Very unorganized but pretty good lunch menue. You need a hard time ordering from their menue.

Popular neighborhood café/diner. Since it’s tiny there’s always a wait unless you want to sit on some hokey chair table set up. What people were loving when I came one Sunday was the bacon special — 6 types or artisinal bacon $ 9. That was a bit underwhelming… definitely sounded better than the experience. We also got the blue plate with bacon mac n cheese $ 14, Ranchero bacon combo $ 9, Grilled cheese sandwich $ 10 with a side salad $ 3. If all that bacon wasn’t enough I got the brunch BLT with avocado $ 10. All washed down with mint tea and coffee. $ 77 + tip for 4 of us.

The restaurant: Good service, tasty food. A touch pricey for me, but if I had more bucks to spend I’d go more regularly. The catering: Delicious and reasonably priced. Only problem is that they were late the 2nd time. I’m hoping it was a fluke.

Since I live off the N train and my best friend lives off the G, I started becoming familiar with the Sage storefront, always passing it just after it’d closed for the evening. Finally a friend suggested we go and check out the advertised bacon brunch. Ours was a party of five, which was not easy to squeeze in, since there’s not a lot of seating(I did become somewhat unwittingly acquainted with the ladies sitting next to me). Only one person ordered the bacon brunch, while the rest of us got sandwiches, but we were all more than adequately fed. The bacon brunch was amazing, for each course you got to choose from a variety of options, and if you’ve never had a bacon brownie with Jack Daniels whipped cream, I’d recommend it at least to try a bite. It’s the sort of thing you joke about, the ultimate hip dessert, but it was actually pretty tasty.

i went here with high expectations and left feeling disappointed. We had a cup of butternut squash soup and ½ a veggie sandwich and the pasta special of the day, pumpkin ravioli in a rosemary crème sauce. The bill came to something like $ 35 which is too much for lunch! Plus there is hardly any seating there. I really wanted the BLT but they had no bacon! what the hell is that? i swear i must’ve seen 4 pig decorations, three shirts worn by the staff proclaiming to eat bacon, and many other bacon references throughout the restaurant and they don’t have any BLT’s, things did not start off good. the soup was the highlight of the meal, def tasty but i am partial to butternut soup. the sandwich was eh, all the veggies were marinated in some kind of vinegar sauce so they all tasted like vinegar, not my favorite of condiments. the pasta itself was alright, nothing special definitely had better pumpkin ravioli elsewhere. The sauce for the ravioli was unique and tasty so i did like that. We skipped dessert since we were kinda in a hurry but i kinda regretted it since they have homemade snowballs which i might have to try next time i am in the area but i will def skip on the lunch.

Honey! If you are on a diet of any kind, this is NOT the place to go! Everything and I do mean everything is succulent and delicious. This place will truly have you question if you should budget to eat here everyday. THEPROS: Great food Geat sweets CLEANBATHROOM close to subway THECONS –not enough seating when it gets busy.(not their fault) –long lines –one pan dishes.(once its gone its gone so go early). THESTAFF: always kind and knowledgeable. Only one guy thought he was too pretty to work. Always attitude with him but the rest of the people were GENIUS! Owner takes time to greet her customers and you can tell she likes what she does. some antique art-work on the walls makes you feel like yo are visiting your neat friends grandma. A bit over-priced but I think its to keep it on the wall. Anyway, go see for yourself. Even though it’s overpriced,(EVENFOR Long Island City) YOU’LLLOVEIT!

didn’t personally visited the restaurant, but tried their cupcakes at dean & deluca today. had vanilla cupcake. was just too suck of trying bad cupcakes so decided to just go with one. to my surprise, this was really good. in fact, even better than SSS. but then again, SSS was good but just inconsistent, and i’d only tried sage’s once. still, this wouldn’t be my last time. vanilla cupcake with a touch of lemon on the muffin(at least that’s what i thought i’d tasted). moist enough, right amount of frosting. do note that the frosting wasn’t crazy thick, but slightly thin so the taste wasn’t crazy crazy sweet.

The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that there is nowhere to sit and enjoy the fabulous food!(Except for 3 seats at a tiny counter, where you will inevitably be bumped by the elbows of those in line.) Definitely plan on doing takeout! I got a steak & onion panini and a cup of creamy tomato-basil-goat cheese soup. It was a nasty, cold-ish, rainy day and this was stick-to-your-ribs, warming, comforting food. It was also delicious! For dessert I got the cheesecake brownie, which probably weighed almost a pound, even though it was only a littler larger than average brownie size; that’s how dense it was. I love a rich, fudgey brownie(you know, the kind that leaves a big spot on your napkin where the buttery goodness soaked through), so for me it was perfect. This is a bright spot in the wasteland of LIC dining mediocrity.

I think of Sage as a bakery rather than a lunch spot. They made me an excellent birthday cake last year(angel food cake with lemon glaze and edible orchids). They also make amazing sophisticated chocolate cupcakes. Yummy!

This is where we order lunch from most days on the TV show I work on. If you’re placing an order for delivery keep in mind that it takes awhile! Today I placed my order around 10:40am and it didn’t come until 12:00pm. But that’s not too bad because they start lunch at 11:30am. But just try to place your order early so you can be one of the first deliveries! Sage has a pretty good lunch menu… I’ve had the avocado sandwich, the mushroom soup, and iced chai latte. All were very good. I’m a vegetarian and this place has plenty of offerings for me. Portions are pretty large too and are worth the money. I usually eat ½ of my sandwich and save the rest for later.

Sage is by far the best place in the Citigroup area of LIC. The soups are all wonderfully delicious(especially the tomato/basil/goat cheese Friday special), and their Cuban sandwich(called the«little Miami») is one of the best I’ve had in the city. And their cupcakes are beyond the beyond! You’ll definitely want to take one with you before you go.

I’m so happy I checked out Unilocal before I went to LIC today– resigned to lunch at one of the very ordinary delis on Jackson Ave., I was excited to see Oliver T’s review of Sage. This place is a real asset to this neighborhood(and my boring meetings in LIC). The storefront is tiny(4 counter seats max!– plus a few tables outside) but does a bustling lunch take out business. After much deliberation, I went with half a crispy parmesan(organic cagefree happy clucking cute Amish) chicken baguette with lettuce and sweet tomatoes and a cup of butternut squash soup, accompanied by raspberry lemonade and a red velvet cupcake that the adorable counter guy stowed lovingly in an upside down soup cup(little did he know the abandon with which it would be devoured). The verdict? Everything was unbelievably delicious. Though the soup would be better on a day, say, that was not 90FREAKINGDEGREES, it was lush and smooth and perfectly flavored. The sandwich was delish and deserving of all sorts of superlative type adjectives. And, the cupcake! Though it could have been redder to live up to its name, and it was so hot out that the cake actually started melting, the frosting was thick and cream cheesey and wonderful on the moist cocoa flavored cupcake. My only regret in my 24 years is not getting an assorted box of Sage’s red velvet, Hostess style, carrot cake, and lemon filled coconut cupcakes(and their version of pink«snowballs”– you know, the coconut covered marshmallowey chocolate balls) to take home– or to the train, because I don’t think they’d make it past there. Update 7⁄07: OK, the red velvet needs some work because it’s not really red. However, everything else continues to impress. As an appetizer, I had a «snowball”– a creative take on the Hostess original and a satisfying little morsel. For lunch, I had bbq chicken and mac and cheese, which took about 15 minutes but were both fresh and delicious. I took home 6 cupcakes– the clear winner is the Hostess style crème filled. Much richer than its namesake, it’s coated in thick fudge frosting and the cake itself is dense and filled with a splurt of crème. The lemon coconut is more delicate but with the combo of flavors another winner. THEYCATER! CANTHEYCATERMYLIFE??? 4÷08− Hostess style are a must-try! Sage is still going strong!
