Came in for dinner tonight and ordered baked clams, a Greek salad, rice, lemon potatoes and the red snapper(of course I was not alone haha) The food was very good, but with so many other competitors nearby it’s hard to give up a favorite to try someplace new. The baked clams were meaty and seasoned well, the fish: broiled and not too oily which was good but the Greek salad was a bit wilted… Not my favorite. Lobster specials seemed to be a hit as lots of other patrons were ordering them. They looked great.

Wow wow wow I wish I could give them 10 stars for the food. We started off with baked clams which were amazing !. Pro’s Very nice grilled fish dishes. Very tasty. Very good bread served with the meal. Huge, tasty taramosalata for $ 5 Cheap prices on the Bourari retsina. One block from the N train. Why waste money eating in Manhattan with the Yuppies when you can eat with the locals in Astoria. Reasonable décor and ambiance. Very interesting prints on the wall. Con’s There was a beautiful, sad looking waitress, and a cocky, unattractive one who was cold and never met my eyes, never asked me how I liked the meal or if I needed something. Try and get the beautiful, sad one. They actually serve Carlo Rossi on the wine list — guys — dump it, it’s garbage and a skid row drink. And an upgrade for the Boutari Restina would have been nice, Need a little more variety with the entrée’s, A pasta dish or cioppino for example. Summary Nice place — good value — good food. Worth checking out.

Dropped in again last night w/some friends and the food is always on par. However, the wait staff is(still) a bit cold and could use a brush up on service etiquette and«how to wear a smile». All in all, they get the job done w/o ruining your experience. My wife and I have been coming here since 2004(Greek Captain) and the renovation from an old fish market /cafeteria style eating has really improved w/its new quaint and warm setting. The food always tastes fresh and not frozen. The bus boys are a real help in this place and will provide you w/anything if your waiter is busy. There is a very short wait time for food and nothing tastes rushed… The char grilled octopus, and baked clams are well prepared and delicious! One thing, that I love… Is that nothing is over/under cooked, that’s tough to do w/seafood. Tips: It can get very busy in there during peak times and it appears they only have 2 providing service for 12+ tables… So, order what you can and be sure everything is repeated…

This was my first time eating Greek. This restaurant was amazing! Good service and good food. We shared the seafood combo and got a side baked potato. The potato was over cooked but the crab and shrimp made up for it. It was to die for!!! Yummy yummy!

Ate here a few weeks ago. sat outside. It’s everything you would imagine from an astoria GREEK restaurant. Greek waitress, pushing the daily specials, very friendly, fresh seafood, and BIG portions. we had a gift certificate, they gave us no problem. My girlfriend and i split the broiled seafood special, it had flounder, salmon, shrimps and scallops. Next time i would ask for it grilled, b/c it did come in alot of butter and garlic– which don’t get me wrong that was delish, just not very healthy. we also split a greek salad, it was huge, fresh, feta was so good. next time i would order the dressing on the side. the garlic bread was crispy and soft on the inside, with warm butter. beers were a great price(i think $ 4 dollars!) thats not bad by NYC standards. my friend tommy was happy to see they even had smelts on the menu. it definitely fulfilled the greek itch we had and was light on out pockets. a nice neighborhood spot.

We tried this place once about a year and a half ago and it was only OK then, but we walked by on our way back from a movie today and decided to give it another go. My partner and I are both huge seafood people and I can honestly say the food here is the pits. Our waitress was a complete doll and very friendly an attentive and we were given a HUGE basked of fairly tasty garlic bread– those are the only good things I have to say. I started with the shrimp bisque– at first sip it was pretty tasty, but after my third or fourth spoonful it began to taste thick and starchy. There were cubes of fake(FAKE!) crab meat sunken in the bottom of the bowl and that was a huge turn off. A seafood restaurant, especially one with fresh crab on the menu, should have fresh crab in their soups. I can handle fake crab when it’s cold, but hot fake crab makes me gag. I barely made a dent in it– a complete waste of six bucks. For an entrée we shared the Greek Captain’s Platter, or something to that effect, which consisted of broiled crab legs, a broiled lobster tail, broiled scallops, stuffed clams, and stuffed shrimp. For thirty bucks it was a mediocre portion. The scallops were slimy and undercooked, the lobster tail tasted unflavored– even when dipped in butter– the stuffed clams were over-peppered, and I didn’t even bother with the shrimp. The only semi-palatable things about the meal were the crab legs and the french fries. I would sooner go get crab legs at the King China buffet off Ditmars than waste my time here again.

Decided to come here for brunch with the bf. We shared a medium salad(HUGE and well worth it) and they gave us a basket of fresh home made garlic bread. We were going to order the appetizer of grilled octopus but the salads were quite filling and we decided to settle with lemon sole. It’s a good portion, great for sharing, but needed a little more flavor! $ 15-$ 20 a person if you share an appetizer and entrée. The entrees also come with your choice of Greek potatoe chips(yum! hand fried chips with herbs), french fries, rice or baked potato. I’m coming back for some raw oysters and calamari!
