History

Established in 2010.

[ fLo rE sta ], now a staple of Long Island City’s Vernon Boulevard, offers unique and modern floral arrangements that rival those from Manhattan’s flower district. The language of flowers comes naturally to Carlo Bermudez; he’s a third-​generation flower man. His grandfather grew orchids in Colombia, and Bermudez still gets some of his flowers from the prized region today.

«Flowers can change your day,» he says. «They can make you cry, make you smile.»

Flowers did more than that for Carlo, though. They literally changed his life. In the middle of a recession, the former marketing student did what few others could have done — he opened a flower shop.

Floresta is the best possible florist one could ask for. Both my husband and I are extremely detail oriented and Carlo and his staff made EVERY VISION A REALITY. They were prompt, courteous, communicative and most importantly Carlo was a visionary. If you ever need a florist for small arrangements or large events, this is the place! For those in a budget, they will work with you and go above and beyond. Here are a few guest pictures of the work. We will absolutely be updating them with photographer photos asap.

This was a very disappointing experience for me. Bad customer service, no return phone call, and not response from an e mail. Flower quality was bad. I will not be a returning customer. I work near this hub shop located in the new market for one of the largest companies in LIC. They could have had a corporate account, but they blew it!

I just used fLorEsta for the first time this past weekend, and I have to say they are just amazing! The flower selection is beautiful, their creativity is great, and the customer service is the bestest! I needed them to decorate a frame for a birthday party and they exceed my expectations! Absolutely everything one could wish for when it comes to floral arrangements!
As soon as you step inside you feel this is a special place. They are smiling, hard working and 100% invested in making the best arrangement for your needs; I have read in other reviews that they are family and I completely agree. They care deeply that your arrangement conveys the right message to the present’s recipient and no matter how early, late or last minute the request the team turns every opportunity you give them into a heartfelt piece of art.
I have lived in different cities and in different countries, always trying to find the one spot where I can get flowers reliably and where I can trust their suggestions and final result. So far I have found that there is always one such florist (no more, no less) that fits that description in each location — that’s what fLorEsta is for me in NYC.

I was buried at work this past Valentines Day and forgot to get flowers in advance for my girl. So Saturday morning (Valentines Day) I came in to the store and Carlo clearly saw that I was in a bind. He got me a dozen roses right away and even gave me 2 extra ones for free. That’s what you call customer service.
The roses were fresh and my girl loved them. Carlo goes above and beyond and his flowers are always beautiful. This is the best flower shop in LIC!

Fantastic customer service they’re so funny and nice. They have gorgeous arrangements, lost a star only because it’s pricey.
I came here to get a special Mother’s Day bouquet. They shop is cute, small and hidden away.
They have all types of flowers and colors. They can make something beautiful for you if you got the cash! Love their style, from their cute business card to their awning.

As someone who purchases flowers weekly, I really love this place. The first bouquet I purchased didn’t last too long, however they immediately replaced it with another one that was just as beautiful. They also threw in a ranunculus as well.
Their arrangements are well thought out. They use beautiful palates and unique flowers. I will definitely be buying from them again, especially since they have great customer service.

We have been knowing the owner back in the time when he was selling on a opened table on Vernon Boulevard and we loved him from the very first time we met him. It was not only his one of the kind personality but also the fact that he was making bouquets I have never seen in LIC before. He loves his job and he has a talent to share his passion for flowers with his customers.
We have been fans from the very beginning. He took care of our wedding, our business decoration and also saved my lives many times when I had to prove to my wife that French and romantic still rhymed.
In one word this is the place to go for everything that has to do with flowers and style!

These people saved our butts on New Year’s Eve with an emergency bouquet they throw together for us right before they closed. Their white roses are beautiful, fresh and very fragrant. Their red roses are velvety and a beautiful shade in between burgundy and magenta. They are also wonderfully fragrant, not too potent, not too light. Excellent customer service!

Floresta was one of the best decisions we made on our wedding day. Carlos and his team were a pleasure to work with and so talented– it’s been over a month since the wedding and people are still talking about our flowers! The arrangements they made, the bouquets and the chuppah were so special, unique and exactly what I dreamed of– at a price I dreamed of too (they were so generous, throwing in extras all over the place)! The team delivered everything on schedule and broke down everything at the end– full service to the highest extent. If you’re looking for a florist for any event, I recommend fLorEsta — hands down the best in the area.

Family. That is what Carlo and Ana have become.
We had always gotten our flowers from Floresta to begin with, but we weren’t so quick to pull the trigger when it came to our wedding. We wanted to keep it local to LIC, and considered a few options. But in the end, we kept coming back to Floresta.
They weren’t the cheapest option, but art isn’t cheap. It’s easy to discount wedding flowers as being disposable. It’s only one-​day after all. But what Carlo and the team create aren’t floral arrangements. They’re awe-​inspiring visions. Everything from the boutonnières, to the bridal bouquet, to our drop-​dead gorgeous altar, was breathtaking. We had an absolutely beautiful canvas by having Mundo as the venue, but Floresta was the painter that took it to the next level. Their style perfectly complimented the space. Each detail was thoughtfully considered, and executed with excellence.
Everything was a work of art.
You can go elsewhere and pay «regular» prices; but then you’ll get «regular» flowers. You aren’t just paying for flowers when you choose Floresta. You’re paying for artistry. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment in my choice. Although an artist herself, thankfully Ana is there to keep the wheels turning; because everyone at Floresta is a botanical visionary before anything else. Their vision went beyond the arrangement of petals. They considered how to enhance the entirety of the experience, and helped create an unforgettable event.

These guys are great. They’re a total turnkey solution for me since we moved to LIC. The arrangements are super fresh and last for a week to ten days. I’ve ordered flowers for my wife’s birthday once and anniversary twice and she has loved them each time.
As long as we live here I won’t go anywhere else. Highly recommended.

I imagine Floresta is good at what they do once they actually get to the point of providing florist services for weddings. But I will never know because I got stuck at the sales process. I set up an in-​person appointment for a consultation with them. (edit: After filling out a form describing the components of our intended wedding package and submitting it to Floresta,) my fiancé and I had both set aside time for the meeting in our schedules a week in advance. But one day before the meeting, Floresta emailed us to cancel, saying, «Carlo, our head floral artist, has an extremely packed schedule tomorrow and I am afraid that he won’t be able to accommodate the consultation.»
Hello??? We were ON the «extremely packed» schedule. Having a busy schedule is not a very compelling reason to cancel an appointment with someone on your schedule. To me, it just screamed, «We anticipate our other appointments will have bigger budgets than you, so we don’t mind if we lose your business.» That may just be my own projections talking, but either way, I don’t appreciate being cancelled on for a non-​emergency. I certainly don’t intend to hire a major wedding vendor who can’t keep the very first appointment they have set with me.

Ok… I have to admit that when the representative from a store comes to your door personally to deliver an order AND apologizes for messing up a previous order, it leaves a very big impression.
It was nice to know that they care. Hubby just got me Mother’s Day flowers from here and of course, they were immaculate and stunning. The guy who delivered them apologized tremendously and delivered them personally from the store, without using the service.

Dear Carlos and Monica, thank you for making, what could have otherwise been a horrifying experience, such a memorable event. I’ve never made a bridal bouquet in my life and yet you walked me through it with such kindness and attentiveness. You helped me so so much from choosing the best flower combination to the pearl pins that complete the look of the bouquet. You really out did yourself in service even if you don’t think so. You will be happy to know that the bride was extremely please with her bouquet as were some gents with their buttonieres. Will definitely come to you again. I had a small city hall/​30pp. reception wedding. We got our bridal bouquet and boutonnière from fLorEsta. Everyone at the store was nice and they didn’t try to upsell us on more flowers or centerpieces. I was very vague about what I wanted, but the assistant made me a sample bouquet that I instantly loved. She also gave us an extra boutonnière for free, and the bouquet came in a glass vase. The flowers looked and smelled great all day, even without being put back in water. Thanks for refusing to use baby’s breath, Carlos!
Expensive? Yes. But for us it was worth it.

I walked in and ordered 6 different bouquets for my photo shoot. The store assistant (I think her name was Monica, but please do let me know if there’s no one named Monica working there… sorry!) attended me with a very friendly, positive attitude. I showed her some image references of what types of flowers and colors I would like and how different I would like them to look from each other.
All my friends know how picky and specific I am about the subjects I shoot, but Monica totally surprised me by creating 6 unique, lovely bouquets exactly based on my preferences and requests, AND perfectly within my budget! She has a great sense of colors and mix and match. I think they have a great variety of flowers and leaves and berries, and also bouquets seemed affordable compared with those sold at flower shops in Manhattan.
I will definitely go back there to order flowers for birthdays or parties. Thank you very much Monica!

The flowers here look amazing. I especially love their orchids. They sell the single stalks for $ 40. The single stalks contain as many as 5 – 8 flowers on them and come in a beautiful pot with stones and moss.
The people here are also super friendly and they deliver for a small fee.
Update: I ordered an orchid from here for my Mother’s birthday. While you can also get orchids from Whole Foods or Home Depot, fLorEsta’s flowers are designer. They are elegant, beautifully arranged, and carefully packaged to elevate. They’re definitely far beyond a grocery store flower. Ana also took the time to email me sample pictures of the orchid arrangements as well as patiently answer multiple of my annoying phone calls before I could commit to a buying decision.
I ordered a single stem orchid and it came delivered, wrapped in tissue paper and clear plastic paper, with two complimentary blank cards (fLoreEsta also offers to write a message for you if you wish). My single stem orchid turned out to actually have two healthy and long stems! What a delight it was when I saw that. In addition, moss covered the top of the pot, preventing the soil from drying out while giving the arrangement a gorgeous appearance. Extra twigs and sticks added additional ornateness. Their delivery man was also careful and delivered the orchid intact. It was such a great experience that I would consider ordering their flowers to decorate my home on a regular basis.

Ouch, had to bump Floresta down a star when I saw the exact same plants being sold at Home Depot for less money. I really admired Floresta’s unique looking, antiquey lantern terrariums filled with air plants and succulents. I thought they were creative and beautiful. A week later I was browsing Home Depot and saw the exact same arrangements, lanterns, plants and all for like $ 20 less. After that incident, I noticed a Home Depot sticker on another plant they were selling at Food Cellar. I mean, they could have at least taken the sticker off the pot! After noticing this on 2 separate occasions, I have to assume that all of Floresta’s indoor house plants are sourced from Home Depot and sold at a higher markup.
They still get 4 stars for their stunningly gorgeous, fresh and truly unique flower bouquets though.

These guys are awesome. When I needed flowers last minute, at 4 pm, when it was a life or death situation (guys know what I mean), the pulled through. The delivered the flowers the same day and life is good. Not only that, the flowers are unique and lasted a very long time. Way longer and fresher than anything you find on street corners.
We also used a bouquet as our home decoration that lasted for almost two weeks!

At first we were a bit hesitant on hiring fLorEsta and to be honest they weren’t even second on our list for our Wedding Florist. But what set Carlo and his business apart was that they were extremely professional, followed up on emails consistently, and his overall attitude about placing your wedding day fears at rest was his priority. Even at the day of the wedding he was on time, gave us extra flowers (at no cost) and explained how we should take care of the flowers before the setup.
