Elite Event: Gettin’ Buzzed at COFFEED

Fun times at COFFEED. YES, I know I’m late to the review game, but better late than never!
Far be it for me to venture to LIC but when I do, it’s always with a purpose, and that’s usually to see friends, eat, and have an overall good time… Not necessarily in that order. On this night I got to do all of that, which is always a good thing. Fantastic event with food and drinks, beer, wine, and of course, coffee! Tastings aside, and I do love coffee, it would’ve been nice to have someone, (a barista perhaps?) go through and explain the regions and flavors while we’re tasting the coffee samples. Maybe that’s a worthwhile adventure they should hold on Fridays here.
Having established their flagship location two years ago in an industrial setting lends it character, a vibe many of us long for, perhaps even live in? There was quite a bit of seating and many elites that came out tonight! Always good to see a good turnout! There was definitely plenty of time to catch up with new and familiar faces as well as my friends, many of whom i meet through Unilocal.
The salad and paninis, which i did not get a chance to try at another earlier LIC event, were amazing! The baked goods, omg, the brownies and that raspberry bar tho… make a triumphant return. I could live off this stuff.
The craft beer I wasn’t terribly fond of… mind you, I love IPAs, d-IPA’s and otherwise hoppy beers. Did anyone catch the giant bear mingling with the Elites that night? He sure knows how to party! On-​hand was also wine tastings from the next-​door wine store Glassful and although the rosé was the most fabulous of the bunch, i wasn’t feeling the rest of the wines though.
After hearing from the owners and the CM, after having settled in, was great to see. Thanks Jando, Matt, Nelson, Coffeed, Glassful… Looks like you’ve given me new reasons to spend more time in LIC! I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the neighborhood.

Fantastic event held in LIC, at a venue with an industrial hipster-​chic atmosphere! My boyfriend was especially excited because he’s a coffee fiend. (He basically spent the entire time talking to the roaster behind the counter.) I, on the other hand, was busy sampling the food/​beer/​wine. The grilled chicken panini really hit the spot, but the hummus sandwich wasn’t bad either. I remembered seeing a flyer posted on the front doors that COFFEED had won some type of award for their signature brownie, and it definitely delivered after I took a bite. So moist and decadent!
And it goes without saying that I had a generous helping of white lager pours. ;) Unfortunately, none of the wine selections really impressed me. But I didn’t mind since this place had so much more to offer. Chatted with the mananger about their rooftop garden, which is where they grow all their vegetables. Was also surprised to see an old friend in attendance! As always, had a great time — thank you to everyone who made this possible. Definitely looking forward to the next one. :D

Café owner Jie and manager Victoria introduced themselves and were welcomed warmly by the crowd’s ovation. COFFEED is doing a great job promoting their brand to the yuppies clientele. This store is only 2 blocks away from the 36^th Street station on E/​M/​R and a 10 min subway ride from Midtown East — very convenient location, and a great addition Sunnyside/​Long Island City.
The café is very spacious and homey and has a bit of rustic feel. The brown stuffed bear — random as it seemed — was a very cute find. Friendly and welcoming staff. Plenty of food and beverages were offered among the beer station, wine station, coffee tasting, and food station.
Garden Salad — Cucumbers, carrots, radishes, tomatoes over a bed of greens. Fresh and refreshing.
On the platters were «Milano Panini’s» (Prosciutto, provolone, greens on pressed pita bread) and avocado and hummus sandwiches.
Desserts — who can forget the sweets? — Cookies, raspberry tart, brownies (Devil’s brownie?)
Several types of coffees were offered for tasting. I believe they offered the following delicious roasts (please correct me if I’m wrong):
BURUNDI — Karuzi: Medium. Raisin, cocoa, and spice
COLOMBIA — Organic Reserva. Medium. Full body, chocolate, mild cherry
ETHIOPIA — Sidamo Ardi Natural. Light-​Medium. Aromatic and a hint of strawberry
MEXICO — Pacamara Finca Kassandra. Medium. Complex, red wine. (note it was probably the most expensive beans among the variety offered at this event)
SUMATRA — Lintong. Medium. Chocolate, earthy, full body.
(Yes, I did my homework on these coffees.) I personally liked the lightest roast of the coffees offered.

Theres quite a BUZZ about this COFFEED Event. (Had to.) And here’s why:
As soon as we walked in, what a welcome! To our right was this beautiful assortment of bites and not to mention a fine wine tasting! And oh if that’s not enough, to the left was where the coffee was at as well as the beer. Needless to say, in either direction your booze needs would most certainly be fulfilled. So choose wisely. The establishment itself, very industrial in appearance… still managed to emit a very artsy/​earthy vibe. I later found out that this space used to be an old automotive parts store (fun fact from the owner)! Very cool.
As for the bites, they were the same offerings at the LIC landing event which I thoroughly enjoyed… And was excited to savor those decadent Raspberry bars once again. But other than that the chipotle aioli was a very nice touch for my salad and the sandwiches were quite scrumptious as well. It’s so awesome that some of these ingredients were actually grown on the roof! Talk about fresh and LOCAL, amirite?!
After some chatting and serious talks about the north vs the south and a close called brawl (Pokemon tattoos), I headed over to try their coffee. The barista really knew the deal about each roast and I had the opportunity to try most of them. Both subtle and strong differences. I really enjoyed them all. AND. I got the chance to hug the giant teddy bear (didn’t know he had that official name!) Apparently I wasn’t the only one who got to hug him — what a player.
All in all, I had a blast. The night was full of jokes, good eats and great company. Always looking forward to having such a wonderful time in queens events. You guys really know how to party! Thanks so so much to Jando, Matt, Nelson and to the awesome staff of COFFEED!

As always, another spectacular event thrown! Yay Jando, Unilocal,Team and COFFEED.
The venue itself is a gem in the area and perhaps it is just what the neighborhood needed to start kicking off some wonderful finds? I certainly hope so!

Who woulda thought delicious coffee, dranks, and panini’s could lead to such a great time?! Oh wait, we all did!
Being my first Queens elite event I couldn’t have been more happy to meet such a cool group of Unilocalers and an awesome Ambassador such as Jando. Don’t tell him but he gave me a free fist bump without me having to redeem it on Unilocal app!(Saving that bad boy in my back pocket for a rainy day.)
Cheers to Jando and the staff of Coffeed as they worked tirelessly throughout the night to keep us full and happy. And even though the event ended hours earlier, they really just let us hangout until our ever so slightly buzzed minds figured it was time to mosey on home.
Can’t wait for the next one!

Step 1: Arrive, check in.
Step 2: Drink Beer. Learn about the wine, sip it. Then chat with the manager of Coffeed and learn about the garden on the roof or the steam punk coffee roaster…
Step 3: Obtain more alcohol. GET BUZZZZED
Step 4: Make bad jokes. Make new friends. Fistbumps.
Step 5: Give Jando a bear hug and/​or hug the GIANT plushie bear also.
Whew! While I don’t get the chance to show up at as many Queens events as I would like, when I do they’re always amazeballs. Coffeed was not an ounce less than fantastic. The space was welcoming and large, absolutely the type of place I could bust out my laptop and grab a snack and coffee. I might have liked to start the night with a little bit of that bold Ethiopian jive, or the smooth Sumatra coffee, but the Brews and wines were being passed out and about as soon as we came rolling in. The food was FANTASTIC. Seriously, those raspberry bars are what sweet dreams are made of. Their avocado and hummus sandwich was right up my alley too. The best part was, they kept bringing the food out making sure we were all fabulously fed. Also, nice play on the name guys. COF-​FEED. Most excellent.
Giant thanks to the tireless crew @ Coffeed, Glassful, Jando, Matt and Nelson for another amazing, successful event. Gotta love Queens.

Coffeed is a really cool place to just chill and hang out with some of the best Unilocal elites all around town.
Coffeed provided the BUZZ! Great tasting beers and great tasting wines from Glassful wines.
Food was fantastic. A nice refreshing salad, followed by the most delicious pesto sandwich and panini you will taste, and end your meal with a nice sweet brownie and cookies.
Continue to get buzz by getting more wine and beer.
Then wash it down, sober up with some good roasted coffee.
Great to see some fimilar faces again at Coffeed. Good times as always.

I had such a great time tonight!
COFFEED is such a bright and spacious venue, although you wouldn’t think so if you showed up much later — the place was packed! Systematic setup — café to the left and bar to the right. There are plenty of long tables and couches spread about and seats along the counter. I love everything COFFEED stands for. Their whole mission — supporting the community, donating to charities, serving local beers and wines, what’s not to love? They even have a farm on the roof that sourced the wonderful salad that I ate! Awesome.
There was a wine tasting courtesy of their neighbors, Glassful Wines, which was wonderful. I enjoyed the Chardonnay from Ryan Patrick Vineyards.
Huge spread of yummy bites including the refreshing salad, panini’s, vegetarian sandwiches, and the ever delicious cookies, brownies and granola bars that I got to sample during the last event at LIC Landing catered by COFFEED. Yum-​o.
I missed out on the beer and roasting demonstrations — too busy chit-​chatting. It was great to see so many familiar faces. And, formally meet Matt and Nelson — Hi!

Pretty sweet venue. A little bit of everything. There’s food, beers, wine, and of course COFFEE!
Upon entering the event, I liked the space at first. It felt open and spacious until the crowd started to really roll in. By then, finding a spot for your plate of food was a bit tough. The salad was nice and fresh. The panini’s were my favorite. That garlic spread won me over. The sandwich was okay but wasn’t my favorite and their desserts (brownie, some kind of granola thingy, and a cookie) were really good but a bit too sweet for my taste. The first bite to each treat was great but it was hard to wolf down with beer. I definitely needed a large glass of milk for those sweet treats.
I was contemplating on buying a bag of coffee for my wife but after sampling some, I’m not a big coffee person so I had no clue what’s good and what’s not in the world of coffee. As for the beers, I had no idea what I was drinking. I just grabbed a cup off the counter. I think it was some kind of IPA.
This place would be nice if they had a permit for outdoor seating. The sidewalk is nice and wide. I barely ever come into this section of Long Island City especially taking the train to 36^th ave station. It’s good to know there’s a nice coffee spot like this in this area now. Parking looks like a breeze in this neighborhood and the train station is literally just one block away. Thanks Jando and the entire Unilocal team for setting this one up.
