I feel that this location is forgotten about! Most people who visit Long Branch visit Pier Village to eat. However, this is great spot to stop at on your way home to or from the beach! The food and service are great and quick. There is also a lot of seating.

As a frequent surf taco customer I’ve been to pretty much all of them(except Jackson). The location in long branch might be the top one in my opinion. They’re all pretty much the same but there’s something about this one that’s just awesome.

Sorry, but not real tacos. Just blah-no sauces on the side or taste. If they are on flour tortillas, they aren’t real tacos. Food was disappointing.

Surf taco is our jam anytime we’re near one. The steak burritos are my favorite but the one dessert is awesome. I forget what its called but it involves fried bananas and ice cream. Will definitely be back soon.

Went here for the first time ever and I questioned why it took me so long to come here lol it was so good. The wraps and burritos are amazing. They pack so much stuff in there that it’s worth the kinda of high price. They do get very busy especially on weekends but if you call in for pick up and eat elsewhere it’s a better option! On not so busy days, there is so much seating available inside and even outside! The salsa bar is a great idea and the option of 4 different salsas is cool too. Haven’t checked out any other surf taco locations yet but if they are anything like this one, I’ll make my way to any of them.

This place is fine. You won’t get any authentic flavors it in, but you will get a lot of fish/meat in the taco. I personally didn’t enjoy the relish/mayo mix(tarter?) on the surf taco and garlic shrimp taco. I liked the grilled steak taco best of the three mentioned, but again, it lacks any true mexican flavor. Would suggest El Rancho if one is looking for more authentic flavor(but sacrificing the ease and ambiance). The salsa options are a nice touch — be sure to get enough for the chips. Guacamole is excellent, but a tad pricey. Overall, not a bad option.

Been wanting to try this place been heem hearing commercials and talk of it. Got the Mahi taco combo awesome food. Ac was broke but honestly the tacos actually cooled me down with the pineapple and toppings they use. Scratch taco bell off my idea list when I’m anywhere near one of their locations. Top notch service great food great atmosphere can’t ask for anything more. Salsa is done great my go to for food in the area from now on!

I think there is a big hype about Surf Taco. Many people love it and rave about it, but I personally think it’s just okay. I got a beef taco when I went there last which was pretty good and pretty filling, despite my initial reaction to getting just one taco. My boyfriend wanted one too, so we ordered one. The difference between our beef tacos was that his was literally running grease/oil out of it like a faucet, and mine did not. I contacted Surf Taco corporate to let them know, and they did not get back to me. Also, a woman was denied a cup for water while we were there. I know some people abuse the water cups and use them for soda, but it seemed like the woman really just wanted that water and Surf Taco wouldn’t give her a cup! I think this is pretty ridiculous and should be changed. The service there is great however. The food has always been prompt when I was there. One of the employees also came outside to take our garbage which I thought was nice, Overall, Surf Taco is good, but not great. This is a place I would come every once in a while, though I do recommend that if you’re visiting in the Long Branch area that you give it a try.

I love the tacos from the chain, but the service at this location is terrible. 90+ degree weather and one single person taking orders as slowly as humanly possible, then forcing people to pay for tap water…

25 min by foot of off the pier village but worth the walk. My favorite is the garlic shrimp taco! Yum! I will come back for this treat when I’m down here.

So forewarning, I was slightly bombed when I had Surf Taco so my memory is pretty foggy to say the least. I mean in my defense, when it’s my day-off from both of my jobs and I decide to go to the beach to celebrate with friends and there just so happens to be a bottle of vodka conveniently placed in my beach bag, one must partake, right? So for Surf Taco. The place has a laid-back, California-surfer vibe to it and that’s one of my favorite vibes honestly. I’m a very laid-back individual so I like places that resonate my being, you know? There’s a bunch of bright colors with tiki and surfer décor all around the restaurant with Reggae music and typical sounds of Summer blasting through the walls. I had the Mahi Taco and it was cooked perfectly. It came topped with an Avocado Lime sauce which was oddly refreshing, Lettuce, Pineapple Chunks, Pico de Gallo, and Avocado in a corn tortilla. Everything about it was fresh, tender and delicious. Honestly, I found myself picking at the crumbs because I wanted more. They have more selections of Tacos and Burritos and more here and I DEFINITELY need to come back at some point. Especially when I’m not too inebriated.

Love this place! We have been to about 3 different ones and they are always great. Food is awesome and we’ve never had any problems with service or anything else! Can’t wait for the next trip

Picture this. You’ve just finished up a day at the beach. Famished, thirsty and sun soaked, you leave on a mission to find something crisp and refreshing to chow down on. Surf Taco is here to solve all of your problems. And not just in Long Branch either. This Cali inspired taco haven has locations scattered throughout some of Jersey’s most influential beach towns. My sis introduced me to this spot about a decade ago and I haven’t looked back since. It’s become a mainstay in my summer beach routine. The Vibe: Cool, casual and laid back. Reggae music fills the room and brightly colored paintings of tiki figures and surfers hang on the walls. You aren’t the only one who is barefoot with sand in your hair– everyone else just came from the beach too. The Food: Standard Mexican fare with an island inspired twist. Yes, you can find all of your favorites(Tacos, burritos, dillas, salads) but they put a really unique spin on a bunch of dishes. I usually go with the chicken tender taco, a crispy chicken tender and some lettuce, pico and cheese all smothered in ranch dressing and wrapped in a soft tortilla. Other non-traditional dishes here include the buffalo solider burrito(buff chicken burrito, you guessed it) and an aloha wrap with fresh pineapple chunks and teriyaki chicken. Any and all orders come with a side of chips and you can get all the fixings at the complimentary salsa bar. Tacos are priced at around 4 dollars and a larger entrée is about 8 – 9(I’ve found that they raise their price points a bit every summer). I adore it here and am sure I’ll be a frequent patron over the summer. Surf Taco– get yo’self to Jersey City!

The epitome of overrated. I’ve given this place multiple try’s. Each time was no better than the last. You can expect to always be welcomed by a line an inch through the door. The menu is an overly complex listing of items more abundant than that of a deli, an eyesore for say, someone starving after spending hours under the sun at the nearby beach who is dying to order but is now bombarded with options that ‘sound’ good. I say it like that because the food is nothing but an unimpressive interpretation of «tex mex» the tacos are subpar at best. There was no attempt at all at the rice and beans — bland and underwhelming. I expected more having waited for over 30 mins for my food! I also noticed other customers that ordered to-go were waiting just as long. If there’s anything worth getting it’s a ‘smothered’ steak burrito because it’s covered in cheese… my boyfriend bought that and waffle fries and it came to about $ 20 — overcompensated.

I think the main reason I am giving it three stars is because of the service. If I had to base it off of the food, definitely four stars. I ordered my food, along with another friend and the guy at the cash register was just a little clueless on what was going on. He wasn’t super personable like I had experienced at the one in Seaside. Besides that, we waited, and waited, and waited for our food to come out. I was starting to notice that other people were getting their food way before us and they had ordered at least 5 – 10 minutes AFTER us. I walked up to the register and asked about our meals and was told«oh yeah, something happened to your order, it should be out soon though.» Oh really? You couldn’t come talk to us and tell us it would be a minute before ours would come out? Just let us wait and not be apologetic at all about it. Thanks, I love crap service. The food, it’s good. It’s tacos like most of the others. Veggie tacos are good. I like the mushrooms but I wish they had an order for just two tacos without rice and beans, I guess I’ll just have to order it like that next time. I doubt I’ll visit this one again.

Salmon taco was pretty good. The Mango Salsa Shrimp taco was blah. Nothing special on the rice and beans. The place smells like vomit, I’m guessing this is the local place where college kids come after getting hammered. Not to crazy about the smell. I had to eat my tacos outside.

Whenever I’m in the area I make sure to make a trip here! There’s nothing better than eating at surf taco after a long day at the beach! Especially if you go fishing and don’t catch anything, coming here makes you feel better after eating their surf taco(fried cod with all the fixings). Their garlic shrimp is a great choice too! Comes with complimentary chips and a salsa bar. A great staple in ocean county that makes you feel like you’re in California!

Surf Taco — it’s pretty much an institution here at the shore. If you live in the area, you’ve probably been to one at least once, or in the very least — have heard of them. This location is no different than the others I’ve been to, really(the Jackson one aside, which has a liquor license). The fare is «California Mexican», for those who still haven’t tried it — so expect the focus to be on the veggies and salsa, with a fair bit of citrus. The meat quality has never much impressed me, and honestly could use some extra onion, cumin, garlic… *something* — it’s pretty bland. This is fairly easy to fix though, since their salsa bar is fantastic; I usually end up dumping a ton of the«Baja» salsa onto whatever I get. Everything comes with tortilla chips, which are great«spoons» to scoop up the stuff that will fall out of the tacos you order(hint: they’re kind of messy). I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure the chips are store bought — kinda wish they had a little more of an authentic flavor. Minor nitpicking, though. Prices are a touch on the higher end, but not bad. Frankly I think I’d come here a lot more for lunch if it didn’t cost me $ 10+, but it’s still a nice treat once in a while. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly, even with a line that was nearly out the door due to the lunch rush. A nice light version of Mexican style cuisine, if you don’t want to hit up Chipotle, which is like eating a tasty iron ingot. As others have said, this is a perfect lunch for a day at the shore.
