The first time we visited Papagallos(about six weeks ago), my husband ordered a pork burrito. It was very large and tasty and he enjoyed it very much, along with the rice and beans that accompanied it. Not really wanting«the usual», I opted for the barbequed GOAT, a meat I had never even considered eating in my lifetime! It was freshly prepared, very tender and succulent and reminded me, in flavor, of a rich and savory stewed beef. Totally enjoyable! I was so enamoured of this dish that I can’t even remember what was served with it! But I know I liked it! When we returned about 10 days ago, I wanted to order goat again — but, being a Sunday, they were all sold out. The waitress told me that happened every weekend. So if you’d like to try the goat(and I recommend it highly), you’ll have to get there early. We will definitely go back to Papagallos. The service was very friendly and homelike and the food was very good.

This place is definitely a local dive. I circled the block twice trying to find the parking lot it’s not exactly where Unilocal says it is but I eventually got there. There’s not much here by way of decour, empty tables and pictures of food wearing at the corners. But I was welcomed warmly first in Spanish and then in English. This place is family owned a kind mother and father smile from the back and their daughter runs the counter. There is a digital jukebox which someone chose to use halfway through my time there, it is loud and would make conversation difficult, but not impossible. I ordered the pork burrito which came with generous servings of rice and beans, which were flavorful by themselves it was truly a large meal. As they cooked my meal fresh they brought chips and salsas, both salsa were tasty and flavorful instead of just hot. If the chips were warm it would be heaven. The wait was a little long for a lunch break meal, but the quality and portion was well worth my time. Flavors are clearly a priority here and my stomach is thankful! For $ 11 I got a huge burrito with sides and a bottle of water. They have Spanish bottled sodas and home made juice if that’s your kind of thing. Good little gem hidden in Long Branch, there are MANY good Spanish restaurants to choose from in this area, consider this one a strong competitor. Make sure to put money in the tip jar here it doesn’t get any more local than this.

Amazing! The plates are so big I couldn’t finish my food. But the food is so fresh and the people are so friendly! It looks tiny but don’t let that scared you away because the food is so amazing ! No matter what you get you will not be disappointed.

My friend and I stopped here after a conference, and I’m really glad we did! The décor is pretty plain, but the food is delicious! It took a while for the food to be prepared, but the taste more than made up for it. I had the beef enchiladas with verde sauce — it came with a side of rice and beans, which were wonderfully flavorful. I’m assuming they were cooked in a chicken broth. The enchiladas were handmade, and the beef was cut into thin strips, not ground up. It was a little spicy, but amazing nonetheless. This is the best Mexican food I’ve had so far.

I ate here yesterday for lunch as I was working nearby. It is very authentic(translate to mean everyone is speaking Spanish). I had the tacos with marinated pork and it was fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. Just a mom and pop place and I’m glad I stopped in. The address is 273 Broadway which is different from what is listed on Unilocal so either they moved or have a second place.

Real mexican food just like the taco shops in San Diego. Not fancy but delicious and very authentic. They are on Broadway near 5th not Liberty St.
