The Eye of the Cat

I’ve been coming here on and off for 11 years. The place is dusty and the cats are very old. Merlin used to greet me and climb my leg but alas he finally passed away. That being said their oils and sprays are spot on. Advice is great from the young woman attending the counter. The owner is no nonsense and strait forward with her readings. It’s definitely a witches store and I will continue to do my business with them. The only negative experience I had was a friend of mine and I had both signed up on a waiting list for classes and we never got called. I called to check on it and was told the teacher would get back to me but never did so I can not attest to their classes.

Very good metaphysical supply store. Not one of the spiritual/​hippies stores like most that you find around the area. It’s not pretty and renovated inside, but that’s okay with me. The only place in the area where you can find certain herbs/​oils. If you don’t like cats, don’t come here. They allow the cats to roam the store freely (consider the name…) I personally think they are a great touch. Check this place out, you won’t be disappointed.

Won’t lie was a bit nervous going in cause of the bad reviews but both the workers were super nice and friendly. Got welcome as soon as I walked in. Even though both people seem busy doing stuff they still talk to me and my boyfriend. Even offer help when I looked confused. (Which I was with a couple things) one thing I loved was their cat. He so owns the place. He decided he wanted to roam the store with me got on my shoulders purring up a storm while I walked around. Made me feel more relax and at home. They also have a bunch of classes. I would take one but it is a bit of a drive for me once a week to get there since I live in Costa Mesa. Last part the prices were amazing compair to the places in the oc. Was able to get everything I wanted plus more for 32 dollars. Will be going back for all my needs.

This place is like a dusty New Orleans shop that’s been magically transported to a California beach town. Yes it’s dusty, yes it smells of incense, yes there are scruffy cats pawing at you, but what do you expect? This is an occult/​metaphysical shop, not Saks Fifth Avenue.
I’ve been here 3 or 4 times and have always been treated so well by the staff. They’ve been welcoming and eager to answer questions. Some reviews say that the workers are rude and standoff-​ish, but consider what they do. They probably have folks come in every other day mocking them or the shop because they don’t take it seriously. Plus I’ve been told they get weird vibes from people coming in asking about poisons, hexes, and the like.
Anyways, the front of the shop is full of rocks, gems, crystals, sage, various herbs, pocket taro, charms and pendants, etc. The middle room is like a mini library with one wall devoted to oils and incense. The very back room houses the candles. It’s much bigger than it appears when you first walk in.
I recommend this place because it opens your mind to things that are new, interesting, adventurous, and it will probably be the most interesting place you’ll see all day. Check it out for a truly unique shopping experience.
My only con is you need to find street parking and depending on time of day that can be challenging.

First off I have to say, with any metaphysical shop, naturally the employees will be on the defense because many people come in these shops just to poke fun or mess around. Imagine people coming into a church and standing on all the benches and poking through the bibles? Same thing. The girl at the front desk didn’t immediately open up to me, but after asking a question or two she blossomed. It was clear, she was having a hard day, but once approached she couldn’t have been more helpful!
ANYWAY the shop itself is rustic, dusty, and smelled of strong sage. None of these things bother me. I feel it gives the shop its own aura and energy. And mind you, I have never been here before. I love the whole feel of the shop, it literally feels medieval. I am really actually quite shocked at how some people were mortified by this. KEEP IT UP LADIES, I loved it!
The cats that were indicated by a sign on the door were no where to be seen when I had visited, but if they are worried enough to keep them inside, I am certain they receive proper pet care. Many people mentioned that they were ill, but with any ill animal, it requires time for medication to work. And some animals are just old! Simple as that!
The oils and candles are hand made which is essential for practicing the craft or any spiritual use for the items. They have tons of herbs, resins, and incense. When fully stocked they have an array of crystals and stones. The cauldrons they sell are perfect.
All in all I am in love with every tid bit of this shop and I am coming back this week for my first reading! Everyone else is just overly sensitive to dust.

I’ve been going here for the last year or so for readings. Kelly is always spot on with her ability to very open and communicate what she reads. If you’re open to someone who has many years of experience, and will be honest from start to finish when it comes to psychic readings. Then I highly suggest you stop by for a 30 min or an hour reading and and request Kelly!

I went here a while ago to find some obscure herbs. The owner was polite enough. The cats were a huge problem for my allergies. One cat immediately started climbing my jeans, it was very needy and cute but I’m super allergic. The owner peeled her off of me, but I couldn’t linger long, because it’s very dusty with animal dander. I guess they feel it adds to the witchy ambiance? I don’t know. I’d return if they kept it a little bit cleaner.

I worked with Edith many moons ago, such a great lady, she is missed by so many people, Kelly also a great lady, works her bums off keeping the store open. The energy is great in the store lots of inventory. And tons of knowledge.

As I embark on a journey that was conjured up ironically in one of my readings, I want to give one final review and farewell to everyone at The Eye Of The Cat. Aside from having the best selection of supplies I’ve yet to find anywhere, they also having an amazing well informed honest staff. Tress has been my guiding light this past year. Her readings are so accurate. Hence, heading out of state. She was right on. She always is. Jade is amazing. Kelly is delightful and if you ever get to take a class… Do it. I didn’t get to finish but am more informed now then I was before starting. Thank you EOTC!

first time ever coming to pick up herbs and had some good insight on what i would need. the lady had given me very very helpful advice and within the next 7 days all the doors i had knocked on all opened at once and now I’m on the track where i need to be. i was so great full i just had to come back and give her a tip. she’s is a wonderful lady and the young man at the counter was very very helpful. thank u again !!

love, love, love eye of the cat. great selection of oils/​incense and candles. they also have readers there and you can get great advice for how to burn your incense and stuff. i just love it.

I love my incense and oils. Everyone seemed at home when looking around. The kitty loves you get are also a bonus. I will definitely come back!

They really need to fire the tall white lady with long black hair… She has the worse attitude and is not a nice person. I’m not sure why she’s in customer service cause she obviously hates customers. She talks about them while their in the store and I have never seen someone roll their eyes so much. I really like the little fortunes here but with her being at the counter it’s just so uncomfortable to be in there. Find a place that is friendly and warming to give your money to. This place don’t deserve what you work hard to make. They are very RUDE! Someone should call the health department about the urine smell and Jesus about her attitude.

Overdue review.
Very unwelcoming, the lady behind the counter was not friendly. Lots of cats, one of them clawed on my jeans and literally started walking up them, up to my knee. I asked the employee if she could get the cat nicely and her response was «its there home.» Nothing else. When I started walking the cat eventually got off me. Weird vibes. Feel sad for the animals.
I would never return or purchase from here again.

First time hear. I bought some sprays to assist my everyday life and obviously my transition. I found it warm and definitely someplace I want to return to. Wanted to stay longer but there were a couple obnoxious young girls there. Next time then.

Eye of the cat is an amazing store tons and tons supplies. The staff is very knowledgeable and if they don’t know something they will look it up. The store has a wonderful feel to it. Although I do miss Judith

I did alot of research before stopping in here. I was so excited. I had such high hopes. And considering the great reviews it has received, it was a HUGE letdown.
I can not understand what some people see in this place? Really, the only nice thing about this shop are the cute cats that live there.
There’s not much more to say.. . But I will try.
The place was very dusty, dark, rundown, smelled badly and had this negative energy about it. Perhaps they think it is cool to operate a business this way? Like, they think their rundown shop makes them look cool? That is fine. But at least keep your items stocked!
There was not one single thing of use to me here. And most of their herbs and oils were not in stock. I came here with a pocket full of cash, willing to spend. But there was nothing worth spending my money on here. It was just a bunch of.. . random stuff. Cheap and corny stuff. More like Halloween at the Michael’s Craft Store or the Spirit Halloween Store than a true Metaphysical Shop that is worth spending any time at.
I brought my Mother and Aunt here, for them to experience their first Metaphysical shop. (They are strictly Christian and this was supposed to be an eye opening experience for them, in a good way.) They left heavily dissapointed, confused and upset.
Lastly, the staff.. .
We were ignored the entire time we were here. No greeting when we walked in. No goodbye when we left. Eventhough they were at the register the entire time and we were within full view of them. It made us feel as if we were intruding upon their time and space. When we asked for help, we had to ask several times and loudly. And even then, the woman running the place did not even bother to look up from her book when she spoke to us. The woman who works here kept on huffing and puffing loudly when she was around us. And talking sarcastically under her breath and giving us the evil eye. Whenever she needed to pass by us in the store, she would hit us pretty hard! She even started yelling at the boy who works there right in front of us! They started fighting! Talk about bad energy!
I was looking for a shop willing to explain things to us and help us. With a comforting energy. THIS is NOT that type of place. When we left without purchasing anything, they were very angry.
Never going back here ever again.
Another thing, the cats who live here appear underfed, dirty and ill.

My favorite store (Points of Lights) was closed so I wanted to check out this place due to hearing about it from Unilocal.I read the reviews but wanted to give it a try. Right as I walk in I came across a couple of black cats. They were sweet and talkative. The lady running the shop was busy but she didn’t acknowledge me until I asked if I could walk into the back (I didnt know if I was allowed). But that didn’t bother me since I like to explore on my own. Automatically walking in the shop did smell like cat pee with incense trying to cover up the smell but there wasn’t poop on the floor or anything. The shops looked old. And I mean old as in Edgar Allan Poe. The lighting was a bit dim, yellow tint to everything, and it looked as if the store came from the 1800s. I thought it was a bit eerie but cool. As I looked around I realized a lot of their items weren’t stocked but they had cute knick knacks decorating the tables and walls. They had a couple of things in stock I’ve never seen before which was awesome but I was surprised that their candles were only one sized colorful star shaped ones no variety. They had tons of books and oils.
The reason I gave them 2 stars. I completely ignored all the other reviews because I enjoyed exploring the store. I am extremely sensitive to energy and something in there triggered me. It wasnt until I started to get to the back of the store where I was hit with a really bad headache and then the smell started to bother me. Thinking it was just the smell getting to me since I have a sensitivity to smells I realized a couple minutes in it was something actually triggering it not a smell. As I walked around the store I tried to find out what it was and I ended up finding it. And as soon as I did I started to realize that «bad vibe» or «bad energy» everyone was talking about. It was so intense I felt like I had to run out of the store. I tried to pull through so I could give the books a good look but I couldnt. I casually walked out then felt so relieved. I even had a bad vision when I was in there. I went to Points of Lights afterwards and realized that store never gave me those energy vibes even though that store has so many figurines. I might go again just to give it another try but thats the first time I’ve ever felt so threatened by a store. If you’re sensitive to energy just dont go.

I really miss the way this store used to be stocked to the hilt with so many things. However, it still has the best selection I’ve seen anywhere… The people who work there are knowledgeable and helpful. Also, I have never had to but they do ship orders to you…
