The Bungalow

My girlfriend’s best girlfriend’s cousin’s ex-​boyfriend, always talked about Bungalow West. He said it was filled with young people, fairly priced, large portions, great service, clean restrooms, and excellent quality food, prepared perfectly. He added that he and all of all of his surfer friends, spend all their time there when not chasing waves. He also said that the Bungalow West had the best hamburgers he has ever tasted. I was really in the mood for a good hamburger, so we went.
The menu said that the burgers were 100% certified prime beef, and that they weighed a half pound. Most places do not advertise prime beef in hamburgers, because it is not necessary to buy it, at a tremendous premium, when it is cheaper just to add some ground beef fat, and mix it in with the ground meat. Of course, the smart thing to do would be to make your burgers from a fatty part of the cow, such as chuck, that has an excellent fat/​meat ratio, that is necessary in order to make a hot and juicy burger, without the need to pay more for the privilege.
I ordered a medium rare cheeseburger, and it came with french fries, tomato, onions, on a sesame bun. Everything, except the burger itself, was average. The burger was big and thick, but it looked like a piece of meat loaf, and had breading and seasoning mixed into it. It was impossible to taste the meat, and savoring that beefy taste is why people order a prime grade burger. Also, I ordered a strawberry milkshake. It was $ 6.50, tasted of artificial flavorings, and I had to order a Coke, and use it as a mouthwash, to get that strong chemical taste out of my mouth.
There is a test that will tell you, in advance, if you will like Bungalow West. Order a copy of the cult classic movie «Fast Times at Ridgemont High,» You will enjoy the movie, either way, but you will either like and admire, or find nothing in common with the character «Jeff Spicoli» played by Sean Penn. If you are just like Spicoli, or wish you were, Bungalow West will be your favorite eatery. However, if you think that Spicoli is the exact opposite of what you would want your kids to be like, you will not like Bungalow West. As a matter of fact, if you are like Spicoli, you probably won’t even know or remember that you ate at Bungalow West. However, let me remind you that it is a place where you are overcharged, and poorly served, food and drinks of low-​quality, artificial flavors, and fillers.
I wish I was able to forget that I had ever been there, but all Unilocalers are required to have «Total Recall.»

Craziest experience I ever had ordering delivery. I called for a delivery and a woman picked up the phone, when I asked for delivery she said okay hold on and put the phone down. She did not put it on hold so I could hear everything. I heard her making smoothies or something and talking to people. So I hang up after a few minutes and called again and she literally did the exact same thing. So I gave it one more shot since I really was craving the place and she did it again. I couldn’t believe it I hung up and called again and was gonna ask to speak to the manager and now the line was busy, obviously from her leaving three lines open. I gave up but I tried to call back 30 mins later to complain and the line was still busy. Can you believe that, because I truly couldn’t.
Completely unacceptable, I will stick with the east end location.

Bungalow west started out great but has steadily gone down in quality. 45 minutes for salad and a panini on a quiet day while 3 employees talk at the counter is not ok.

Love this place! Personally like this location more than the one on the east end (despite the parking situation) its just a bit more spacious and cleaner. I always get the Jetty Juice, medium is the way to go because the price is right. Best smoothies!!! The tofutti is everything. Perfect lunch if you’re coming back from laying on the beach all day. I always get a wrap, its just so fun and easy to eat on a hot summer day. I recommend the South of the Boarder wrap with avocado, or the Baja Shrimp wrap.

They were closed by 11:00pm on Sunday night!

This place has the worst take out and delivery service! The girl answering the phone doesn’t know the menu so don’t ask her a question! Then they deliver half the order! Stick to West End Pizza!

I love the food here which is why I keep coming back. It is delicious! Breakfast wraps, smoothies and salads are excellent. However, almost every time I order delivery, the order is wrong/​missing something. I ordered to the beach recently and spent a decent amount of money on lunch for 3 ppl. I had no napkins, Forks, knives or straws. I called back and it took an additional 15 minutes for them to bring those items. (This was on top of the hour we already waited for the food). I am leaving this review in hopes that their delivery/​to go service pays more attention to details because I truly think they have a great product!

I am a huge fan of this place. I love their Chai tea lattes, and their breakfast tacos were on point. The atmosphere and staff are both laid back and chill. I will be here again and again!

Just a decent place to grab a sandwich if you don’t want to belly up somewhere. Bungalow is basically a diner with a beach theme, the menu is sandwiches and burgers and quesadillas. They serve breakfast too, eggs, pancakes and the like. Everything I’ve had there is just… decent. It filled me up, it was satisfactory, can’t really complain. If there was one thing about bungalow that stood out… smoothies. They make excellent fruit smoothies that are surprisingly helpful to your Sunday hangover. And if it’s a weeknight and you’ve earned a protein shake, they make delicious ones. I recommend the vanilla butter, and have heard the blueberry butter is good too.
Bungalow…you’re solid.

Food is great. I love the barbecue chicken quesadilla, so good! Service is good and very fast. Everything on the menu looks delicious.

I have a confession.
I don’t like burritos. Or wraps. They get too full and they break and it’s just sadness all around.
But the Thai Chicken wrap sounded delicious, so I got it as a rice bowl! They were flexible with the ordering and all of the ingredients were fresh. The chicken and peppers were chopped small enough that you get a taste of everything in one bite which is awesome.
My mom got the Cuban panini and the plain cheese quesadilla. It was our first time having anything from here so we didn’t know. We weren’t warned. It all happened so fast. So. Much. Food. We could have propped up the quesadilla and camped under it. Two days later and I may just finish this rice bowl (which was only 9.95) for lunch.
Delivery was quick (30 min). The guy that delivered our food was nice. And handsome. I tripped going out the door to sign for it. Still picking up the remains of my dignity off my porch. And having my neighbors sign for any future orders.

I ordered the other night for the first time. Everything was great! I will definitely be ordering the chicken skewers over rice again!

I have had bungalow west twice. Being honest, food was average both times. Nothing special. Service was also just ok. Nice people but it took a while and food was room temperature by the time I ate it.

This place is awesome. Walked in not too early on a Satuday morning (maybe 10 AM) and there wasn’t any wait. It has this vibe that you’re in a kind of tiki bar which i thought was really cool. I ordered this omelette with grilled onions and mushrooms and a side of whole wheat toast with butter. Best omelette that I’ve ever had in a while. I’m moving down to Long Beach in a few months and I can definitely say that I will be coming here once I do.
