Stearns Liquor

This is a great liquor store to grab a bottle of wine, a fancy taquela and a nice craft beer. The staff is very friendly and very helpful.
I have been to this store on several occasions and have never been disappointed. If your lucky enough you may even be able to find an Easter egg or two of some hard to find craft brews. The prices are on point and the selection is solid. Needless to say, I will be back.

I went to Stearns Liquor to get Long Beach Jerky. The sales clerk was extremely friendly and helpful. He knew the products very well and gave me great info. I was there another time buying and checking multiple lotto tickets and the clerk that day was also very kind and patient. They have a great selection of not just liquor but snacks as well. Try the candy bar at the register. It’s a $ 6 candy bar but it’s divine!

Little confused about all the «price gouging» comments on here. I spent well over an hour browsing and shopping for beers I can’t find where I live and actually noticed a lot of stuff was priced LOWER than most places. Eh, you get what you pay for friends. You want a great craft beer or a good bottle of whiskey, you’re not going to pay Budweiser prices. Decent selection, friendly staff and a few hard to find crafts are always a plus in my book.

Great selection but VERY bad service! Two of the clerks have extremely bad attitudes and no nothing about the beer they sell. They do NOT cares to put the correct price on their beer. I asked them why they have $ 25.00 beers in an $ 8.99 spot. The clerk said (he did not care). If you like paying to much for beer and don’t care about service then this is the liquor store for you.

Another store that price gouges customers. Selling «rare» items for 2X-​10X the actual MSRP. No respect for the consumer.

Lady answered the phone today with a pretty bad attitude. Almost as if she was upset that she didn’t know what Stone brew was. She put the phone down and I had to listen to her slam the register and other objects next to it. She never even came back to the line after about 6 minutes just started having conversation with others. Lost a sale of a few kegs, if they even had that. Heard the selection was good and hope I can update this rating.

I’ve been here 2 – 3 times so far, and each time I’ve been ignored as I’ve walked in. «How are ya doing?» I ask. Silence. *sigh* Ok, I’ll just look around then…
A decent-​to-​good selection of craft beer, but so does a ton of other places these days. I saw several out of code beers, as well as beer with dirty bottles, dirty labels, and even a few moldy labels. Not good. I’ll give the place 2 stars because the selection is decent and it’s in a convenient location, but from now on I’ll just go to Whole Foods.

Based on all the reviews, I thought I’d pop by and give a look at their wine selection. I hoped that they carried something unusual rather than the «norm» but to no avail. They do have a nice craft beer selection but, I left empty handed as my warm and fuzzy feeling, quickly turned cold and prickly when the clerk looked «put out» when I inquired about a particular item. I prefer California Heights market for craft beer… Bottom line? No going back!

Large bottle shop with almost all beer in fridges. Good organization. Staff was friendly and did offer to help me 2 – 3 times. The problem here is the pricing was just jaw dropping for some stuff. Random +$ 2 on just about every bottle I saw. Didn’t see anything I had to have so scrolled past.

An hour late to opening! This is like the 4^th time these bozos have been late to open in very nearly as many days. If I am planning a beer kick session with friends this is CRAZY unacceptable.
I know there are other places but this one’s close and even though their selection is half ass at best, it’s convenient that they are down the street from me.
I sat here waiting cause I had the time and watched as 8 people drove up parked for a moment then left in disgust. A loud fuck you yelled out by one guy driving off said it all.
This shoppe can not be long for this world at this rate. You piss off enough people enough times and they will dump your ass like a shitty bottle of beer.
So let’s see how long they can tell their customers to fuck off before the customers say it right back at them.

3 frigg’n more in the last few minutes. How do these sots stay in business. This is absolutely epic, I am gonna stick it out just to see the final tally. Hey guys, feel that? It’s the tingle of impending financial doom. You have too much excelent competition to keep this up!

This place has an excellent craft beer selection!!! The fridge room has the best beer so recommend checking there first! The staff was very helpful and made great beer recommendations! Definitely a great place to try new craft brews

Excellent selection on crafts beer! Love that all their beers are refrigerated and the service is excellent. I come here every week or when they post something I’d like to try on their instagram.
Will continue to come here. Oh and stumbling in and seeing a box of Pliny the Elders is pretty awesome.

If you love craft beer then this is the place for you. They have a lot of selections from local breweries and they announce limited shipments on their social media outlets. They have a good selection of 22oz bottles in their walk-​in cooler which range from $ 4-​$ 8 for your average choices ranging to an upwards of $ 20. They also carry 4 and 6 packs located in the back corner outside of the walk-​in cooler.
They also sell glassware for beer such as snifters and pint glasses which go at a decent price and if you normally drink from the bottle you should definitely up your experience by pouring into glassware.
They also sell soda’s and they have a good selection of root beer here which I pick up time to time.
The staff is really cool and have walked up to me a few times to ask if I needed advice or anything because I’m sure they understand that the selection sometimes leaves people dumbfounded. There’s always beer advocate and rate beer if you have your smart phone on you!

They have everything and a great selection of beer! Wish this is in our neck of the woods!

Sure you can probably purchase some of the same bottles at Lazy Acres or maybe Whole Foods, but the excitement of new brews all the time is what gets us going back to Stearn’s. It also helps that they announce new brews via Instagram and Facebook. Sucks when they sell out of one you like because you’ll never know when/​if they will restock but it does get you to try different beers.
Great selection. They even have a walk-​in cooler. If you’re overwhelmed, you can always ask somebody for recommendations. Or … They have an app for that: Rate Beer! Be careful and check for prices before getting to the counter.
Looking for something stronger? They also carry wine and hard liquor like bourbons.

You can’t go wrong with this place. The beer selection is always on point. They carry a variety of beer as well as liquor. The guys here know there stuff about beers. Just ask and they will be very kind to help you out. Probably our go to liquor store to get quality beer. Stop by and buy a beer, or two.

Good selection of craft beers and the owner loves craft beer as well. They have some decent prices on some beers, but on beers without price tags beware: make sure you ask for the price before you get rung up. I ended up paying $ 14 for a single bottle of a beer that should have only cost $ 9. I didnt want to turn the beer down due to price after the owner talked to me for so long about beer i wanted to patronize him. A
I just felt slightly taken advantage of but lesson learned. Check the prices before you buy.
Also, ignore what the owner says about other liquor stores. He’ll say other stores overcharge on certain beers and thats why they still have inventory on rare beers but this store does the same thing so definitely go visit other liquor stores.

OKAY sounds weird, but I don’t drink but this place is awesome. It really is.
My boyfriend loves beer, all kinds of beer, so I took him to this place. He loved it, so if he’s happy– I’m happy. Staff is helpful and there are so many choices it’s overwhelming. Stayed for a little while and he picked out a load of beers. Easy parking and not too hard to find in Long Beach. They have rare beers that are pricier and the ones people all know. Great variety.
Coming again for parties and other junk. Was fun discovering all the options they had!

The selection here is remarkable, no doubt about that. But a few of the beers I purchased the other day don’t seem very fresh — I love the Simtra triple IPA from Knee Deep, but the bottle I bought here tasted old and malty. Same goes for the 4-​pack of Modern Times’ Blazing World, which I normally adore. Gonna chalk it up to odd timing and go back eventually.
