RC Hi-Tech

I cannot say enough good about this shop. They have worked on two of my vehicles, and have been very honest and timely. In fact, they even went as far as telling me I did not need to change my brakes, as they had plenty more miles of use on them, which was a pleasant save of money after their free adjustment. I have also suggested several friends to them, all of whom had equally as good experiences.

I took my car here a couple months ago to have my 2000 Toyota inspected. In order to pass the smog check, my car had to go through some diagnostic/​repairs (check engine light was active). I was eligible to receive a $ 500 voucher through the Consumer Assistance Program (CAP). I took it to this shop and the owner advised that they could fix the issue.
A day after the voucher was approved, the owner explained that additional work needed to be done. The additional cost was an extra $ 350 on top of the voucher, totaling $ 850. I was a little skeptical but went ahead and allowed them to make the additional repairs. And that was a mistake.
After I received a call informing that the car was ready for pick up, the owner advised to drive another 50 miles (side streets and freeway) to see if the check engine light comes back on. If so, I should bring it back to conduct further diagnostics.
After driving it for about 20 miles on the freeway (carpool lane) the car engine automatically shut down and was no longer operative. I had to push my car to the side of the freeway. (UNSAFE conditions).
Towed it back to RC Hi-​Tech and when I informed them about my car engine shutting down, the owner scratched his head and said that he will exam the car more thoroughly once his son gets back. At this point, I was pretty upset at the situation.
After I got home, the owner called back and advised the engine is locked and the car can no longer be operative. Basically, the car is done! All he could say was «sorry.» Very upsetting… a car that was working fine before drop off and now had to be salvaged. The cost to fix it exceeded the value of the vehicle so ended up donating it away. What a hassle! It is safe to say that I will NOT be coming here again.

Rc High Tech Helpes my 1988 Honda Civic Pass Smog. They repaired holes to the gas tank and gas lines. The prices are more expansive than othe places but they get the job done! and if its not done right they will do the repair for free! I will be coming back soon!

We have found our new mechanic. He has repaired three of our vehicles at a fair price and on time. Our fourth vehicle so clearly failed smog it was deemed a gross polluter and he graciously stored our vehicle until the tow could pick it up.

Easy to find, tons of parking, they take Visa and most of all are highly skilled in what they do. Getting my Car Smogged here was a breeze and I will definitely be recommending this place to all my colleagues! I don’t know what the negative review was talking about, seeing as the Techs spoke flawless English.

It would be helpful if the operators of this establishment knew how to read english. Due to their inability to do so, they erroneously disconnected the vacuum hose on my engine while running a test causing a «fail» immediately after a new exhaust system and catalytic converter had been installed in the vehicle.
It was only after several hundred dollars spent and additional smog tests did the owner show me the specs (in his book) for performing the test. It was then that I pointed out to him that he was reading it incorrectly.
«Oh so sorry…» That didn’t get my money back or the time I and my mechanic wasted.
Stay clear of this place!
