Best Asian food I’ve ever had. Food is always fresh, quantity always leaves leftovers and flavor is just amazing.
Orange Chicken, Garlic Jalapeño Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Filet Mignon, Beef Short Ribs, 3 flavor hand cut chow mein, 3 flavor fried rice, chicken egg rolls. Perfect menu for dinner

This is my new favorite place to eat. All soup is fantastic and huge portions all homemade and fresh.
My other fav is the 3 flavor Chow Mein with handmade noodles!
I eat here 3 — 4 time a week

I keep eating here, hoping to find a single dish that is less than fantastic, but no luck so far. ALL of the food here is great. If given the option, pay the extra for the hand made noodles, you won’t regret it. The prices may seem high but the portions are large enough that I always have leftovers. And the leftovers are so good, I’m still amazed by the food the following day.
I am also impressed by the diversity of the people eating here.
I ate here a few weeks ago and will probably be back in February to impress my parents.
Note: there is no bar here, so don’t expect alcohol.

After years of eating sub-​standard and average Chinese food (P.F Changs, Big Bowl, etc.), Nomad Asian Bistro feels like a breath of fresh air. Food is very yummy and is served in good portion sizes. We ordered the Jalapeño Chicken, Curry chicken and fried rice and liked all three. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Long Beach area.

A big thanks to the people that own and run this establishment. Very kind and friendly humans.(despite all the annoying people that go there) The food is great. Best halal Chinese food iv had in so many years.

I didn’t think it’s possible to find an authentic Chinese restaurant in Long Beach, but here it is.
While it’s certainly not the best tasting Chinese restaurant in SoCal, it gets the job done within two miles of my house. My son and I ordered the da lu mian and a soup. The portion size is huge, so we had to pack some to-​go (I almost never have leftovers, but even my stomach was overwhelmed by the quantity of food). The onion cake was perfectly done too.
By the way, everything is halal, and there is a mixture of Chinese and Muslim customers. I will definitely be returning.

Ordered delivery on Christmas (via Postmates) and ever dish was delicious. We had:
Hand pulled chow fun
Mongolian Beef
Beef and Broccoli
Orange Chicken
Kung Pao chicken
Scallion Pancake

Spectacular service, great taste, and HUGE PORTIONS. At first $ 10-​$ 15 a plate seems expensive, but there’s enough to feed a small family. Great to share with 2 – 3 people– but if you’re not sharing, the food makes amazing leftovers to take home.
My boyfriend and I always get an appetizer, and love sharing the Scallion Pancake. The two of us eat all of it even though it’s probably meant for 4 people. If you’re a beef lover but like the flavor and consistency of Orange Chicken, try their Orange Beef. They have a variety of delicious teas (including the BEST Thai tea) with free refills! The menu has plenty of wonderful vegetarian options as well. I wanted the Seasonal Vegetables but with fried tofu, and they made it for me with no fuss at all. I was very impressed with the kindness of the staff!
It’s very hard to find good Asian food that isn’t overly greasy or heartburn-​inducing. Nomad is flavorful without tasting or feeling unhealthy. With such tasty food at a great value, it’s understandable that the place is also popular. Come at around 5 or earlier to avoid the dinner rush. If you have to come any later, you might have to wait a bit– but trust me, the food is well worth it.

Nomad Asian Bistro is a gem & the best restaurant in Long Beach. Seriously excellent Chinese food in a very unassuming part of the city; tucked away behind a shopping center off the PCH. I look forward to returning again.

One of the best deals for lunch around. Seriously, five stars because of all the delicious food we received for ~$ 40 for four people! This is definitely a place to take your friends/​family in Long Beach for Chinese food, especially for lunch on the weekends.
All the lunch dishes come with hot and sour soup and rice ($ 1 for extra hot and sour soup if someone does not order a lunch plate!) The hot and sour soup is perfect for colder weather and comes in a very large portion!
We ordered:
Scallion Pancakes ($ 4) — four LARGE slices! I enjoyed these, but not my favorite of the day.
Honey Walnut Shrimp ($ 12.50) — my favorite! Comes with a generous portion of sweet, tangy, creamy, crispy shrimp and candied walnuts.
Kung Pao Chicken ($ 8.50/9?) — I love the fact that there was lots of peanuts in this, other than that this is actually my boyfriends and brother’s favorite dish. There’s no complaining.
Fish with seasonal vegetables ($ 9) — the winter’s vegetables were snow peas, water chestnuts, carrots, mushrooms, broccoli. This dish was a good neutral dish to cleanse the palate of all the stronger flavors.
Also got the free vegetable egg roll with check in! Mmmm.
I’m very interested to try the handmade noodles next time I dine here.
Interior very much matches the name of the restaurant and definitely has an Asian feel. Service is friendly, quick, and knowledgeable.
Great hidden gem in Long Beach with awesome lunch deals.

Took my roommate here for her bday dinner. It was excellent. So ‘california’! The servings are so enormous we got full just looking at the food haha. Honey walnut shrimp, the specialty noodles and jalapeño chicken, all so good! Wish we had something just as good in Chicago. Can’t beat Asian food in cali. So happy it’s halal :)

FOOD: We tried the kung pao tofu, hand-​made chow mein, and the spicy green beans. The dishes when viewed individually were good, but after I tried all three, I realized they all seemed to use the same sauce. The dishes ended up tasting very similar. The hand-​made chow mein was tasty — I liked the chewy texture.
AMBIENCE: The interior is spacious, but the acoustics are awful. It’s like an echo chamber and it got really loud. There was a large group gathered for a birthday celebration, so I don’t know if the volume was louder than normal. It wasn’t well ventilated either on a 90+ degree day.
SERVICE: When she was present, our waitress was nice, but it felt like the place could use more staff. It took awhile for our orders to be placed. We did not get refills for our waters and we didn’t bother to ask.
VERDICT: I like the food. But if this place is crowded next time I’m here, I would order to go.

Chinese Halal food! Where have you been all my life?! Oh that’s right, I didn’t know you existed!
There is so much history infused in food. Large population of Muslims in China? Who knew?! I hope I’m not making it look like I have lived under a rock and I hope other people aren’t aware of this fact as well.
Chinese Islamic cooking methods are identical to Beijing cuisine with the only difference being the materials used due to religious restrictions. There seems to be an emphasis on noodles and soups and I have to say holy hallelujah the noodles here are bomb dot com. They are freshly made noodles and you can taste the difference instantaneously. You must come in just for the noodles.
My GF and I shared 2 entrees. Yes the food here is pricey but the the portion size can feed an Islamic family of 80.

It’s the ACE in the deck.
The Italian-​Chino Lou kept raving about this place to me at work. Says it’s some legit stuff in the LBC. Bragged about how it had the authentic Chinese wok cooking with the great Halal spices. Not going to lie, I thought he was trying to troll me again. It took some convincing but the homie knows I’m all about that aZn cooking.
I finally caved. G and I decided to take that drive down PCH to see what the craze was all about. G’s lineage is of Hong Kong descendants so I knew Lou was going to get a good chewing if this spot let her down.
Before you park on the wrong side and walk all over the darn place like we did, I’ll tell you exactly where you need to go. If you enter from PCH, go to the right side and look for Tilted Kilt. Nomad is located behind them, discretely nestled in the back corner of the entire shopping plaza.
Our first attempt, we went a tad bit overboard. The ever so popular beef roll, chicken corn soup, Szechuan chili sole fillet, and the three flavor spicy fried rice. Although we had to pack this stuff home, we were really happy to do so. Surprisingly, everything was legit. You truly take the good cooking of Chinese food and infuse it with some Middle Eastern herb and spices. You can really taste it especially in the three flavor spicy fried rice. Nothing wrong with boring white/​brown rice, but when you have this fried rice on the menu, you outta treat yourself with it.
Besides the fried rice, the Szechuan chili sole filet is a definite must order. There’s a nice spice kick to it in terms of the chili you see in the sauce as well as the chili sesame oil. You see whole slices of garlic mixed in so you know you’ll have some lovely make out breath the minute you take your first bite.
Not going to take anything away from the beef roll. They’re huge for one. They don’t skimp out on the fillings and if you need them to cut them up into portions that would make it easier for the peeps in your party, they will happily oblige. I’ll get to this in a sec.
The first impression created long lasting ones. Fast forward about two months later, we made our return to confirm that Nomad is truly a top contender in our lists. This time, I invited some true 626 Asian peeps with me. This was another test. They were hesitant like my first shot at this place, but they eventually rolled out. This time, we were five deep so we were able to order more. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you order family style.
We again went with the beef roll and Szechuan chili sole fillet. Our server saw that we had five people on our table so she asked me if it was okay if they can cut up the beef roll into six pieces. Even better I thought. We ordered the honey walnut shrimp, handmade chow mein, Mongolian beef, and the spicy green beans. The first two order came out exactly how we had it the first time, spot on. I can typically only eat two shrimps max of the honey walnut shrimp at most Chinese restaurants because it’s stupidly rich. However, I was able to eat a few here. If you love this dish normally, get it so I can snatch some up from you.
The handmade chow mein and Mongolian beef were decent but didn’t leave that wow factor for me. If I needed a carb dish, I would rather revisit the three flavor fried rice or try a different rice/​noodle dish. By the way, our server got us both brown and white rice in our container since the peeps on our table had different preferences.
The spicy string beans wasn’t as spicy but we definitely all enjoyed it. One of the guys on the table said he rates Chinese restaurants based on this dish alone. If it fails, the entire meal is a bust. He gave me that 626 chin nod and smirk confirming to me that he approved this dish.
All in all, I believe my guests enjoyed this meal. That was act two and again, we all left quite full and impressed. The service was friendly and fast. We had the same female server both times. She’s the short Asian girl that smiles a lot. Super nice and always seemingly on a good high.
Nomad Asian Bistro, you guys are legit. The food will wake up your taste buds and leave you calling for more. Who knew there would be such a harmony between Chinese and Halal inspired food. The food here is «permissible» for all (go Wiki «Halal»).

I’ve worked in Long Beach for years and I’ve just about given up on finding good food there, let alone good Chinese food. There have been so many times where I’ve visited 4.5 star rated places in LB only to be tricked. Nomad has a 4.5 star Unilocal rating, is in LB, doesn’t look like a Chinese restaurant inside, and doesn’t really have many Chinese people working inside either. HUGE red flag. Turns out this place is legit. It is a little pricier than your average Chinese restaurant… but I guess this isn’t your average Chinese restaurant.

Beef Noodle Soup — One of the better ones I’ve had. I live in the SGV and I’ve tried this dish from SO many different places. This one is spicy but not over the top. The soup is flavorful, the noodles are good, and the beef quality is good

The manager is the rudest woman I have ever interacted with at any restaurant. Grim-​faced with not a single smile on her face!
I came here with a party of 10 at 8:15 pm (they close the kitchen at 9). A restaurant should not care how late a customer walks in so long as the kitchen is open and food is serving. I don’t know any restaurant that says the kitchen closing at a certain time means bringing out ALL the food at once.
The manager started bringing out the food, she said she can’t with raised eyebrows and the tone in which she communicated with us was awfully rude and disrespectful. I understand a server might talk like that but a manager speaking to a customer in this manner is a really bad look on the business especially when you have first timers joining the party. And if you treat your customer like this, please do not put a gratuity on our check or if you do, then expect us to take it up with the owner. If I don’t like customer service, I should not have to pay a hefty tip.
I am going to be fair: the food is pretty good and the stars are only for the food. This time we tried the short ribs. They were delicious. I did not care for the sweet and sour chicken. The rest I already covered in my previous review.
I guess you want to come to this place during the day because they don’t value customers walking in at 8.
