OK so I have been here several times for a sandwich. The sandwiches are so-so, not bad for 2.50. Definitely come here if you’re looking to get a decent(won’t knock your socks off) banh mi for cheap. If you want much nicer, go to Number 9 on 4th st. The French bread is fresh and tasty, the vegetables well put together with just the right amount of spice and pickling. Yes, they could lose the abundance of flies all over the place, but im not picky. My only beef? The service. Let me preface this by saying when I was in undergrad, I worked retail and food service. I know what its like. I know that its hard work and you just want to go home at the end of your shift. I also understood that we didn’t close until closing time/the last customer left. We never expected to leave at close because there is always cleanup. They are supposedly open until 6:30pm. Supposedly. I usually try to get there by 5pm, if at all, or even earlier. The two times I have come at 6pm(30min before close) or latest 6:10, looking for only a quick cold sandwich, here’s what happened: 1. Even though I’m a polite regular customer, I was yelled at – yes, yelled – glared at, and told that I need to come earlier because«I’m tired and we already finished cleaning already.» I decided someone was having a bad day and decided to give them another try. Which brings me to incident # 2. Came at 6 yesterday, door was open, lady said«we are closed» I said«really? I asked and you all said you close at 6:30» caught in a lie, she silently made a sandwich. I was still out the door by 6:05. Seriously? Fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice… well…they’ve lost my business.

Love this place. Every time I’m in town to visit my grams I come here and get the Vietnamese sandwiches, Thai tea boba and beef stew soup

Showed up at 7pm on Friday and even though the restaurant was full, they informed me that they were closed. Oh really? Maybe they didn’t want to serve us. Terrible.

Can’t beat $ 2.50 for a Vietnamese sandwich! The sandwich is okay. I had chicken and it wasn’t as flavorful as the pork. They did put mayo on it which was odd but not terrible. It’s your basic hole in the wall.

Near perfection(bbq pork sandwich, iced coffee) well worth the wait since they carefully toast the bread. No vegetarian, but tuna and sardine. Tourists beware. ============== Used to be a four star review, but slowly dropped over the last year. The last time I went, they had only two of ten sandwich choices. Don’t waste my time.

This place is mega ghetto. The photo on here looks nothing like the places does now. Little kid crying in a stroller in the kitchen. Place dirty and run down. My Banh Mi was nasty and I’ll probably get some food poisoning. Note how old the other reviews are for this place. Go a few more blocks East on Anaheim and get a good sandwhich at the new Lee’s that just opened. Your stomach will thank you.

The Banh Mi Sandwiches here are average at best. Do not expect it to be on par with the sandwiches you’ve tasted down in Little Saigon or Lee’s Sandwiches or Banh Mi Cali. The egg rolls you see in the heat lamps are average at best and I do not recommend them. I’ve tasted better elsewhere. Even Lee’s Sandwiches egg rolls are tastier. It’s better than going to Church’s Chicken which is next to this plaza if you’re trying to eat better or healthier. Overall, I like it for the quickness since I don’t have time to wait around for food to be made in 20 minutes or more. If you go here during 12pm lunch time, expect a wait as any other places know that’s a prime time money maker for them. No issues, never gotten sick eating here, and would recommend it to anyone down here in central Long Beach.

This place takes a really really long time to make everyhing. I was waiting or 20 minutes for one sandwich and there wasn’t anyone else there. Also, they use powder for their smoothies which is lame. Most importantly, they claim to be a Vietnamese banh mi shop, but noone speaks Vietnamese and I believe it is owned by Cambodians… please go elsewhere for banh mi!

Wow… Nick H and I are for once, not on the same page. Roo and I really liked the sandwiches and the coffee. Don’t ask for café sua da… they don’t know what that is. Just ask for«coffee». As for the sandwich, it’s not the best banh mi… but it hit the spot, was open early and the patrons were friendly(this seems to be fairly common in LB businesses). I’d definitely come back for a quick, satisfying sandwich.

Found this place as I was exploring asian restaurants close to my new job in Downtown LB. Got the Pork Banh Mi here… and I’ve definitely experienced better. The pork had a funny weird taste to it, the spread they used was salty as all hell, the sandwich was just generally gross. It just made me crave Lee’s Sandwiches even more. I think I will only stick to vietnamese restaurants when ordering Banh Mi sandwiches from now on… I mean seriously… how does this place get 4 – 5 stars???

Just came back from picking up some sandwiches, ordered a chicken as well as a BBQ pork Banh Mi and brought home some spring rolls. I was honestly kinda shocked that the total was only 6.50 for the two sandwiches and the rolls, but i should’ve remembered that I wasnt at a Subway or Quiznos haha. The sandwiches were great, the veggies were awesome and I liked how the chili snuck up on me in the sandwich, I didn’t see any when I cracked em open so it was a pleasant surprise. My only gripe was that the bread crust was a bit tough, but maybe that was just from them roasting it before they prepared the order. It’s local, closer than Lees and while it doesn’t have the same vast menu, its good and close enough, and saves me a bit of gas. Will be coming back again!

Great value! I gave this place 5 stars because it is a great value for the food. You get a good Vietnamese sandwich for $ 2.50. The girls that work there are super friendly. I recommend the grilled chicken and ask for it spicy. I went to the place twice in one day for lunch than dinner. Loved it. The place is set in the off side of Long Beach but don’t be turned off by that. I was first turned on to these sandwiches off a catering truck at L.A. Pride. Than I found this place on Unilocal.I will be back.

Bolsa. That is where you get banh mi. Thanh Tam is a good choice. The banh mi here just not good. Hard Baguette and taste is missing. To make matters worse, the café sua da… yuk. They had some other food to go type items. If I was in a jam, I guess I might come back. There are way too many other places to eat in the area. I just have had better.

Yes it’s cheap, yes it’s one of a couple of places in LB that has Banh Mi but seriously, this is really sub-par Banh Mi! The last couple of times I went I could see the counter lady MICROWAVE the meat before putting it in the sandwich. That doesn’t give me any vote of confidence. The interesting Cambodian spices are… interesting but I’d rather drive the half hour to get me some Banh Mi and Che Cali! Also because of the Cambodian flair, it doesn’t even taste like how a Banh Mi should. Sad to report my first Unilocal Banh Mi fail.

This place has stood the test of time, including the LA riots! Vietnamese sandwiches, Banh Mi, used to be $ 1.50 and loaded. This is how I was introduced to pâté(liver paste) … yum! My favorite thing as a kid were the $ 1 pork buns. I swear they don’t make them like how they used to with half an egg, chinese sausage, peas, and mushroom inside! Reminds me of my childhood because I would always go here to get treats. A new owner has taken over but they still sell the same good stuff!

Extreme laziness set in, Westminster seemed all too far away for my banh mi craving, so a challenger appeared! My Le. The service is slow, so after ordering take a seat, ordered 3 «bbq chicken» sandwiches and a thai iced tea. The place is not owned by Vietnamese, its almost a Cambodian take on Viet sandwiches, but I don’t mind innovation so long as it tastes good Before even tasting anything, I was alarmed that I was not given the«3rd free» deal, I asked and they made up insincere excuse. Maybe it’s because I am not Asian and I looked too hipster to be able to save $ 2. Oh well I wasn’t prepared to fight for two measly dollars. Onto the food itself, it was ok, the chicken had a Cambodian lemongrass flavor that was different, not necessarily bad. All in all the bread was decent, the meat was ok, the pickled vegetables were also just ok. Forgettable, not bad, but very pedestrian. The thai iced tea was weak and had a strange onion aftertaste, but for the price I am not going to complain. Next time I’ll take the trek to Westminster for Banh Mi Che Cali! The travel time is totally worth it.

I shop at the kim heng asian market in the same shopping center all the time and stopped of here after reading some reviews. I ordered 6 sandwiches for some friends and myself. I was wondering about the buy 2 get one free deal but she didn’t mention it and I didn’t bring it up. As she’s ringing me up some people come in and she explained the deal to them. I asked where my free sandwich was at and she said the deal didn’t apply to me cause I got veggie sandwiches?! I was about to tell her to gimme the meat on the side so I could get my free sammich. Stupid. And the«vietnamese» sandwich wasn’t that great. A lot of mayo. Would be one star but 2 bucks is still pretty cheap for a sandwich.

Not to be a Vietnamese sandwich snoob, but I can definitely say that I’ve had better sandwiches back from home. I might have to go back to My Le and order again because honestly, I want to be wrong about it this. How hard is it to make a Vietnamese sandwich? Granted, for the price of $ 2, one wouldn’t expect much, but these are suppose to be really good sandwiches. Add a thai ice-tea(wasn’t bad) and you have a quick lunch for under $ 5. It was a really disappointing experience, but check back again soon for another assessment. I’m trying to give My Le a second chance.

How can you not love Vietnamese sandwiches? They’re tasty and cheap! Where else can you get a big sandwich for under $ 2! Certainly not Subway or Quiznos! They offer regular mixed meats, meatloaf, chicken or pork. All on toasted french bread with mayo flavored spread, pickled veggies, chili pepper slices and a sprig of green(cilantro?). It’s filling and great for on-the-go eating! As if that’s not reason enough to go; they offer Chinese/Cambodian food-to-go, desserts and boba! The ladies who work there are friendly. The place is small but packed with many good eats! The service is a bit slow but worth it. Plus, if you order 3 sandwiches get one free or order 6 get two free! Mmm…
