Mrs Chapman’s Angel Food Donut Shops

How is it that this lady is so rude? I just made my order a thousand times easier by saying a dozen assorted donuts when asked what I wanted. And she gives me 3 types of donuts of 12 pieces. I had to ask her if she could switch out some. Because of that I completely forgot to look at how many I had before driving away, the big sign that says «buy a dozen get 2 free donuts.» clearly it’s wrong when I received the exact number of 12 donuts. Was I suppose to ask for the free donuts?

When you’re having that sweet tooth you can always count on the donut shop to be open and after 4 o’clock by half a dozen get a dozen free my only complaint is there’s never enough maple bars to go around

Donuts + Drive Thru = Happiness. I have never sat inside, but it looks cozy and welcoming. This is a great stop for those very early mornings. The coffee and donuts are freshly made. Super inexpensive too. I got a dozen box of donuts for under about $ 8. Fast service and fantastic customer service.

Just had the best ham and cheese croissant from this place! Was in the area because the boyfriend gets his haircuts here, and I wanted something for breakfast. The croissant itself was light and fluffy in the inside and had a thin, crispy crust. Just the way a croissant should be. The cheese and ham were nice and warm. She told us that they were just made and they were nice and hot. Mind you it was around 11:40 and normally donut places don’t make the croissant sandwiches after a certain time. So it was a pleasant surprise to get a hot one. Will come back! Yum!

Place is awesome. Can’t beat a dual drive-​thru.
Donuts r fresh (in the mornings). Service is quick and there seems to always be a local person hangin out here, which is awesome to me cause you know they find this spot comfortable.
I’ve heard John Travolta filmed a movie here before, reckon why his pic is on the wall.

How this place doesn’t have 5 stars blows my mind. This donut shop is awesome. Stopped here on my way to a meeting to get a dozen donuts. They have dual drive thru windows which made it nice and easy to get in and out. When I pulled up to the window I was greeted by a friendly lady. I ordered my dozen donuts and she comes back with 14. In the mean time I was also greeted by 2 other very friendly ladies. Did I forget to mention the coffee? The coffee is so good I actually had to call a friend to tell about it. I will definitely be back here. The only drawback to this place would be that it isn’t closer to me :(

Cheap and very good donuts, plain and simple. All of the classic donuts taste good here.

I love that the donuts taste delicious — they have TWO drive thrus! — the lady working there is always so sweet and nice — and they have a full menu (although, I have never had anything but donuts).
Love that she gives us free donut holes for the littles.

Rude! I don’t care if your donuts are decent (not amazing just good), but why do you have to be Rude about it. I have been here a couple times due to the fact it is so close to work, and the women always look miserable. Never a smile, never are they nice. And I will no longer be going here after my last experience. Pulled up to the window and was greeted by the typical look from the girl inside I always would get. A look like I was wasting her time wanting to give her my business. Not pleasant at all just mean. So I ask for a chocolate bar. She leaves and one minute goes by, two minutes go by, three, then four. After about 5 minutes, and I am not exaggerating about the 5 minutes I just leave. Really? I ask for a donut I can see on the shelf, practically reach out and grab from my car, and you wonder off and get lost in a place the size of a broom closet for over 5 minutes? Again I am not making this up. It happened, and for this reason I will never patron your business again. By the way some of these have to be fake reviews. Anyone who states how good their customer service is has to be a fake. Good luck Mrs. Chapman, you may need it if you keep this up.

For late night munchies or a place to just chill for a quick second. this is the place. Can I say more that they’re opened late?

Yes, a drive thru donut shop! With 2 drive thru windows! Can you ask for anything better? Their ham, cheese, egg croissant is the best! I find myself craving their coffee! All you have to tell them is cream and sugar and they make it perfect every time!

Their donuts here are super delicious, just like the other Angel Food Donut place on Long Beach Blvd and Roosevelt.
The lady that worked the shop was really friendly and catered to my order exactly. I came in during National Donut Day so I expected this place to be really busy and probably sold out of donuts… BUT THEY WEREN’T!
My mom and I both have a sweet tooth so we were pleasantly thrilled with the fact that they had donuts AND THEY HAD MY FAVORITE KINDS.
I love french crullers, the round kind (I’ve posted a link to a picture of it in case you have no idea what it is:
) and this place actually had many of them in stock. They’re light and fluffy on the inside with a little glaze on top that makes the donuts not too sweet. You don’t see many donut places carry these in their shop. Now I’m hella craving one!
The box of a dozen donuts came out to about $ 6.50 (around 8pm when I bought them). WHAT A STEAL. And all the donuts were still perfectly good and tasty.
I will warn you that this place is a bit small so their donuts aren’t really on display like most donut shops. But that’s okay because she invites you over to take a look and pick the donuts that you want. Super friendly.

Oh yes! Finally i get to visit this place… I’ve heard they have some scrumptious blueberry & strawberry pieces… which I had to try.
Unilocal drove me to this place xD … The cash only thing was a bit of a turn-​off since I live on plastic, but it quickly dispersed when I entered the place. Neat, live, and awesome donut smells… Yes, I can differentiate. Since most stated the glazed are heaven, I got 3 of those. Two apple fritters, and some chocolate twists, along with some donut holes, and last but not least a ham & jap croissant. I had to save some for the wife, but boy. I did not want to share. Total was a little over 10 $… well worth it! I’d say this is better than the big chain places. Recommend 100%.

Since I moved to Long Beach I live less than half a block from Mrs. Chapman’s Angel Food Doughnut Shop. I, or one of my family members frequents the shop almost daily. As far as we are concerned the products are perfect. It doesn’t get any better than this. In fact, the donuts remind me of the way they were made 50 years ago. The young ladies who work there are friendly and hard working. No matter how busy it gets the service is fast. They seem to know what I am about to order as soon as I step in the door. I am glad Mrs. Chapman’s Angel Food Doughnut shop is in my neighborhood.

If you ever find yourself in this run down side of town, stop by this little donut shop. They have a drive through, which gives you as much insight as you would get if you walk in. They have an odd set-​up inside. I wanted to take a look at what they had, but they keep all the donuts behind the coffee shop-​like counter, so it’s hard to know what kind of donuts they have. I don’t know about others, but I really like to take a look at the donut display to know what I’m in the mood for.
I ended up ordering a ham and cheese croissant with pepper jack. It was great and very big. Coffee is o.k., donut shop quality. Service was friendly.

Looking for roadside attractions, I found Mrs. Chapman’s complete with a gigantic donut atop the little shop. The building shows her age, inside and out, but that’s part of her charm. I can say the apple fritters and maple bars are divine!
If you find yourself in this part of Long Beach, stop in for a donut and cup of coffee. Pop in or just go through the drive-​in. It feels just like the old days.

Love that you don’t have to get out of your car to get your donut, cause they have a drive through window!!! How awesome is that!!! Nice service and gets you in and out!

I live down the street and have been going here all my life. They have the best donuts in town. I always go there for their strawberry and cream cheese croissants and donuts. I just learned that they have blueberry muffins! LOVE THEM! Beats driving all the way down to M&M donuts. They’re never stale and always moist! Their coffees are brewed and delicious! Today I had their croissant sandwiches. YUM! They need to fix their menu because #5 says sausage, cheese, and egg croissant, but they gave us bacon instead. It was still yum but would’ve liked the sausage I was craving!
Overall, this is the best donut shop on the west!

I’ve been coming to this donut shop pretty much my whole life. They make my favorite custard filled donut ever, and they have a drive thru. It doesn’t really get better than that.
It’s totally in the ‘hood, so I wouldn’t stop here for a sit down breakfast or anything, but it’s a good spot for a quick fix sweet tooth, and it’s on the way to my mom’s. If you’re driving down Santa Fe, give the drive thru here a chance.
