The worst experience as a first time home buyer. Do Not Hire them! Get an attorney if you do. A corrupt industry.

DO NOT GO TO MIKE NORTON. My wife and I have been looking for an apartment in long beach for a few months now, and we finally found the perfect one on Zillow. The pictures were gorgeous. 1920s Spanish style apartment building with vaulted ceilings and a private gate. It was perfect. We went to the open house to see the place and what we saw was a completely different apartment from the pictures that were posted. It didn’t have the beautiful ceilings we had seen in the pictures and it was a lot smaller then anticipated. Mike Norton seemed like a great guy at first, and we actually still liked the apartment even though it wasn’t the one we expected to see. So mike told us to email him if we were interested, which we did about 10min after we left. Wasn’t expecting a reply that day so I was hoping to hear from him the next day. When that didn’t happen I called mike again and he played dumb and said go ahead and send the email again and I’ll send an application to you within the hour. Big surprise! We didn’t get an email. I sent the email multiple times and called him about 5 more times and left messages and nothing happened. We really wanted this apartment and it seemed like mike just didn’t care. If someone else had already been approved then tell us! Don’t duck our calls or say you’re gonna send application! I can’t believe how unprofessional Mike Norton was and frankly after reading these reviews, I am not the least bit surprised. Thanks Main Street realty for giving us a horrible experience!

Mike Norton was our property manager for our house in Lakewood. His suggestion for our renter was a single older man with one dog. This is our first time using a property manager. We took his suggestion. Roll forward 2 years. We’ve decided to sell house. He becomes angry & quits. We go with our new realtor to the house. There are 5 people & 3 Hugh dogs– we are not clear if he allowed 3or 4 sublets in! Mike Norton is a disgrace to the realtor community & should have his license revoked!

As a first-​time home buyer, I was particularly appreciative of the tremendous service provided by Main Street Realtors’ Maggie Shapiro.
I had inquired with several agents prior to choosing to work exclusively with Maggie. I recognized immediately that Maggie’s primary focus was my best interest. She introduced to me the fundamentals of the home-​buying process and clearly described my options and limitations. She also provided excellent advice. And, equally as important, was friendly and engaging throughout the process.
Maggie was available nearly around-​the-​clock and this proved invaluable. I had used my V.A. guaranty to secure my loan. An unexpected hiccup occurred with the appraisal which could have caused tremendous disruption to the process. Maggie, however, liaised superbly with my broker, the seller’s agent, and all other involved parties, and everything went as smoothly as one could wish given the V.A.‘s minor foot-​dragging. The issue with the V.A. could have caused tremendous anxiety, but Maggie was honest and upfront with me about every issue which minimized my concerns.
Though I’ve known her for a very short time, I’ve immediately found Maggie to be an excellent, dedicated broker and an even better person. I absolutely recommend her to any potential home buyer. Eventually, when I upgrade from my condo to a house, I’ll certainly request Maggie’s expertise and service.

To say their ethics are questionable is an understatement. Make sure you have a lawyer ready if you’re going to do business with them. More interest in money than the interest of their client and the buyer. Ick!

Stopped into an open house because my Husband and I are starting our search for a new home. WORST impression ever. Moses was the realtor present and he basically told us that we should look past seventh street — mind you without asking us a single question. Super rude and insulting. No way would I let this dude anywhere near our home search. Thanks for narrowing down the selection of realtors in the Long Beach area for us!

They used a suspended licensed company to do the termite inspection and treatment with a so-​called 5 year warranty. The termite company seems does not exist anymore and Now my house are full of termites and need fumigation. thanks for main street realtors.

Public service announcement! Mikle Norton is by far the best realtor in town. Especially if you are a first time buyer. He’s a trustworthy person and his experience and knowledge taught me so many more things about buying a home. This is my second home purchase and still learned other things from him. He doesn’t only help you with buying a home but also everything involving it (plumbing, roofing, house inspections, etc). My experience with Mikle Norton was surprising because i didn’t expect to learn as much as i did. This man cares about his clients as if they were his own family. He’s always friendly and replies to your calls and txt messages like a high school student (fast). I am so satisfied with mikle and would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking to sell or buy and needs a realtor with experience! Mikle is your guy!!!

Finding the right Realty person is always stressful since it involves what is typically the biggest investment you will make in your lifetime, your home. We found Connie Chick at Main Street Realtors, Long Beach, CA to be a true Godsend. She understood the stress we were going through in selling the home we had lived in for 30 plus years. Her knowledge and manner helped ease that stress a great deal.
Selling your home today requires more than putting up a sign and listing it in the multiple listings. Connie knew what was needed to allow our home to be received in the best possible way by potential buyers. Her suggestions helped make our home have the best «Curb Appeal» in the neighborhood. Changes she advised us to make in our front entry way allowed the WOW factor of the front yard to carry into the house.
Connie held many open houses for us. She also attended a special breakfast meeting of local realty professionals where she presented our home. Immediately after the meeting there was a special open house realty tour. This allowed our home to be seen by many more local realty people than it would have been other wise.
Her expertise with the forms and complexity of a realty transaction was terrific. She could break down the complicated terminology into everyday language we could understand and appreciate. She was always there for us when we needed her.
If anyone were to ask me for a referral to a good Realtor, I would have to tell him or her I only know of a GREAT realtor, Connie Chick!

Mikle Norton is the only person you need to talk to when you are buying a home. It is amazing how much this guy knows. He KNOWS what is is doing. Before I even thought about being able to afford a home, he had already listed all the people that I need to talk to to make me an eligible home buyer. Mike is very honest, and he is not shy about telling you the ugly nasty truth if it is for the best interest of his client. His connection with the market is unbelievable, and they are all very reputable. My impression of him is that he doesn’t want to just sell me a home and call it a day, he truly wants to FIND me a home that is in my best interest. The other realtors I have met looks like amateurs compared to Mike. Once I expressed interest in my condo, Mike got to work and everything worked out extra smooth. He looked for all the flaws he can find and explained to me what I am up for if I proceed to purchase the home. My home was initially sold as it at a firm firm firm price as the seller’s realtor stated. Mike did everything he can that worked in my favor and I got a great price deduction in the end. The more amazing thing is that he got me more money after escrow closed!!! Mikle Norton is the BEST AND HARDEST WORKING REALTOR IN TOWN. HE IS LEGITIMATELY GREAT!!! THANKS MIKE!!!

Maggie Shapiro is by far the best realtor in town. She is honest, trustworthy and there is no one I would trust more with the sale or purchase of a home. I have worked with Maggie on 3 home transactions and my husband and I couldn’t be happier! We bought our first home with Maggie and have referred several friends who have all had a wonderful experience. What makes Maggie unique is her ability to sell the property quickly and the ability to help you purchase and make the deal — Maggie is a «closer» and that is the type of realtor you want on your side!

This review is specifically for Maggie Shapiro. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to real estate and the entire process that comes with buying and seling homes. She sold my house and got me top dollar that the market allowed and I am currently working with her again on purchasing a new home.

We purchased our first home in 2012 and she was our agent. Being first time homebuyers we had no idea what to expect or what the entire process was like. It was scary. Prior to home searching, she met with us and step by step held our hands and guided us through the process. She gave us great big advices to great little advices such as «Don’t fall in love with any home that you see during the shopping process otherwise you might end up majorly disappointed if you don’t get it». While any agent can tell you everything about the home, not many can give you guidance based on what she’s seen with her past experiences with other home buyers. Unfortunately despite some of her advices, it was so difficult not, for example, to fall in love with some properties (ones we didn’t get and one we got).
She is extremely detailed and works hard. She would be driving around with us until like 9P at night to view homes that would otherwise be difficult to get in. Heck we had a 1 year old kid and she had the patience to deal with us then! She is very knowledgeable about features of the home to the minor details like what kind of countertop a home would have and does her research. She’ll pull up comps, information about the homes you’ll see prior to you visiting. This sounds like I’m sucking up or brown-​nosing, but she is really good!
On the paperwork side of things, she is very thorough in explaining the entire process. I’ve probably asked her the same question like 5 times and it would be like «what’s the hoa on this condo» and she wouldn’t complain and kindly answer. She is very flexible! She not only can do the paperwork on hard copy but she can get documents via electronically which saves a ton of time if you are trying to get an offer into a property!
She has several resources and connections, so you’ll never have to worry about not getting an answer to anything.
When we purchased our home in 2012 the market was slow and she knew that yet she was patient with us. We had been searching for almost half a year before getting into our current home. Nothing but patient!
The one thing that stood out about Maggie is when we purchased our home, it was a short sale and it was in a bidding war with several other offers. What worked in our favor was when we went to see the open house, the sellers agent that sold us this home was all over Maggie! He heaped praises to no end! He was saying how he never saw an agent like Maggie and how she was so awesome! I think if it weren’t for Maggie, we actually wouldn’t have gotten this property! (Remember this snippet for later below).
The paperwork and process was in the end easy. We closed very quickly
Now fast forward to 2013.
After we closed in 2012 we decided to sell again to move to a better school district. We asked Maggie about the market and just general info. We were NEVER PRESSURED by Maggie to do anything. She just gave us info and from there we made informed decision to sell.
We were able to get over 8 – 10 offers on our home and get our home sold for over 50k listing price! During this process, she brought her own home cleaner to help clean our house and helped us decorate/​clean the inside and outside of our house! What agent is willing to get involved like that! When deciding on a listing price on our home, she was straightforward with us and kept our expectations in check. She was very fair as a seller agent. She doesn’t want to cheat anyone and that’s one quality we really appreciate.
The whole listing and selling process probably lasted a week and a half. It was extremely fast.
We are now awaiting the sellers for a home we want to get things done on their end, but the SELLING process was so easy also. Like 2012 when we were first time home buyers, we were first time home sellers. She again made this so easy and quick!
Now we are 2^nd time homebuyers but remember previously where I said the seller agent in 2012 was all over Maggie (liked loved her as an agent and her work as an agent) and that helped us get our home. Well the home we are now waiting for, we got our offer accepted but it was Maggie who probably helped us get that home because of her work ethic and professionalism. The first thing the sellers agent said (different guy and seller from 2012) was Maggie was an awesome agent.
Now what the heck would prompt that to come out? It’s not often that you hear agents compliment other agents.
To this day we still don’t know what she does… we know she does a great job for us, but on the agent side of things, I guess we don’t see it but other agents do.

My review is specifically for Mikle Norton. We met Mike in 2004 when we needed to refinance our 1^st home in Long Beach. At that time he was a loan officer. Wealth of knowledge and very patient — our first ever home and refi experience. In 2006 we decided it was time to sell our small home as baby # 2 was on the way. Mikle was now a Real Estate Agent. We enlisted his services to sell our home and buy the house we still live in today in Huntington Beach. Throughout that entire process he was not only able to provide home buying and selling advice, he had the loan background to be able to advise on also.
But this is the most important piece of my endorsement for Mike. We bought our current home right before the bubble burst and have been stuck not able to refinance for the past 6 years. Periodically I would call Mike and ask his advice on the market and what he thought options might be, who to contact at the banks etc. He had no investment at this point in advising us, but he took the few minutes it takes to answer my many calls and just give his educated opinion.
Finally this year, with values rising again we are now in a position to refinance to the historically low rates. Mike has had no reason to assist — but still answers my call and provides his advice on anything — from loan terms, to appraisal to the termite inspection! I can guarantee that if we one day decide to sell the home we are now, I will absolutely call on Mike again. He is not a ‘salesman’. He believes in what he does and in helping you with your home purchase/​sale.

Being a first time home owner can be pretty scary. Luckily my husband Dave and I found Mikle Norton. We didn’t realize a real estate agent could work so hard for a couple who didn’t have much to begin with. He set us up with a great Loan Officer at Bank of America who sat with us for almost three (3) hours explaining everything about financially owning a home. We were being educated on the reality of having a home mortgage and what we could actually afford because our loan could be bigger than our monthly wallet.

It was a great set up because the communication between the bank, Mike, and us was prompt and painless. We saw so many properties that they started to blend together but Mike knew what we wanted and was trying to help us explore possibilities. He didn’t give us the run-​around either, he was honest, real, and most of all trustworthy. He knew the market and understood financing.
Mike saw homes with us and without us. When we couldn’t make it to see a house he would make YouTube videos of them for us to see. You have to understand that we were very active about buying a house so he didn’t waste our time and we didn’t waste his. After his morning coffee Mike is ready to get rolling on finding you a home. If he felt we needed to act fast he made suggestions, if he felt there was a good deal he let us know, if he thought we wouldn’t like a neighborhood/​area he explained it to us without negativity or discrimination. Because he knows so much about homes he lended us some helpful advice on what kind of work we would have ahead as well.
When we were going through the closing process he was with us every step of the way, everyday! He had a great home inspector that was extremely kind and detailed. Every piece of paper, signature, warning, etc. was explained to us in great detail everyday so that we could better understand what we were doing. He is knows his areas very well, each and every street! He treated us as if we were his first priority. Like I said, first time home buying can be scary, not with Mikle Norton. We feel like pros now! We are so happy in our beautiful home in Long Beach and I can’t believe how lucky we were to have found Mike. We will be calling him back when we sell it too. I hope this review helps other buyers.
