Made an appointment for urgent care. They have me option for first come first serve or an appointment the next day. Um next day yrs please!
I was asked to get there early. I was skeptical that there’s be a horrible wait. Nothing side than being sick n sitting around.
Parking was simple. It’s next to a park in case you have kids someone can watch your kids while you’re at doctors.
I arrived at just before 130 for a 145pm appointment. I filled out two simple forms. Mainly since it’s my first time. I was called within 3 mins. Everyone was nice.
I loved the dr kassabian.
I went upstairs for a chat x-​ray. And was called in without finishing talking to receptionist.
Total time 45 mins i n and out. I didn’t have time to notice décor!

I can’t imagine giving anything more than 1 star… even that is too high of a rating.
Absolutely the WORST facility for medical care. After getting injured in February I wasn’t authorized for more extensive tests until May!
Then my assigned «Dr.» refused to sign an extension because my «condition was improving».
I was finally able to switch Dr.‘s under my medical plan and he was shocked as to why I was not immediately sent to physical therapy.
Witch doctors are more capable!

This place is almost 5 stars. I made an appointment, showed up about 15 minutes early and was seen about 10 minutes after my appointment time – unheard of for any other doctor appointments I’ve had at other places (I’m use to waiting 30 – 45 minutes after my appointment time to be seen).
They gave me a choice of pharmacies to choose from and since reading the reviews here and having experience with other in-​clinic/​hospital pharmacies I chose to have my prescriptions at the CVS by my house to not have to worry about the hassle. It was super easy and the staff was very helpful in placing my prescriptions
Every staff member, from the security guard who greeted me out side to the doctors treating me showed me kindness and respect. They answered all my questions and never made me feel less of a person for not knowing something.
So why only 4 stars? Well there were water stains on the ceiling panels and the floor was quite scuffed up… but the biggest kicker was the 2 bugs that were crawling around the floor in the waiting area. I know that they were doing some sort of construction or remodeling, I’m just hoping the bugs were from somewhere else, and if this was a thrift store or a an outside venue I would have over looked it, but because this is a medical facility, they need to be held to a higher standard of cleanliness.
All in all, a great place to be. I hope the next time I go, there are no bugs and I can give this the 5 stars it should have

Been trying to get a hold of them for 2 days. Nothing but automated messages. Honestly, the worst. Left my phone number so that I would get a phone call back… nothing. Don’t even want to go here if their customer service is this horrendous.

Worse medical facility I have ever gone to while in need of Urgent Care, it’s 6 days later (Saturday) and Still have not been resolved. First off, I live in Whittier, which is a good 40 minute drive (if there’s no rush hour traffic) away from this place, and only reason why I had to drive out this far to this place is due to it being the closest «Urgent Care» facility within my health plan’s (medi-​cal) medical group, as the facilities closer to home do not have «urgent care» facilities.
I believe I contracted a UTI, so in need of and seeing that the facility’s Urgent Care clinic welcomes walk-​ins up to 7:30pm, I decide to go there a bit afterwork on Monday and arrive there about 3 to 4pm, only to get told that they aren’t taking anymore walk-​ins and told to return in the morning… So this forced me to take a day off from work so I could go there early in the morning on Tuesday, I arrive there at 8am, only to have to wait around for well over 1 ½ hours to see a person, to schedule an appointment! It turns out they don’t truly accept/​see walk-​ins, you walk-​in for the chance to schedule an appointment rather than to see a doctor as I had hoped. So of course the appointment isn’t same day… it’s for the following day @ 3pm (after work) on Wednesday.
I arrive early for my appointment at ~2:40pm, check in and end up sitting around in the lobby until about 3:30p until they call me in… end up sitting around in one of the exam rooms for over 20 minutes before finally the nurse takes my weight, blood pressure, asks questions, etc, then escorts me to another exam room in the back, where I am literally left alone and wait about 30 minutes until finally the doctor sees me (i literally began to worry that they forgot about me). And finally once the Doctor is able to talk to me, he unfortunately informs me, that they need to order some lab tests, but the lab had closed at 4pm (it’s well beyond 4pm by this point)!!!
So of course they have to schedule me another appointment and lab tests for the following day @9am, meaning I would need to take yet another day off of work, and schedule a follow-​up/​test results appointment the following week as well… So I thought screw this, and skipped out on the appointment the next day as I just cannot afford to miss two or more days worth of work…
So in otherwords, If you are in need of Urgent Care, stay away from this place. it’s a joke. It’s the worse Medical Facility I have ever been to, as all the other Medical Facilities I have been to (through Blue Cross, through Kaiser, etc) accept walk-​ins up until closing and will actually see you the same day (usually within the hour of checking-​in). however this is definitely not the case here as you can see from my experience above.
All I can recommend is, if you have an Urgent Care need and this facility is your only viable option, unfortunately you’re better off scheduling an appointment in the comfort of your home as this facility does not really accept walk-​ins as you can see from my experience above. and if you cannot schedule your appointment early (especially if you believe if you’ll require lab tests), you’re probably better off going to an emergency room to get same day service, especially if you have coverage that makes an emergency care visit cost the same (or free) as urgent care. Also even with an appointment, expect to wait well beyond your appointment time before being seen and expect to wait around even more while «being seen».

This is a great place to get care. Yes it may take time, yes you if it is your first time have to get up early and get in line by 5:00am to make sure you get in. Yes, since it is a county facility the staff must ask you many questions and fill out all the paper work and that takes time more time than you may think it should yet it must be done. Once you do get in the doctors, nurses, pharmacy, and all the staff are all really good and will treat you well making sure you get the care you need.

This place is often a nightmare. Whether you have an appointment or you actually make it there at 630am (an hour and half before it opens) and attempt to get a «walk in» spot, you will be waiting an unknown amount of hours. I once waited 2 and a half hours before I was seen and that was with an appointment. I can’t imagine how bad it is if you are just a walk in. I can’t be mad at the staff because even though they work in a horrible environment, it seems they do there best. Looks very stressful for them. The people who run this place and instill the procedures that are supposed to allow this healthcare facility to operate smoothly are failing. Perhaps they are thieves who simply who don’t give a rats arse.

Thank you to ALL the hard working staff under this roof and custodial staff. Thank you for understanding patients health problems. You are sincerely appreciated. Many blessing to everyone.

Don’t go to this place. Honestly don’t. Worst exp i had at a clinic. From doctors to receptionist to nurses. Also expect to pay. A lot of money. Also a waste of time. Expect to wait all day. Even for your money worth. U ll wait. This place is a rip off.

Long wait times, not enough seats for people. To top things off its hard to listen for your number and it stinks in there like soiled diapers. I hope I dont have to come back here again

For cheap healthcare, this is a good place to go. Sure there’s a long wait for the walk-​in appointments, and it’s good to arrive an hour early or so but it used to be a lot worst. I first went to LBCHCC back in 2009, and the wait in line to get a number was a lot worse and the line was a lot longer. The wait to actually get a doctor visit once you got your waiting number was also a lot worse and I felt rushed by the doctor. That was in 2009 though, nowadays (late 2012 early 2013) it’s much better.
For the $ 60 you pay (if you’re not insured) you can get a pretty informative visit with the doctor assigned to you, and any prescriptions you get can be quite cheap. The only bad thing I can say is that one of the doctors I saw said that I could an ultrasound done for the $ 60 up front price that I paid for the doctor’s visit, but that turned out not to be true. When I went to Harbor-​UCLA for that Ultrasound, it turned out that there was an additional fee of $ 80 for that service. That said, the normal price for that service was $ 450, so a discount of about $ 370 (because I was self-​pay /​uninsured) is not bad.
My best experience here is with the diabetes education class, which is every tuesday at 2:30, with a total of 4 classes before you «graduate» and get a free meter + test strips. The education is very good and includes information anyone who is diabetic or interested in learning about diabetes (to take care of their relatives or whatnot) really needs to know. There’s a pre-​test to test your knowledge, and in order to «graduate» you take a graded post-​test to see if what you learned stuck.
I graduated with 1 question wrong (out of about 20 I believe) and got a free Onetouch slim with 60 free test strips and 200 testing lancets, which is very easily an over $ 100 value without insurance. Probably closer to $ 60 or so with insurance, depending on what kind.
All in all I’d say it’s a good place to get cheap healthcare, maybe not the best, but not unreasonable or horror-​story worthy like some free or cheap clinics or health centers.

I have LA Care insurance through my employer and I never really need to go to the doctor unless I REALLY have to. Well, 2 weeks ago I really had to go to the doctor because I had pain that didn’t want to go away & I thought I had some terminal disease or something. Because of this rare development, I decided to give my insurance a go. According to my insurance the LB Comprehensive Center was my primary service provider for health needs. Ok cool, I thought. I gave them a call to set up an appointment only to find out they do not open on weekends. WTF this place is giving me bad vibes already. I gave them another call early Monday to see if I could FINALLY make an appointment only to be put on hold for an hour. After the long wait I was finally welcomed by a rude receptionist. I don’t know what her problem was, she wouldn’t even let me talk. I was already cranky so I decided that I wasn’t going to deal with her sh-​t and treated her as badly as she treating me. Oddly enough, when she saw how aggressive I was getting, she changed her tune and her voice tone and all of a sudden was «nice» to me. When I tried to set up an appointment though, she said that my primary doctor was booked until FEBRUARY 2013. WTF. I thought she was joking at first. But if I wanted to see a doctor before that I would have to come early to the walk-​in clinic. Seeing as I had no choice I did just that. Next day I went super early but there was already A LOT of people. But… I have insurance… why do I have to be treated as though I have no insurance? I guess having sh-​t insurance is like having no insurance. Anyways, I was so frustrated I left that place and went home to look for a low cost clinic. Luckily I found one that was very affordable, had little wait time, and had great doctors and nurses that made me feel at ease.
If you have no insurance AND no money this is the place to go to sadly until something better and more organized comes up. But if you do have the cash, I recommend you search for a low cost clinic like I did. At LBCHCC they make it even hard for you to set up an appointment and the walk in clinic is a huge pain in the butt especially if you have work or other things you need to do for the day.

(EDIT ¾/​2013: To those wondering about which low cost clinic I ending up going to, it was Los Reyes Clinica Medical in South Gate. I highly recommend it.)

This resource is a real help to those without health insurance. The only thing is, yes, you do have to get up early to get in as a walk-​in or to set an appointment for another time. To be in line by 6AM is cutting it a little thin because there will be others there already.
The clinic has every thing you need for general and some specialized health care. Dental, women’s health, children’s clinic, optometry and adult health. Just be patient and you will get what you need.
There is an option to pay based on income etc. You just have to research and compare.

If you don’t have the luxury of Medical, Vision, or Dental insurance, then this is the place to go for your medical care if you are in the Long Beach area. There are various ability to pay programs available, many services are free if you income qualify.
This Health Center provides an array of services and various clinics. They have specialty clinics such as the adult clinic, dermatology, dental, flu shots, pediatrics, phlebotomy, a walk-​in same day clinic, womens health (including ob/​gyn and mammograms) xrays, and more. There is also an on site pharmacy with a wait time comparable to other pharmacies. Not a long wait unless it is extremely crowded.
Long Beach Comprehensive Health Care center is also convenient, as most services one would need are all in the same building.
True — if you use the walk in clinic, you may be there quite awhile before you see a Dr. The earlier you arrive, the sooner you will be seen.
For free /​very low cost care, that is the price. Waiting. I think more could be done in the way of organizing wait times.
***Because this is a County facility where literally hundreds of patients are seen each day, you MUST advocate for what you need concerning your health care.***
I hate to admit it, but it isn’t the best care either. The Dr.‘s are all the same, they are passive and their «bedside manner» leaves much to be desired from my experience. They do not warn you if your lab tests show something that could be brewing. It’s cut and dry with these physicians — either you have something or you don’t. Other Dr.‘s will confer with and advise you on your lab tests, but not here.
I for one, will be so happy when there is affordable health insurance available to all — per the recent law approved.
I don’t really like coming here but for now, it’s all I have. It beats paying thousands of dollars elsewhere for office visits, lab work and preventive care.
If you choose to go to another clinic that offers free or low cost care in this area, be informed. For prescriptions and specialty care, you may be referred here anyway.

Going here is such a pain. If you need to go to the walk-​in clinic, you have to be there reallllyyyyy early. Like an hour or two before the place opens, so that they can give you a same day appointment — which means that you have to wait around for your appointment.
If you arrive to the walk-​in late, say maybe 11am or 12pm, they’ll most likely be full for the day, but you might be lucky to be put on the waiting list. Which basically means, that after they close at 6pm, and if they’re done with all their appointments, they’ll call people from the wait list. And! if you’re lucky, people might just give up and go home rather than wait around, because they only call a certain number of people on the wait list.
So, for the walk-​in, get there super early.
The pharmacy. Its gets REALLY full, REALLY fast. you can easily wait an hour or more for your prescription. But I have experienced that if you go later, around the time they close, it takes around 15−30min.
If you’re going in for a women’s health exam. The mammos are performed on the 2^nd floor, at the dental/​vision clinic. Yes. The mammos are done in the dental/​vision center. Its not really noted anywhere, so people are just confused. And the system they use is to randomly come out the door and call out «MAMMOS?»
As for the dental clinic, you have to go to the walk-​in clinic, tell them that you want to see a dentist, they have to go through some insurance stuff to see if you qualify, and then you have to up to the 2^nd floor and make an appointment for a different day. Oh, and you can only do this on Mondays, from 8am to 11am.
I don’t like going here, but I have no other choice at the moment. «free» health benefits come with a price.
