The salmon croissant sandwich is certainly one of — if not THE BEST sandwich I’ve had in my life. Fresh wild salmon, flavorful pesto, & crisp sprouts all on a buttery croissant — sandwich perfection.
Such friendly service here, too. True neighborhood gem in a wasteland of corporate joints.

Kress Market is one of my favorite places in Long Beach. It is the epitome of your local Mom and Pop shop, with an organic twist.
Kress is one part market and one part deli. The market has a great selection of organic, vegan and gluten free products. Much to my delight there is a very good selection of craft beer. There is also a great selection for the vino aficionado.
Now onto my favorite part… hello deli. I’m not gonna lie, why would I cook when I could come here and get a delicious turkey burger? Usually it’s on the specials menu and not the standard but I just can’t pass it up. The Kress salad is a summertime favorite with spinach, strawberries, roasted red peppers and goat cheese. Sitting on the patio with a beer, people watching on Pine makes for a lovely lunch. Oh and the funny tip jars are always a delight.
Parking is available in the garage on the corner of 5^th and Pine behind the Wells Fargo ATM. Two hours for free no validation needed.
The people that run the market and deli and so nice. It’s such a community place and I just love that! Congratulations Kress on your five years in business!

Their market is garbage. Everything is over priced and the produce is on its last week before retirement. I haven’t tried the sandwiches but never ever buy anything from the market section of this place.

The dude that works here is not chill. He be making faces and lookin all grumpy every time I go in. I think I’m done with this place until he checks his attitude towards minorities.

Had a chance to try the panini trio, chicken avocado and Hilda’s infamous salad last night. So freaken good! If your looking for a healthy and tasty bite I highly recommend stopping by.

Ordered the turkey panini, the flavor combinations of the ingredients where spot on w the home made pesto. There could have been more meat on the sandwich, but it’s organic so I understand. I’m happy to support this store as a local business and will definitely be back. The girl at the register was very friendly, it was her first day, & the lady making my sandwich was very knowledgeable and sweet. My only complaints were that the patio table and chairs were put out at 11, I think they should be set out upon opening in case people want to enjoy coffee or lunch outside. Also, the inside of the store was quite warm, hence why I wanted to sit outside. No music playing. But all and all, prices were reasonable, and I enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff, and the food!

If you’re looking for a lighter, healthier choice come here. I love that 1. it’s a little market so you can come in and buy that one ingredient you need for cooking and 2. small restaurant. Come in and have lunch inside or out front in the tables. Grab a snack, meal, drink or all 3. It’s not crowded, it’s clean, it’s family owned by husband and wife, business going on 5 years, and of course it’s great tasting!
I recommended the turkey and hummus wrap on a spinach tortilla. It’s a great choice because it has protein and veggies and its toasted which makes it even better! Includes avocado and lettuce. It’s not pre-​made so it didn’t get pulled out of a fridge. It’s filling, but doesn’t weigh you down and comes with a small side salad. I will come back.

Check out the Grass Fed Beef and Hamburger. I kid you not. This is the best tasting blend. Make 3 5 oz patties in a pan flip once add a slice of cheese till its done. So good!

My favorite mom & pop deli and market. Food ia prepared fast and fresh and the market carries a quant selection of products/​foods not easily found in the area. Support small business and get the in return!

Hilda prepares the freshest salads, soups and sandwiches in the area and she does it with a kind smile. I love coming here for lunch, the food is deliciously prepared!

This place is awesome. It’s a market — so it’s quaint and the items that they sell have been carefully selected. For instance, they sell Fever Tree tonic instead of the usual big store brands. Fever Tree is really the only way to go as far as tonic goes. Their products are top quality. And there is free two-​hour parking just across the street. They also serve up some lovely items in their deli/​restaurant. Sometimes I just don’t want to face the big grocery store experience — I want to just pop into a shop and get a few, select high-​quality items. Kress Market is the perfect place for that.

I live two minutes away from this place and absolutely love coming to this market. It’s a small,/mini market, but they have healthy snacks, nuts, sauces, oils, drinks, and even alcohol! Small selection of produce, deli meats, small health bars and dessert treats. I love love love this market.
It gets better, there’s a deli attached to it. I had the turkey wheat roll with pesto. It was delicious and fresh! If you add bacon or anything like that to your sandwich it’s literally cooked right there on a skillet. All the entrees come with a delicious Asian dressing (I believe) salad. They have veggies fruit smoothies, salads, signature sandwiches and small dishes. It’s perfect.

We come here to support local business and eat delicious sandwiches. A neighborhood market/​deli with fresh fare and friendly faces. Try the Italian.

This is the second time here. The food is outstandingly good.
I got the veggie on whole grain ciabatta — fresh basil marinated mushrooms feta and tomatoes — possibly the best lunch meal I’ve ever had.

Came in here once before and was put off by the musty smell and warm air. The lady who worked here told me they had better coffee than Starbucks so I decided to try again this week. First, they left me at my table and had forgotten that I had ordered a cappuccino. Second, it was burned and tasted horrible. Their sandwiches were also not great considering the price. SKIP and go to Berlin Bistro.

Kress is good more or kress. I have dined and shopped here at least a dozen times over a few years, even before my fascination with Unilocal.
Kress just falls short: service some days; produce selection another; and no continuity in panini or custom sandwiches quality, due their cold cuts.
The Panini Trio, a favorite for $ 7.99 — roasted peppers, prosciutto, turkey, ham, mozzarella, and a basil-​pesto brushed onto sourdough. The meats are now fatty — crudo Italiano — difficult to bite due the quality of the prosciutto and the slickness of the ham.
It was «Krass Café.» The organic market with a selection of small vineyard selections is the savior. The market not so much for the savor. The showcase limited with daily offerings.
I support this proprietor as I want them to succeed. Service with a smile is not evident and some things are better left unsaid, and certainly unwritten.
Try it. Or better yet, shop the few aisles and try it at home to give oneself the enjoyment of wine & some cheese.

The people who work here are friendly, especially to kids which is wonderful! Smoothies were good, also tried the Kress sandwich and a turkey bacon, and the chicken Caesar wrap. I have to say that their meat is of high quality although I wish they would use a little bit more. On the plus side I guess it means that their portion sizes are more accurate LOL! The beer is cold and tasty. The only site downside is that they do take a little while to bring the food out but you can tell that they put effort behind it so it’s worth it. Also when I looked at the market I noticed that some of the produce seem slightly less than fresh but considering it’s organic it probably decomposes at a faster rate. Good for convenience and a cold brew or yummy sammy

Everyone was so nice and we enjoyed a mellow night on the patio with our dogs. A good IPA on tap, decent wine, salads, panini… Espresso to finish it off. Simple and good.

The grocery store is the size of a convenience store, but if I put all of the food in my kitchen it would be exactly what I needed and nothing more. This little supermarket has hard to find foods and foods I haven’t seen in years. At the Fit Expo I was told Whole Foods would carry the alternative beans pastas which are sooo good and so healthy, but WFs didn’t have it nor the other health food stores (Sprouts, Lazy Acres, Trader Joes, etc). She has the best of all products in the store. Energy bars that don’t have too much sugar, Bob’s Red Mill gluten free products, my favorite spirulina snack bars, Ezekial 4:9 products, dairy free cheese, those addictive Kettle chips, and non GMO apple chips which are soooo good and I used to get them years ago but haven’t seen them in any grocery stores on the West Coast.
I’m a clean eater, which means gluten free, vegetarian, no hormones, no additives, chemicals, poisons, pesticides, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup in my diet which is often found in stores such as Whole Foods. It is really difficult to find GMO stuff in the United States. None of the foods value in this store is compromised. This is the real whole foods store!

I stopped into Kress-​Market for a quick sandwich and was very impressed with the place. I ordered a Kress Sandwich, which is basically grilled chicken, sprouts, beet root, and other forms of deliciousness you don’t normally see on a typical deli sandwich. The food takes a little while to prepare here, because they were cooking my chicken to order. I was in a bit of a hurry, but I didn’t mind because at least I knew what I was getting was fresh. So happy to see that instead of just tossing a few pieces of precooked chicken from God knows when. While I was waiting for my sandwich I spied a baked plantain in the deli case. It looked too good to ignore, so I had them heat one up and add it to my order.
The results, pretty good. The sandwich was flavorful and fresh. The chicken was cooked perfectly and seasoned nice. The sandwich was very nicely prepared and tasted great. For $ 7.99 you can’t go wrong. The plantain, hurt me. It hurt me so good. It tasted almost like a warm banana bread pudding. It was gooey and sweet and I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing in one sitting, they’re pretty big.
It’s worth noting that there is a small market attached to the deli. I was excited to browse their selections, but was let down that they were mostly the same items you could find at Fresh & Easy across the street. I’d love to see some specialty items here, and not just a small selection of higher-​end standard fare. Some premium cheeses, a nice wine selection, specialty meats, or olive oil. Something that would make me want to shop here for those special occasions. I can’t see myself coming to the market as is, though. Good thing the deli side is the star of the show.
This is definitely a place I’ll return to, and one I’ll bring friends.
