Karma Dog Training

Getting my two puppies aged 3 and 4 months to class every week is no easy task. From speaking to Jeff before I signed up, I knew it was the right place for us. I love their philosophy of positive, calm training. I attend Puss and Pooch in Long Beach every Saturday and cant wait to go each week. The facility is clean, staff friendly and helpful. Gabby is great with all the dogs and the parents. Charles is awesome and is always willing to help me with my boys. He has even gone the extra mile by attending to one of mine if Im not able to bring someone along to assist me. They both are calm, knowledgeable and truly seem to love and care for our dogs. I love that it is laid back and not stuffy and high pressured. I see a long, happy relationship with Karma Dogs and I feel confident they’ll train me as well. :):)

I had my first puppy training with my frenchie pup on Sunday and it was great. Virginia is very nice and attentative, gives great training advice and answers any and all questions.
He is enrolled in the puppy Kindergarden classes. This class is designed to teach him basic commands and early socialization with other dogs. I noticed after his first class that he was more mello and calm around other dogs. He sniffed and introduced himself appropriately. I enjoyed the outcome and got good feedback from my friends and family, regarding how well behaved my frenchie pup was in comparison to previous visits. I am definitely looking forward to completing the course and seeing the end outcome!

We were looking for a trainer/​boarder that would help us with our recently rescued and extremely exuberant four-​year old Boxer mix. Because our dog had been in shelters for an extended period of time, it was especially important that we trained using firm but positive reinforcement and not aggressive, intimidating, or pinch collars methods. In Vi we found a gentle, compassionate, warm, and thoughtful trainer.
Vi saw great potential in our dog when we weren’t so sure ourselves. After meeting with her, we felt less overwhelmed by the task of training. And we adopted Vi’s view of our dog and things began to change. Our dog was calmer, more wiling to please, and less destructive. Per Vi’s suggestions, we channeled our dog’s energy into agility work and set up our backyard gym (of chairs and broom sticks) so our dog could jump and crawl.
After the seven day train/​board, we found our dog to be even more mellow; maybe even a little sad because she missed Vi so much! Our dog could now understand several commands and she no longer jumped on us when she saw us. Vi provided extensive and detailed notes on our dog’s stay, commands, diet, and activity.
Afterward, Vi came to our home to show us how to put that training to effect in our own home. Our dog’s reunion with Vi was incredibly sweet. She gave Vi a hug and couldn’t stop giving kisses :). Vi spent more than an hour answering our questions about next steps.
We look forward to a long lasting relationship with Vi. She really has been amazing and our dog is now an important part of our family. We actually can’t imagine our home without her.

My frenchie puppy has been going to puppy kindergarten since she was 9 weeks old at the Puss and Pooch store in Downtown Long Beach every Sunday. Puppy kindergarten is specifically for young puppies that can start taking the class from the young age of 8 weeks old to 16 weeks. It is a pre-​obedience class and is designed to help develop young pups’ early socialization skills and basic commands.
Since most puppies in this class generally aren’t fully vaccinated, the Karma Dog Training team take a great deal of care to always sterilize the training room in order to create a safe and clean environment for our precious babies. My pup has a blast and it’s unbelievable how much she’s learned. We have met some incredible pups and their parents through this class and have become fast friends outside of the classroom environment (our pups love each other!).
I’m so so glad I didn’t take the discount route and go to big box pet stores for training, knowing that their only objective is pushing sales. This class run by Karma Dog Training and their trainers are topnotch! I am so incredibly happy with our lessons and am also very grateful for the love and care that our trainer Virginia and her assistant Gabbie have given my little Margo Bean. These amazing ladies really do go out of their way to get to know each parent and each pup individually and and if needed will help you also tailor lessons and offer tips/​advices that you can take home and practice.
The key thing to remember for any training class, is you must must must continue the training by doing the work in the home environment! These classes are meant to not only train the pup’s but to also train you as parents to be better pack leaders with the use of positive reinforcements.
I can attest that my pup’s super social disposition is a result of kinder class and it’s great trainers. And for myself, I can read and understand my pup’s behavior and signals better. We will be definitely taking the next obedience class next month along with 2 other frenchie pups that Margo has bonded with and cannot wait to see Virginia and Gabbie again!
So for any parents out there with new pups, I would very highly recommend this kindergarten class with Karma Dog Training! Remember, first class is always free for you to try out! Classes are drop-​in style so start whenever you can and if you miss any classes you have 6 months to make up for any missed classes!

I am happy to recommend Karma Dog training. We worked with Karma dog training for the past ten months. My family and our two (yes, two) puppies worked together with Angela in both the classroom and in Karma’s private lessons. When we found Karma dog training and met with Angela we knew we had made the right choice. Our 8 month old rescue, Bella, part Chihuahua part Pappillon and she had already had a very rough start to life. She came to us with no training, a huge attitude, and horrible temper tantrums. Angela’s positive reinforcement training has proven to work miracles. Our now, 10 month old Bella, has made huge improvements in the 7 weeks spent in the park with Angela, Vee, and Melissa. We also have learned the correct way to continue the training at home to further her path of obedience.
