Carnitas Tacos are great! I was not expecting tender, moist, juicy, rich pork carnitas with plenty of well-browned crisp edges. Everything is fresh and home made; the salsas are amazing. Chips and Guacamole are the best.

A bit of a let down. I checked the reviews for a good burrito place in LB and Super Mex sounded good, when I dropped by and wanted to order take away I was told to go to their take away place 2 doors down — Jr. Mex. Unortunately I didn’t check the reviews for this place. I tried the carne asada burrito but at first only found rice and beans… when I could finally taste meet it was definitely not the quality I was looking for. I hope they’ll do better in the future, but doubt I’ll ever be back. There’s so many other places to get great burritos that there’s no reason to settle for less.

Good food, decent prices. Really nice to come here and grab food without having to go into the main restaurant. Ive been coming here for years and years.

We will definitely be back. Looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant in the area and gave jr mex a try. It’s the same as super mex next door but jr mex is their take out location. We ordered a carne asada taco combination plate and a carne asada burrito. The tacos were very good sized, the meat was flavorful and came with guacamole which was an added bonus! The only thing we weren’t too excited about was the corn tortillas were dry. I know a lot of street tacos will be dipped in oil to give them some flavor and soften them up, this was not the case so I would ask for this next time. The rice and beans were on point as was the salsa! Good stuff! The carne asada burrito was average sized but what I was a little disappointed about was it had a lot of Refried beans in it, seemed to be maybe a filler. But again meat was good and it had good flavor. Loved the chips also which were basically actually corn tortillas fried to tostada crisp and fresh, you just break pieces off and dip into the salsa. I really liked them, tasted great as did the salsa. Overall I would definitely come back again! Wasn’t the best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been too but it definitely had good taste, quality and and value!

I dislike when I order carne asada and I get shredded beef. It’s like when the piñata opens and the you get Hershey’s and m&ms and you ordered Lucas and tamarindo. It is what it is but it ain’t what I ordered. If I wanted shredded beef I’d take my ass to chipotle. Go to Los compadres or another spot on Anaheim where there’s no mistake for carne asada.

Last night I went to order some enchiladas for my husband. I ordered the two item combo and paid for it. As I continued to look at the menu I saw that they had a three item for a dollar more. I asked to upgrade my order to the three item. She said that it was almost done. I said no problem, just put the third on on top of the other two. She said that she would have to charge me for one enchilada. I asked how much that would be? She said it would cost about $ 2.50. Why would I want to pay more than twice the price? I asked her if she could remedy this situation. She said that would mean she would have to call a manager and then have him void it and then ring it again. But she never offered to get one. I guess that was too much trouble and she didn’t want to go out of her way. She just stood there and handed me my order. I guess I will have to take my business elsewhere, since they don’t believe in customer service. Time to do some training managers.

Have eaten many times at the SuperMex downtown and it was delicious. Went out for a couple beers with a friend after work on a Friday evening and decided to take some food home for me and DH to avoid the cooking. I had the carnitas burrito and I ordered the carne asada burrito for him. It wasnt hot and it didnt taste very FRESH either. Chef Mike is def doing all the work at this place! It was ready WAY too fast for it to have been prepared fresh. A lot of the pork in my burrito was in chunks — which is fine if it isnt all from the dried up outside — but thats mostly what I got! The meat tasted old and as if it had been soaking in a vat of its own rendered fat for a week. It was either tough and stringy or I was gagging on giant blobs of fat. I suspect the sit-down SuperMex next door is handing off their substandard bits to their take away little brother… BAD idea, SuperMex owners! Hubby said his didnt taste fresh either. A drippy, browning, thin plop of avocado was sliding down the side of both of our burritos. Totally unappetizing. SuperMex & their takeout baby brother have lost us as customers. There are just too many other quality Mexican restaurants in Long Beach to waste our $$ on this microwaved substandard DRECK.

horrible customer service. I called to make a simple order but was put on hold for at least 10 minutes and they forgot they put me on hold. When I finally told him my order it was to two taquitos. when I finally get there the cashier said«I’ll be rght with you» and proceeded to pack 4 orders instead of just ringing me up and doing it when I was gone. then she told me I have your two tacos. And I said no it’s taquitos and she said okay let me fix it it will take 15 min and then I said forget it give me the tacos… I was so fed up! no apology or compensation for this nightmare attempt to just get some taquitos

We had take out yesterday for lunch. We ordered a burrito and chicken flautas. (That’s our usual order when we crave Jr. Mex.) Anyway, they always get our order right and give us extra chips and salsa when we ask. We place our order ahead of time by calling, and it’s always ready when we get there. The service is always good. I’m giving it four stars, because it’s not my favorite Mexican food place… but it’s the closest one to where I live. There’s better choices, but they’re quite a bit further away for take out.

I thought it was odd that Super Mex would need a separate take out store front and kitchen but it’s not too bad. It definitely cuts down on the wait.

Best in long beach. Really, this is one of the best Mexican restaurants around. And for take-out, nothing else comes close.

Went in for lunch today. Got the chile verde burrito. I dont know where they concocted this dish, but there was no verde sauce. Chunk of fatty pork a few large, very large cooked tomatos and few small green chilis. It was terrible. The«sauce» if you can call it that, was so wet the flour tortilla got soggy. Ever experience a wet soggy flour tortilla? Needless to say, never again.

I felt compelled to review this place because they messed up my order. And I am pretty sure I was clear on what I ordered. Plus, there were like 5 people at the register(and closing out).; come on guys do that in the back. When the food came I figured it was all correct and a drove home only to find that they messed up my order. Ordered: — combo fajitas(steak/chicken) with flour tortillas — carne asada taco with flour tortilla — chicken taco with flour tortilla Received(realizing only after I got home) — fajitas correct — carne taco with CORN — chicken with hard CORN shell I will admit I liked the fajita and the salsa(like everyone else) but this kind of mistake can’t happen especially since this place is fairly pricey. Chances are I will try this place again but I will be sure to check my order. Maybe then I can update my review. If it is your first time make sure you repeat your order so they get it right and check your order thoroughly before you leave. Good eats!

I’ve ordered from here several times for lunch and service has always been quick and friendly. I’ve been satisfied with the items i’ve ordered so far. Whole wheat chicken burrito — a nice a hearty wet burrito which isn’t as massive as the regular burritos. Chicken was nice and tender and included a scoop of guacamole. Carnitas combo w/flour tortilla — carnitas were tender and flavorful. The rice and beans are average. Rice in particular is kinda bland. The Flautas are really good. I usually get the chicken. The fried flour tortilla is nice and crispy. You get two large flautas with rice and beans. The salsa has good flavor with just the right amount of kick. This place is located two doors down from it’s big brother, Super Mex. *Note: Groupon coupons for Super Mex are not accepted at Jr Mex. Those are for dine-in only. :) 3.5stars!

I walked in after work and asked the cashier for recommendations. I wasn’t actually listening though, I won’t lie. I have that problem sometimes. She said something about shredded beef and a taco shell and I said«Sure, why not?!» It turns out what I actually got was a taco salad. Ok. I don’t consider a taco salad Mexican food. I would never go to a Mexican restaraunt and order a taco salad. I think I would be tarred and feathered. Anyway, the beef tasted off, the taco shell smell funny and really, there was nothing great about it. So why, I ask, would you recommend this to me? Do you hate me? Maybe there are other items on the menu that are actually decent. Maybe.
