For a hood spot this is actually pretty good the fish and chips. If you take one look at the menu you can see these people fry just about anything. I am in love with the fried pineapple this is a must try. From taste the fish isn’t the best quality but the portions are insanely huge. In all this is a good Asian fried fish spot.

Came here on a windy, Friday night. The parking lot was packed and was difficult to maneuver in. It’s located in a tiny corner plaza that has a chinese restaurant, a salon, and a 7 – 11. The place is super tiny, and was blasting some nice AC when I walked in. They are cash only, which sucks, because I didn’t see any signs around so I had to go out and get cash. I ordered the deluxe and the regular, and a side of 5 pc zucchini. Everything was fried well, minus the zucchini. That ish was soggy. At the end, after eating so many different types of fishmeat and etc, everything started to taste the same. My BF really really liked the scallops though.

Can’t get enough of this place, especially when Easter comes around and we can’t eat meat on Good Friday, this place never fails me. The size of the fish are really big and meaty. There fries are good and crispy as well. This place gives you the most bang for your buck when it comes to prices. If you are looking for your fish and chips fix, you’ve come to the right place.

One of my few favorite food joints in Long Beach. Same family running the place when I use to live in the area. The lady hasn’t aged a bit. The portions are more than fulfilling for such a reasonable price. I’ll try the fried pineapples next time around. Unfortunately, they don’t take credit cards. Cash only. I don’t blame them.

Wow, the best fish and chips I have ever had! The shrimp was perfect too! You can’t go wrong with this eatery, the owners are super nice and it’s clean. I plan to come back often.

The fish tastes like, well, like frozen some-kind-of-white fish. The batter tastes like fried air. The tartar sauce tastes like mayonnaise with a few capers in it. But it comes out fiercely hot, so hot I still was burning myself on spurting fish juice 15 minutes later, and crispy, so crispy it wasn’t soggy even 15 minutes later when I was burning myself on the fish juice, and the pieces are good-sized and it’s cheap and served by friendly faces. So, two stars. I think good fish and chips relies heavily on the freshness of its fish and the spices in its batter(and the quality of its tartar — or malt vinegar, if you’re a purist) because of the simplicity of the dish. When you don’t have any of that, you don’t have much. Except the fact that it’s deep fried and people love deep fried anything.

Pretty good fish and chips brought to you by a local Ma & Pa shop. The surrounding area doesn’t look so safe though. We came here for an afternoon snack and was pleased to find how cheap this place was. 3 strips of fish and chips for ~$ 7 including tax? I kid you not. Each piece of fish is quite large, deep fried, and seasoned well, too. The only thing that irks me is that they charge for water and ice, separately. Who does that? Still a nice find, though.

I recently ate here with my boyfriend when I was craving seafood. Honestly I was overwhelmed with oil by the end of this meal but what can I expect when I go to an ALLDEEPFRIEDITEMS place.(Grilled is not an option here) We ordered: 4 fried fish fillets + chips(french fries) 2 fried jumbo shrimps 10 fried mushrooms After receiving our order, we asked for lemon. They said not available! What kind of seafood place, esp known for fish and chips, run out of lemon? weird… The fish fillet was good the first time around and so was the jumbo shrimp. I left the 2nd fish fillet last and by that time, I was just eating the fish and taking out the batter. Honestly I could have been content with just ONE fish fillet since its a decent sized portion and I got other things to try/eat too. Next time if we go back, I think we would get the DELUXE so we can try the fried scallops and cut back on the fish fillet. Also PLEASE have lemon wedges for us as well. :)

My son wanted some fish so we decided to try this highly rated Unilocal spot. Wellllll!!! It’s tucked away in the corner of an unattractive small shopping center. The place itself is very outdated, but the employees were kind. I had the fish and shrimp. The fish was full and thick on the inside and the outside batter was nice and crispy. I thought it was good, but when I dipped my fish in the tartar sauce it was great. We ate inside the establishment, but I would do a to go next time.

I loved this place and will definitely be back! My dad and I decided to have a mid week lunch and I picked this place because I know he loves fish and chips. We were impressed by the good prices and big portions when we ordered! We each ordered 2 pieces of fish and I honestly couldn’t imagine eating both plus fries! But the food was delicious. There is a bit of seating at this restaurant but it’s not really meant for anything besides a quick lunch. I enjoyed it!

Second visit still my favorite dish & chips… The tater sauce DOH! CASHONLY! So came here Monday 1130am not busy. A few people there. But of course not much tables available in that small GEM of a place. I ordered the BOX1. Which comes with 10 fish, 1 pint of fries a large coke slaw and 3 tarter sauce. I wanted to try the mushroom and zucchini but was torn with the home made onion rings. I guess zucchini and mushroom will have to be for next visit. It only took 5 mins for everything which was fast cause I went next door to buy chicken and donut. Man those fish are huge and tasty. Couldn’t finish two on the ride home. And for dinner I could only eat one. Onion rings were home made. Used beer batter type of breading. Can’t wait to go back!

Best fish & chips place I’ve ever eaten at! Nothing compares, not even a seafood joint in Pismo Beach! We come here at least 3 times a month. Cash only, closed on Sunday’s. Parking lot is small so be careful when backing out.

A once a year indulgence — starting now. I knew I had to try it after seeing the pictures so when opportunity had me driving past Long Beach, I had to take that off ramp and get my fried food fix. 3 piece fish n chips — the fish were HUGE. Outside batter was fried to perfection. That was no surprise as every item on their menu is fried. Crunchy golden batter housing the firm, moist pieces of fish. A little oil dripped out as I held it but eh… Tartar sauce is little bit on the mayonaisey side and wish it had just a little more punch but given the malt vinegar, cocktail sauce, and ketchup, hey, you can mix and match your flavors to whatever suits. Clam strips were soft and easy to bite through. Not the same crunchy batter as the fish but had more delicate shell to them. Squirt on the cocktail sauce and these were also excellent! Fries…are fries. The food is also cheap! Its a great bargain when comparing to other inferior fish n chips restaurants. Yes, you’ll be craving a salad afterward, but you should have thought about that before coming here.

Cheap food, great prices, only thing is it’s cash only… I guess that’s how they can afford to keep the prices so low all these years. This place is tucked away in a small plaza that looks pretty sketchy but trust me, it’s worth trying. Parking can be difficult given that it is a tiny parking lot that all the shops share. If there is street parking I suggest parking there and walking to the establishment. I’ve had their fish and chips as well as their shrimp and fried chicken. The Fried chicken is moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Flavoring is pretty good but nothing that blows my mind. Fried fish pieces are huge! I really enjoy their fish because It isn’t too greasy and is fried to perfection with a side of tartar sauce and hot sauce for extra flavoring. Fried shrimp is pretty good too, depending on what type you get. I got the butterfly shrimp and its a pretty big piece. Flavor is there and you can do with or without the additional sauces that comes with. All The food come piping hot and I suggest you wait a few moments before even touching it or you will burn your hand or worse the roof of your mouth like I did… eh Fat girl problems lol. If and when I’m in the area and craving fish and chips ill definitely be back.

CASHONLY. I usually get the fish and chips, shrimp and chips, or fried chicken. The food here is really good and inexpensive. It’s a hole in the wall location next to a donut shop and 7 – 11. Makes a great tasty lunch, I recommend going here if you need something quick.

I’ve come here quite a few times for lunch since its so close to work and cheap. Made the first mistake everyone makes when they first come, order too much. Each piece of fish is about as long as a pint glass but half the thickness of the wide end(sorry I couldn’t think of anything else to reference). The 1 piece fish and chips is plenty. I also made the second mistake everyone makes, eating it as soon as you get it. The fish is straight out of the fryer and is piping hot which makes everything taste like nothing, even with sauce. Guaranteed to burn your mouth. Once I figured out how to do England Fish & Chips the right way, man… this place is bomb! Let the food cool down like 5 minutes(seriously all 5 minutes). The fish is sooo tasty, delicate, and juicy. And for 3 bucks you can’t beat it!

Nestled in a little cove between Rose Donuts & Chinese Fast Food and Glamour Hair & Nails, you will discover a little gem. I must have driven by England Fish & Chips a thousand times. I finally tried it and let me tell you, it’s spectacular. What I thought would be a simple meal ended up evoking many emotions and memories. England Fish & Chips is located on the corner of Pacific and Willow(there’s a 7 – 11 in the mini plaza also). It’s a family owned and operated restaurant that has been in business for over 20 years. That’s what the lady who took my order told me. I saw a guy in the back cooking, and another guy who I assume to be her husband. It’s an Asian family, but make no mistake, they know a lot about fish and chips. As I scanned the menu, I noticed the Liverpool order. I was taken back to fond memories of The Beatles. I’ve always loved their music. I cried when I saw Cirque Du Soleil’s performance of Yesterday at The Mirage in Las Vegas. It’s funny how going to England Fish & Chips awakened so many emotions. The main attraction: I ordered the clam dinner and one piece of fish. Got an orange bang as well and the total came out to just under $ 10. When I took that first bite of clam, I was instantly transported back to my childhood(much like Ego the food critic in the brilliant film, Ratatouille). There’s something extra nostalgic about eating fish and chips on a rainy day, sitting by the window. That bite took me back to when my family took a trip to Nova Scotia. I have fond memories of eating fried clams at many restaurants there. That was over 20 years ago. The fried clams were perfectly battered, juicy, and tasty. The portion was generous. The chips were good as well. The piece of fish was beautifully white, crisp, and perfectly battered. It wasn’t oily or greasy. It was juicy, moist, and tender. It was great. I will come back again and again(especially to try the scallops and shrimp)! I asked the lady and she said the fish is pollock. Who knew pollock could taste so good. I dipped my items in cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, and ketchup, just to experiment with what worked best. I’ve never been a fan of vinegar. I ended up liking all the sauces. I like their business card. It says«England Fish & Chips, We Cook with Love.» You can tell when you eat here that they do indeed cook with love. I’ve always been a firm believer that love is the essential ingredient in cooking. Part of the appeal for me is the name. When I think of England, I think of soccer. I love soccer. I can’t help but think of Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea every time I pass by England Fish & Chips. You know a place is good when you’ve been there before and you’re already planning your next visit. I can’t wait to return. I’m glad I finally came here. I’ve always loved fried clams and now I have a close spot to enjoy them. I would also like to try the fried pineapples! The fried clams I had today at England Fish & Chips brought me back to a wonderful childhood experience. I can’t help but get nostalgic about that trip every time I eat at England Fish & Chips. Fond memories and good food on a rainy day – what a delightful combination.
