In addition to traditional optometric services of fitting glasses and contact lenses the office also fits lenses for computer vision syndrome, specialty contact lenses for keratoconus and contact lenses for both distance vision and near vision for the over 40 crowd. LASIK co-​management, glaucoma management, red eye checks, dry eye management and diabetic retinal exams are also services provided by Dr. DeCarlo.

The office carries a large selection of optical frames in all price ranges. Nike, Persol, Gucci, Dior, Michael Kors, Prada are just some of the designer lines carried in the office along with a large selection of well made generic and economy frames.

The staff is knowledgable in obtaining vision benefit information and billing the benefits so your visit is as smooth and easy as possible.

History

Established in 1994.

Michael P. DeCarlo Optometrist established his practice in 1994 and has been a leader in eye care in Long Beach ever since. In 1994 LASIK was a futuristic technology that was not yet brought to market, California optometrist could not treat simple red eyes, there were no treatments for macular degeneration or keratoconus and the digital age was just starting to evolve.

Southern California is the home of many innovated eye care companies and we are lucky to live in a region that has access to such innovation. We now have the miracle of LASIK technology that is always improving, California optometrist can not only treat red eyes but glaucoma and many other eye disease as well, exciting treatments for macular degeneration and keratoconus are now available and the digital age has added another layer of eye strain which astute optometrist need to address for their patients.

Dr. DeCarlo graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1989. After being raised in Chicago and rooting for the Chicago Cubs DeCarlo moved to Southern California. Although he can never root for the Dodgers he has embraced the Southern California lifestyle and all the great southwest has to offer. DeCarlo’s Long Beach Optometric practice was opened in 1994 and has grown every year since. Appointments are available 5 days a week but the office will take no appointments for DeCarlo on any day the Chicago Cubs are playing in the World Series. So far DeCarlo has been available during his usual hours for the past 20 Octobers.
