History

Established in 2004.

In 2004 Craig opened Math Zone Learning Center on 10th Street in Long Beach. After 7 years at that location Math Zone grew wheels and began offering tutoring in the students homes or at local libraries. Now in 2012, since Math Zone doesn’t actually have a zone, the business name is being changed to Craig The Math Tutor.

I have always enjoyed math, got my teaching degree at Black Hills State University, and my first teaching job in Australia,. I now have over 30 years of classroom teaching and private tutoring. I hold a valid California Teachers Credential specializing in Math.

No… just no. Don’t do it. Look elsewhere. Craig seemed disconnected and had no personality. He did not engage with my child and in fact said a couple pretty inappropriate things to my child during the tutoring session, «You did it wrong… again.» Really? I am paying you to HELP my child. If my child is not understanding the process you should teach and encourage. What Craig did had the opposite affect. At the end of the session when he was broaching the subject of another session in the future, he told my child, «Well, you can talk to your mom after I leave and then you can tell her if I sucked.» Really not a good experience at all. I feel like I wasted my money and more importantly that I wasted my child’s time. My child does not ever want to have a tutor again… so sorry I called this tutor.

Craig tutored my daughter for sixth grade math at The Math Zone and currently tutors her in algebra at our home. Craig is patient, professional and has reasonable rates. My daughter enjoys working with Craig and has improved significantly with his help. I recommend him with confidence to anyone who is struggling with math!

Craig tutored my son at The Math Zone when my son was a freshman at Wilson High School. My son is now graduated from high school and has highly suceeded in math. He is currently studying physics and math in college. I recently asked my son if he thought the tutoring by Craig at the Math Zone was helpful and his answer was a resounding «YES!» Craig is patient and gentle and I have recommended him to others and will continue to do so. Thank you, Craig!
