Chiropractic Neurology Center is owned and operated by Dr. Shad Groves, DC, DACNB, QME and Dr. Karin Kim, DC. The doors of the center were opened on October 2, 2000. Since this time they have treated over 4000 patients with individualized care!

Business Owner

Dr. Shad Groves, Chiropractic Neurology Center. Dr. Groves has been serving the Los Angeles /​Long Beach area since October 2000. He graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College. In addition, obtained his DACNB credentials in the same month just prior to graduation. He has been an Assistant Professor in Clinical Neurology for the Carrick Institute. The Carrick Institute educates individuals in Clinical Neurology.

Dr. Kim has been practicing in the Los Angeles /​Long Beach area since October 2000. She is eligible to sit for the diplomate examination of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. Prior to opening her practice in Long Beach, California she had an established practice in San Jose, CA. Her ability to connect with her patients and treat them on an individual level is remarkable. She is a caring, dynamic and outstanding practitioner.

After being in the hospital for a week from chronic migraine and other neurological conditions I was introduced to Dr. Groves. This was my first chiropractic experience, and the beginning of a pain free life as well as relief from other neurological conditions. I am so grateful for the expertise of Dr. Groves as he is a huge part of my journey to healing and wellness. I drive an hour to see him, and the treatments are worth the time. The office is always accommodating and he has been nothing but thorough with his care for me. I would highly recommend this practice.

I was referred to C.N.C. by a friend about 5yrs ago, I had been dealing with migraines for years. I had a few adjustments and my migraines started to lessen and now I no longer have any at all. Its also such a plus that both Dr. Kim and Dr. Groves have the additional neurological background as well.
The staff are always helpful. They are awesome! and I refer them to anyone looking for excellent chiropractors.

I was referred to Chiropractic Neurology Center, and have been grateful ever since. I’ve suffered from sciatica pain off and on (mostly on) for over 20 years, and not only did Dr. Groves help dampen the pain, he’s also helped with cervicogenic pain left from being rear-​ended on the freeway a few years ago, as well as various MS-​related problems and pains.
The staff is personable, helpful, and friendly as well. He’s not just a «bone cracker,» but provides a much more inclusive treatment due to his neurological knowledge as well. One of the best referrals I’ve received in many-​a-​year.
As an aside, two of my friends had also visited Dr. Groves (or Dr. Kim, who’s his associate, as well as his wife) with the same positive experiences.

I have been receiving care from Shad Groves for several years and truly appreciated how I could walk in with extreme pain from muscle spasms and left standing up straight and tall again. When he was out of town I saw Karin Kim instead and found that she too is able to help me improve noticeably each and every visit. They both have the rare combination of knowledge of the skeletal system and the nervous system that no chiropractor I have seen in the past has had and they both explain everything they do. Of course I recommend them to everyone I know that is in pain.

Picked up a mini-​friedge on a Sunday and that night I felt a little «tweak» in my lower back as I went to bed. Woke up and I had *severe* back pain that lasted for a couple weeks — it was so bad it would wake me up when I rolled over at night, and caused me to slip my shoes on rather than tie them so avoid sitting down and bending over to tie them. Forget surfing or anything else that resembled fun or really any activity, even walking up or down stairs without pain! In my mind I was visiting Dr. Groves as a last Hail Mary before seeing a spine specialist and get fixed surgically.
After my first visit the pain was about 40% gone, second visit it was down to a mere whisper compared to the scream it had been a week before!!! Back to surfing, racing, running (and being able to tie my own shoes!!). Can’t say enough about how good the care has been, I refer anyone I know here — and I now strongly suggest to any Unilocalers to come and find the relief I did, if you are in as much pain as I was you’ll get your life back!

Amazing! 2 years of pain with pinched nerves, C5 and C6, and no relief from VA health care.
Six weeks with Dr Groves and the pain is 95% gone.
Amazing!
Dr. Kim is also excellent.
I highly recommend this office. I have never been a fan of chiropractic but I am a fan of Dr. Groves.

Ok it has been a while since I’ve been there but that attests to the fact of how much they (Dr. Kim & Dr. Groves) helped my pain issues. My first visit was unusual and comical if not for the acute pain I was in. My back was hurting/​spasming so horribly, I limped in there, stooped over, and had to literally lay on my back on the couch in lobby, to fill out the paperwork. Very embarrassing. When a very pregnant Dr. Kim appeared, bright sunny smile on her face, to call me in for my consult/visit…I thought to myself «whoa now, this woman is adorable but looks like she could have that baby any minute now!» I admit, wondering if she’d be up to the task at hand.
I need not have worried, for she was completely efficient and (surprisingly) agile, and I trotted off home with my spine upright. Thus began a great relationship with Chiropractic Neurology and the caring couple who are like no other chiropractors I’ve ever met. When friends say to me «oh, I’d never want a chiro to ‘adjust my neck’ «I say to them, these doctors here, do not do anything you don’t want them to.
They have many ways of doing adjustments and other treatments. Nothing to be afraid of, here ! I consider them as friends, or even family, not just my doctors.
I miss them dearly… but that is just a testament to how much they helped get me on the road to better health.
You know what, I wanted to say also, that they (especially Dr. Kim, who was the one I most often saw there) made me smile, laugh and always always, I left in a better mood than when I arrived. Their sense of humor, along with the intelligence and caring, well… it is beyond compare.

dr. groves was recommended to me for my sports injuries. i didnt want to waste my time with another doctor who will tell me to just quit whatever i’m doing (running, grappling, dancing, kickboxing,…F that!!!). dr. groves is super supportive of my activities and really knowledgeable about the musculoskeletal system. i know bc im a nerd! a biology nerd! and boy does he totally go over my head with his explanations sometimes: P but i love that he tries to show me exactly what he’s seeing that’s wrong with me (like i said, nerd). the best part is that every single time i walk in with pain, i walk out with little to zero pain. what kind of amazingness is that?! that’s a freakin miracle i tell ya!

I’ve been to quite a few chiropractors in my life and I would say Dr. Groves at Chiropractic Neurology Center is probably the best out there. He’s not super cheap if you’re paying out of pocket, but you get what you pay for.
Dr Groves is not just a chiropractor, but he’s also a neurologist. He knows the nervous system VERY well. Guy really is brilliant.
I was referred to him by my x-​g/​f who was in a major car accident and had serious problems as a result. She was basically cured by Dr. Kim after a few months of visits.
I came here about 6 years ago with excruciating pain. I was on the verge of having major surgery done on my herniated C5-​C6 disk resulting from a traumatic experience. Dr Groves did some x-​rays and convinced me NOT to get surgery, that he himself could get me back to good health. He said that he has seen some patients where he did recommend major surgery, but for me, there was no question: he could fix the issue.
Let’s just say I was in serious, major pain, unable to sleep, and function at work because of my pain. In two month’s time I was about 85% better. I mean, the guy knows what he is doing. And about 4 months later I was about 97% better. Incredible results.
My neck has flared up again (once you injure your back, there is a good chance you’ll need care for your life), and I’ve started going back again to Dr. Groves. He charges about $ 50 – 55 per visit, but why not invest in yourself and pain management? I really wouldn’t consider anybody else and really like having him as my chiropractor.
In summary, don’t bother going anywhere else for chiropractic care. I’ve been to two other chiropractors in the LBC and Dr. Groves is IT!

Dr. Kim is an awesome chiropractor! I love her holistic approach to treatment. She really pays attention and gets to the root of the problem –instead of treating the same symptoms week after week! Since I started seeing her, I just feel better overall.
My first visit was for neck pain, but she has also helped with muscle issues that I didn’t realize could be treated with chiropractic care.

Dr. Karin Kim and Dr. Shad Groves are amazing! I’ve been to chiropractors that were give a you a neck tweak and send you on your way-​these two are so different! They work with every inch of you; from your vision to your digestive trac (when they do the stomach work, yes, it’s slightly embarassing, but it’s GOOD FOR YOU) to the very tips of your toes-​I am totally oversimplifying this, but they believe that you can’t just, for example, treat the back for back pain-​and they’re right.
I have a condition called cubital tunnel syndrome; imagine the feeling you get when you bang your elbow (the ulnar nerve); now imagine some degree of that pain and tingling all the time. Dr. Kim helped me treat and manage the pain without medication (which made me gain a bunch of weight and caused permanant damage-​but that doctor is a review for another time). And because I was paying for this on my own, really worked with my budget.
When my ex got into a bad car accident-​he was her first stop; and she treated the back and neck pain without the use of pills. I can’t even begin to sing the praises of this place enough. They’re amazing and really, really know what they’re doing.
