Ceremonies by Carolyn

This has been a year in coming. I have waited for Carolyn to reach out to us to discuss what went wrong, but since she didn’t, I felt compelled to write this. I want to be kind, but she completely blew it for us. I got the feeling that this well-​meaning, busy, officiant didn’t practice my name, or our custom ceremony beforehand. What a bummer to hear my first name butchered over and over again. She mispronounced it so much that it’s become a running joke when we watch it back on video — even after multiple meetings with her beforehand. It was a complete shock to hear her on our wedding day. She was out of breath throughout our ceremony. I guess her nerves and busy schedule out did her. She also injected some ill placed commentary during our vows!!! This was so unacceptable, I can’t even. We believed that she was practicing, professional and was ready, but we only took her word for it — should have spent another buck to confirm.
As an aside, when we first met, we felt really connected to her. She told us that she remains friends with everyone she marries and that we would be lifelong friends. That would have been cool with us, because we felt the same, but we never heard from her again. I can only suppose that she knows she didn’t do well by us.
If you do choose her, practice many times together. She means well but her follow through is lackluster and she needs to be managed.

Carolyn was absolutely amazing! She seriously knows how to take control of things and she’s so on top of everything! I also loved how she still stepped up to take photos of us during small but significant times (when my MOH signed our marriage certificate, the toast i had with my bridesmaids before walking down the aisle, etc.). She totally rocked at our rehearsal as well! She seriously made the coordinators job so easy since she pretty much lead the whole thing and told everyone what to do, where to go, what to say. etc. But most importantly, my husband and i felt so comfortable with Carolyn. She just made us feel at ease about the ceremony (we hate being in the spotlight) and having her put some humor into our ceremony really helped as well. Thank you so much for everything, Carolyn!

Words can’t express how great it was to have Carolyn as our officiant! Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was 45 minutes late to our wedding and she reassured me that everything would be ok. Besides seeing my now beautiful wife, she was a big contributing factor to turning my frown upside down :). She was even prepared with having our personal vows printed in her book, which totally saved the day for me! I would choose Carolyn time and time again.

Just awesome — Carolyn was easy going, helpful, gave great suggestions, referred us to a great photographer, kept in touch, showed up on time, listened to what we wanted and lead a perfect ceremony for us. A number of our friends, after the ceremony, complimented how great she was. She really helped to make our experience perfect. Would 100% recommend!

Carolyn was absolutely wonderful! From our very first meeting she made the process fun, easy, & all about us. She made sure we were getting something unique to us & that the focus was on our love, not what anyone else wanted. She crafted our non-​traditional ceremony beautifully. I’m writing this as someone who works with Carolyn as a vendor.
If I were getting married in LA county, I would choose Carolyn, if I had enough $$, I would fly her WITH me to officiate my ceremony. Here are my reasons:
1) she brings laughter to a ceremony when needed;
2) she guides the bridal party very well, even assisting the photographers get the shots they may miss;
3) she speaks from the heart and it’s individual to all couples; \
4) Carolyn is the ultimate Master of Ceremonies at any altar;
5) her empathy and flexibility is important to all situations (like emotional or late bridal parties and families);
6) she knows how to use a microphone with the bride and groom. It’s important everyone hear THEM during vows, not the officiant (there are those who take over without allowing the B & G to speak into the mic, it annoys me the most).
And she’s really great to hug.

My husband and I wanted a non-​denominational officiant for our wedding since we both come from 2 different religions and thankfully we found Carolyn. After our first meeting with her we knew she was the perfect fit for our wedding. She knew exactly what we wanted and it felt like we have been friends for years. Carolyn was such a huge support for me through the whole wedding process. She did an amazing job of customizing our ceremony to fit the theme of our wedding. We wanted to include my daughter into the ceremony by having my husband give her a promise token (a necklace) of his commitment to her as well as to myself. Carolyn created a beautiful vow for him to say to her and there was not a dry eye in the house. We wanted an intimate wedding with our close friends and family so we held the wedding & ceremony in the backyard of our home and Carolyn had no problems accommodating our choice in venue. She was such a HUGE help keeping everything on track at the wedding since we did not have a wedding planner and gave us wonderful tips to help keep us in our budget. I can’t thank her enough for all of her help. I HIGHLY recommend Carolyn if you are looking for an officiant. You will not be disappointed!

This is a super late review but a review nonetheless!
My husband and I got married January 2012 and Carolyn was our officiant. If you want to have the best experience that you could possibly have while getting married, please have Carolyn be there for your special day! She will make you feel at ease and will be more than an officiant, she’ll be like family. You’ll have lots of laughter and happy tears if she is apart of your wedding!

Carolyn could not have been a more perfect wedding officiant for my husband and I. She is open-​minded as she does wedding ceremonies for non-​denominational couples, religious couples, LGBTQ couples — ALL OF THE ABOVE. She has a huge heart and is accepting and loving to all kinds of people, cultures, ethnicities, and love. She is excellent at customizing a ceremony to fit the couple she is wedding. Our ceremony was beautifully written and PERFECT for my husband and I and the love we have for each other. She is clear, well-​spoken, non-​judgmental, kind, and funny! We knew we wanted to work with Carolyn when I spoke with her over the phone for the first time and she told me she was training for a mud run. LOVE! She’s the best and will make your ceremony perfect for you and your significant other. I have already recommended her to my sister-​in-​law for her upcoming wedding! Highly recommend! We used Los Angeles Beach Weddings to set up our ceremony and Carolyn is one of the non-​denominational ministers that work with LABW. We absolutely loved her! Carolyn is very professional and makes sure you have everything you need and your vows are exactly how you would like them. She doesn’t stick to any set regimen. It’s all about the comfort of the couple. She’s always available for questions if you have them via text or phone. She also went over certain ways of holding hands when rings are put on for your photographer to get good shots. She even chats with your photographers about what she has planned so that pictures can be taken at the right moment. I can’t say anything more other than she was the best!

Carolyn was amazing! We wanted a nontraditional, nondenominational wedding, and the ceremony she planned for us was perfect. She made us feel comfortable, and was sooo helpful with everything. If you need an officiant, I would definitely recommend Carolyn!

I would highly recommend Carolyn to be your wedding officiant! She was very easy to work with, made our eloping experience very fun, intimate and personal, and took care of our marriage license so we didn’t have to worry about it! Carolyn is wonderful! She was so responsive and personable before the BIG day, that we had no worries that our ceremony was going to turn our amazing! On the BIG day, she led us with confidence and enthusiasm! An unexpected helicopter happened to fly over us during our outdoor ceremony, and Carolyn worked it in like it was meant to be all along! It made for a great memory!

You can not find a better officiant that Carolyn!!! I found Carolyn by chance on the
and decided to give her a call– she was the first and last officiant I spoke with for our wedding.
From our first phone conversation, I really felt like she understood the kind of ceremony we were looking for. When we met to plan our ceremony, she provided a lot of suggestions but she was also happy to incorporate the ideas we came with. My husband and I had different ideas about how religious the ceremony should be, and Carolyn managed to find a lovely compromise so we were both comfortable and happy. The process was very collaborative and natural.
We had a very intimate ceremony, and even though Carolyn was not someone we knew for a long time, it felt like she was someone who belonged at our wedding. Our ceremony hit just the right note, it was light hearted enough to incorporate joy, but it was also very sentimental and serious. We received so many compliments about how wonderful our ceremony was and Carolyn exceeded all our expectations.
Shortly after our wedding, my husband and planned to move across the country. When we went to submit our license, there was a smudge on it and they would not accept the copy. We frantically contacted Carolyn as she would need to resign a new license in order for us to submit the paperwork before leaving on our road trip the next day. She was incredibly accommodating with our short notice and made sure we had what we needed before leaving town. I was so relieved she was so sweet about the situation.

Carolyn was incredible in every way! She helped guide me and my now husband through the planning process (of which we were completely clueless without her). She answered all of our questions quickly, gave helpful suggestions, and made sure to get to know us so she could personalize the ceremony.
She met us for lunch for an initial walk through of the ceremony and led a rehearsal that made my husband, bridal party, and myself feel completely prepared for the day of. Most importantly, she officiated a BEAUTIFUL ceremony that completely reflected who we are and what we value. My family and friends were blown away by how touching, funny, and heartfelt our ceremony was.

Yesterday morning, my Gorgeous Goddaughter decided she wanted to get married on the beach… and she did… thanks to Ceremonies by Carolyn! Carolyn performed an «over the top», last minute ceremony, complete with Roses, a Sand Ceremony and a beautiful Heart in the Sand! The words spoken during the ceremony were personalized for our couple, the guests, parents and Couple were thrilled with Carolyn’s attention to detail, photo suggestions, warmth, charm and concern to make sure it was what the Couple wanted… even making sure they had a few minutes alone after their ceremony!
