Burbank Luther Elementary School

Let me start with how the staff is a bit rude here. They talk down to you as if you were a child. The lack of security is a joke. They just started having someone at the front from 11 – 2 and she doesn’t do sign ins or check IDs anyone can come in and just take a child. I always come in from the back because the gate is wide open. How am I to feel my kids are safe? The year round track schedule I like its good. My daughter and son have excellent teachers. But this school does have a lot to improve. Only reason I have my kids here is because it’s closer than any other school.
Another thing. They don’t have a ramp for handy cap people like my father who comes and picks up my children when I’m not able to do so. And as for me having to carry a huge double stroller inside is just a big hassle. They don’t try to make things easy for you at all.

I am happy with my sons first grade teacher Mrs. Toth room 9 she is wonderful and really cares for her students. She always wants the best for them and she evens worries when i take my son out early good teacher !!! She is awsome

My daughter had a horrible 2^nd grade teacher Godinez. She should really retire. I can tell she doesn’t truly enjoy her job. She yelled alot and blamed it on losing hearing in one of her ears amd she scared the kids. I had to go talk to her a few times after my daughter came home and told me things she did. Things eventually got better near the end of the year.
This year my daughter’s 3^rd grade teacher Miss Toth is AMAZING. She loves her job and teaches so that the kids have fun but learn as well. You can tell that this is her passion and not just a paycheck. I would give her 10 stars here if I could. I pray that the fire stays lit in her for teaching because she is damn good at it.
Burbank Elementary is a ok school. I am a single parent and needed to find a school that offered CDC so that my daughter could stay after hours. I feel the school caters more to the non English speaking and is in need of updated computers, playground equipment, etc. The parking is horrible and you get tickets if you aren’t careful. Thankfully I am moving out of state and my daughters last day is this week.

Teachers:
My son had a horrible teacher in 2^nd grade, but his 3^rd grade teacher Miss Toth makes up for it. You can tell the kids love her and she cares about her students and loves what she does. Every Friday she sends a paper home with info about what the students learned that week, work progress, etc.
Campus:
I’m really disappointed that there is no ramp in the front building leading into the office. There was no staff willing to help me carry my double stroller up the stairs. I had to leave my son with his little brothers out front, while I talked to the someone in the office to open a side gate. More work than it had to be. I had to go thru the auditorium and then finally up a ramp into the main building.
One thing I do like about the appearance of this school is that they actually have grass on the playground and a few trees. It’s a bummer when I see schools with only a blacktop. Can you make it more hotter during recess?
Fundraisers/​events:
They do plenty of these here. Selling Helen Grace chocolate (wish it was World’s Finest instead), random pre — holiday catalog stuff, Halloween’s truck o treating, family movie night, carnivals, and all that jazz.
Track B schedule:
Someone mentioned how they hated it, but we like it. So what if your kid had to go back to school after 4^th of July. Kids in America are bums anyway. How many holidays do we really need. It’s basically 1 month off for every 3 months. So students usually get the months of December, April, and August off. I like it better that my kid only gets a month off in the summer, so his brain doesn’t turn to mush. Also, lucky him. He gets to be in his air conditioned classroom while I’m at home using a crappy fan.

Called them over the phone to find out if it was our home school. Maria was very kind to search that on her data base. Thanks! Great Customer service!!!
