Since its inception 40 years ago in Long Beach, the company’s goal has been to provide cost effective and reliable solar energy solutions to residential, commercial and municipal clients in Los Angeles and Orange County.

Partnering with reputable solar panel manufacturers, we offer high quality solar electric systems (often referred to as photovoltaic or PV), solar pool heaters, and solar hot water systems. We manage every part of the solar installation process — including design, installation, financing, filing of rebate and incentive paperwork, and maintenance — so that our customers can make an easy and painless transition to using solar energy.

Licensed as a C-​46 solar contractor (California License # 483 280), AMECO Solar holds general liability, auto, and worker’s compensation insurance and does not use subcontractors.

History

Established in 1974.

Having been in the solar business for 40 years now, AMECO Solar has come a long way since our humble beginnings in 1974. Throughout this time, we’ve always stayed true to the core mission of our company: to provide reliable, cost-​effective solar solutions in an effort to secure a clean energy future and create a better environment for us all.

Since we were founded, we have installed solar hot water systems and solar pool heaters. We were one of the first companies to get a solar electric contractors license. AMECO Solar outgrew its offices and warehouse, and moved to our current 10,000 square foot warehouse and office in Paramount, where we have been based since 2008. Though so much has changed since 1974, our company still remains committed to promoting solar energy as a way to establish energy independence and work towards a brighter, sustainable future.

We look forward to another 40 years of helping Southern Californians go solar.

Business Owner

Patrick is the CEO & President of AMECO Solar. He is considered a pioneer in the solar industry and is widely regarded as a strong advocate for favorable solar legislation, often using his extensive experience to speak at state government hearings in Sacramento. He sits on the board of the California Solar Energy Industries Association (CALSEIA) and has been a member since 1980. Patrick has dedicated his life to the promotion of solar as the solution to our world’s energy needs. He runs his company based on the values of integrity and honesty, while providing only the highest quality products and workmanship.

Ameco is the best. I have 3.2 kW PV as well as water heating. Their new installations and repair jobs are the best in the industry and fairly priced.

Over a year ago and after reading several excellent reviews on Ameco and how the never tried to pressure you, I called for a estimate. John arrived on time and provided me with two proposals a 12 panel & 24 panel system to choose from. I was not ready at that time, but was impressed by how professional he was. I never received a sales call after that which was another thing that impressed me. I contacted Ameco 10 months later and told them I wanted to proceed with the 24 panel system. Everything went as scheduled and they were very professional along with being extremely friendly. I liked the idea they were small with only around 18 employees, so they work together like a family who has been together for a very long time. My system was up and running on schedule September 2nd and to date my Edison reading is 104% below this time last year. So needless to say I’m very happy and would highly recommend Ameco Solar for anyone looking to purchase a solar system.

We had the bigger companies out to give estimates, and we never had a good feeling about any of their companies. So we decided to give AMECO a shot, figuring it was a smaller company. It was clearly a no brainier from the very first phone call. Everything went as planned, they came through on everything they promised!!! Stop wasting your time and give them a call.

AMECO Solar installed out initial systems eight years ago. They took the time to create the optimum configuration to meet our needs, make use of our home’s structure, & aesthetic wishes.
As we are at home more after our retirement and are seriously considering the purchase of a plugin car, we will soon be using AMECO again to add more panels & update our system. The contract for our new work was simple & clear, and we will have the updates completed by year’s end.
We could not ask for a more honest & capable company to address our solar power needs.

My solar panels were installed by Ameco exactly one year ago today. David Saltzman estimated that I would produce 12,626 kWh of electricity over the course of 365 days. He was close, the final tally is just over 13,000 kWh and we are very pleased.

I signed a contract with them 5 weeks ago to install solar thermal and solar PV. The installer did not contact me for several weeks as promised, and I had to call him. He assured me everything was on schedule, although behind what was promised. Two weeks later, he informed me he would have to charge me an additional $ 7200 to remove my clay tiles and install composite tiles under the panels. He blamed it on the sales person (Todd), but the installer and his staff were out here several weeks ago reviewing the job. Back to square one looking for bids!

We just installed Solar Panels to heat our new in ground swimming pool, we decided on AMECO for many reasons. They have been in business for over 40 years, they stand behind their products and the process was fast and seamless. We met with John he came to our home on time and brought a folder full of information on the company and references along with a sample of the solar panels they suggest. John even got on the roof and took measurements to make sure the panels would fit properly for maximum sun exposure, before making a recommendation, unlike the two other companies that provided us a bid they never bothered to get on the roof. Installation was done in one day by Edgar, Jim and Eric they were very professional and friendly. We have had our panels for only a week and our pool is already heating up nicely.

Ameco Solar did a great job.
I did a lot of research online for ways to heat our pool with solar panels. It is an odd shape and at nearly 70′ in length the water temps were pretty cold. I called and was connected with Todd who scheduled a time the next day to come out and take a look at pool and our equipment.
He spent a good amount of time measuring the pool, our roof and made sure to ask me what I thought of the placement of the panels on the roof. He suggested on the side of the house as he didn’t want them to be seen from the backyard or the front. Clearly he has done this many times as he said your wife will not want to look at them. :)
He took the time to explain all of the panels that are currently on the market and what to be cautious of and what questions to ask of other installers. He never bad mouthed the competition but provided his insight on why the products they chose to use are superior.
At the end of the day their quote was not the cheapest but for the reasons above and the quality of the product I chose Ameco and have been very satisfied.
I asked them to put a rush on the install and they were able to move things around and schedule us in in less then a week. Install was smooth and uneventful.
My pool which was previously un-​swimable heated up to the mid 70’s after just a few days and has been very comfortable in the 80’s all summer long.
Fast forward 6 months I noticed a small leak from one of the panels on the roof. I called and they sent a crew out to take a look. It was diagnosed and fixed in about 10 minutes. Turned out a gasket was pinched in one of the connectors.

I interviewed 10 solar companies and Ameco was the most knowlegable out of all of them. They have been in business doing solar installs for over 40yrs. They were on time, cleaned up every day and did an outstanding job. I would recommend Ameco to anybody.

We did a lot of research and interviewed companies. When Todd from AMECO came to see us, his knowledge and his info plus the fact AMECO has been in business since 1974 and selling solar since 1985, really impressed us. He was honest and answered every one of our questions. The other company reps had seemed like glorified salesmen. Todd was the first who wanted to walk our roof as he said those companies who depend on Goggle for roof sizes are often inaccurate. David, who is in charge of installation, was prompt to respond and extremely helpful also. We now have our panels installed and are awaiting final ok from SCE. We can’t wait to turn them on! We are very impressed with this company from interview to installation — all top notch.

I did quite a bit of reseach before buying. I got quotes from Sol Fusion, su… I didnt get a quote from Peterson Dean. I found Ameco to be the best bang for the buck. So much so after I had 5 bids, I called a few more, told them the Ameco price, and they wouldnt quote. It you look at price per KW hour… Ameco is best. they offered the top of the line Sun Power panels as well as the LG ones I decided to get. Todd was great! Dave Saltzman, the project manger was ahead of schedule and non intrusive at all! Price and service, this is a great company! I purchased my panels. I qualified thru Matador Credit Union which charges a large fee for the financing. Ameco make me aware of it much sooner than the bank. they were upfront.

Ameco Solar is the best solar company in the business. They have been around since 1974! Go ask any other solar company how long they have been around. If your roof starts to leak 20 years from now, do you think the company that has been around for the past five years will be around? So that is one reason to go with them.
Ameco Solar is also the most knowledgeable company around. When I interviewed other solar companies I was greeted by a salesman who knew less about solar power than I did. I have done my research and Ameco knew more than I did which was a good sign. Their salesman also had a mockup of a roof and he showed me what they were going to do to my roof. The hardest part of the solar job is removing the roof tiles and attaching the structure to your roof. Ameco employs roofers who know what they are doing. You don’t want to have someone make a mistake on your roof. If water gets in over time it can make a huge mold problem. So you must have someone who is knowledgeable.
Ameco also had several options for me and they did a price comparison for me with all of the features of each one. They didn’t pressure me into the highest price option. They were patient with me when I took a couple of months to think it over and obtain bids from other places.
I’ve had my system for the past three years and the experience with Ameco has been excellent! They were professional, thorough, and they knew what they were doing. I stopped the river of money going to SCE and I highly recommend that you do the same by having Ameco install a solar system on your house. FYI… I am not a friend or relative of someone who works at Ameco and they did not pay me to give such a glowing review. They actually earned it.

I just had a finished trying to get an estimate from this company for solar pool heating. What a disaster! After many emails I still couldn’t get them to send an estimator to my house for a firm price. In the end the contact person told me to «lose all my contact information».

Yup — this company delivers. I researched quite a few companies and products before converting my pool to solar heat. There are a wide range of options out there and I was very concerned with company reliability and longevity (and product warranty servicing), while trying to keep costs down.
From John, the sales guy, to David, the ops manager, to the crew that really went above and beyond to deal with a challenging install, I was extremely impressed. No high pressure sales pitch, just lots of client education. Every question I had (and I had many) was answered to my complete satisfaction, and very quickly. When you are laying out a big chunk of change, you want your high expectations to be met. Mine were.
It hasn’t been hot enough yet to use the pool, but I can feel the hot water streaming in on the warmer days. This is a company that should be around to service the warranty, and based on how smoothly the transaction went from sale to install, I expect the excellent service to continue for many years. At this time, I’m very pleased that I decided to go with Ameco.

My installation was just completed about 4 weeks ago. Everything was awesome. The planning and attention to detail was beyond my expectations. The installation was perfect — not even visable unless you’re on the roof! I’m generating enough power to supply 100% of my needs at this moment (although the heat of summer is coming — but also the cool of winter!). Thanks to the wise counsel of Pat and Dave I bought enough panels to max out the inverters so my system is 14 KW. I’d interviewed some other companies and was totally turned off by the high pressure sales techniques. Ameco was straight-​forward and seemed to really understand the entire system, my needs and the industry much better than anyone else. I would HIGHLY recommend.
