I return and return, because this is the most comfortable, all inclusive, no attitude gym/​community facility I’ve ever belonged to. I’m compelled to come home straight after my workout and write this, as I not only congratulate myself for getting out of the house and do something good for my health, but so very inspired by the large cross-​section of people there today: from the serious basketball players, to the grunting chiseled weightlifters, to the skinny minnies running their hearts out, to the average joes just trying to keep and/​or stay healthy, to the families, and to the octogenarians, some with walkers and wheelchairs, so well cared for by the staff, who show up, and do what they can (sometimes better than I can!). A reminder to be grateful, and to be kind, to everyone. This is the place. And yes, the workout room might be small, but it is full of high end equipment that is well maintained.

I really don’t want to review this place and tell everybody how nice the pool is because I really hate a crowded pool.
I try to come here every day to swim. They have a really nice heated pool that is almost always the perfect temperature. The staff always makes sure to ask clients whether the water temperature is too hot, too cold, or just right. During days of the heat wave, they turn down or turn off the heater to make sure the water is nice and cold when we jump in.
Last week, I realized that I had lost a pair of goggles here — either in the locker room or around the pool. I asked one of the lifeguards if they had it in their lost and found; it wasn’t there but he promised to keep an eye out. I didn’t think my would ever show up again so I ended up buying a new pair. The following week, the lifeguard had said he had found my goggles! Hip hip, hooray!

This place is truly a hidden jem. JCC is full of fun actitivites. No matter what day or what time of day, you can alway find a workout class, or fun lunch/​dinner party. The pool hours are great. The gym is never crowded, and kept very clean at all times. The staff here is above and beyond. Everyone greets you with a smile. You cant help but feel wanted here. Such a great diverse family atmosphere. I truly enjoy coming to the JCC for a fun sunday by the pool or an intense morning bootcamp session. I wish i would of found this place way sooner! –Stotts family

The workout classes are great, the staff care, and the place is spotless.

This place is a true community center, as its name implies. Most people may be put off by the Jewish in it’s name but it is truly for the everyone. I’ve been coming here with a group of guys since 2001 when our YMCA closed and this was the only private facility with full sized basketball courts to accommodate our group. I did not realize how huge this place is! They also have THE BEST preschool in Long Beach, with its own playground. The pool is always available.
I use the place for the courts, gym and occasional fitness classes (TRX, Pilates, spinning. Have not tired the Barre Blitz class yet)
They also have several multipurpose rooms for weddings, events and social activities. I always see different community and civic groups taking advantage of their spaces
It is dedicated to maintaining Jewish identity and culture. The lobby has rotating art and cultural exhibits as well. They host talks from prominent Jewish voices and have film festivals as well.

I love caring and sharing with kith and kin the all inclusive role modeling spirit of your center that welcomes universal family of all faiths.
From security guard, custodians, volunteers to executive management, the experiences are 10+ class act professional and personal.
It doesn’t get any better than this.
I urge one/​all to pass this on… there is something for everyone: gym, pools, fitness classes, early childhood, youth and teens, camps, poker nights, special events, eclectic art galleries, holy and holiday galas, list is endless.
No matter whom I talk to… their praise is as lavish as mine.
Kudos to Rabbi Perelmuter, top of list in teachers; class peers; same for Inge Johnson and fellow classmates. Loving prayers are daily.

Your go to place. Everyone loves this place. They have a one stop place. Pool, childcare, library, family services, gym, and so much more

Love this place!
Always greeted w a friendly smile and the building is always clean. I first joined JCC because of it’s awesome outdoor pool. Being a swimmer, it was important for me to swim in a good sized outdoor pool and JCC definitely met the criteria.
The upstairs gym is money. Always clean and never overcrowded, I feel like I can workout and not feel like I am being watched as with most other conventional gyms. Great equipment and open areas for abs/​stretching.
JCC also offers many other fitness classes which I have heard great things about. Only have been to the fast spin class w Elsie and it was great.
NOTE– you don’t have to be Jewish to come in here or have a membership. Anyone is welcome, and you won’t be disappointed.

My kids went to preschool there. It was a very good experience for them and myself. I thought the program was on of the best. The facility is very good. I have been to and had functions there. I.e. Poker nights and fund raisers, I have used their gym and pool. I’ve meet some really special people there and will never forget the place. I’m not a member anymore due to my kids have grown and have a lot of other activities that keep us away. I am happy to have experienced the jcc.

Love this gym. I’ve been a member 4+ years now. They have a pool, 2 basketball courts and an upstairs to work out/​cardio. The work out room doesn’t have all the machines compared to like a 24 hour fitness but that doesn’t bother me. Pool is great for the kids. Basketball courts there also host basketball camps/​league for kids which is great for everyone.
This place has great staff and friendly members.

Membership is way overpriced for what you get. Missing a lot of equipment in the gym. Management staff is very unpleasant.

Great place and nice facilities. Plenty of parking and great location. Half mile from the freeway.
Although they do have 2 pools for adults and kids, which is great. Kids pool is kids pool and I find the life guards are being very tough and loud on the children for simply playing or splashing a bit. Hello??? …this is what kids do! Besides you do have parents there watching their children.
Some friendly life guards would be a great plus…

I go to the gym here. Everyone is friendly and it is not crowded. Even during peak hours you can get on the equipment without waiting long. I’ve been doing some personal training with Jaime for the past couple months and she is awesome. I would highly recommend her if you are interested in personal training services.

I don’t know much about this place aside from Pete’s Davis basketball camp
Coach Pete Davis basketball camp is EXCELLENT. Coach Davis is extremely friendly and helpful. They welcome all levels from beginner (rookie) to veterans. Coach has a wonderful coaching staff who are helpful not only to the kids but to the parents as well. They’ll do their best to make sure you child is in the right team to practice with.
MY son played under Coach Royce in the summer and is currently playing for him again. He is one the most caring and understanding people you’ll meet. He’s great at teaching them all the fundamentals from passing, dribbling, shooting, etc. Above all, he’s EXTREMELY PATIENT with all his players. If you child is a beginner like mine, i highly recommend either Coach Royce or any of the other coaches to help guide your child in the great sport.
I would recommend anyone sending their kids to Coach Pete’s basketball camp/​league whatever level thy’re at. They’re all completely professional

I’ve been a member for about ten years.
It’s impossible to take advantage of everything the J has to offer, mainly because you can’t be a toddler and a senior citizen at the same time. However, if you have family members spanning the entire age continuum, the J has programming for all of them. For Jews, it’s a comfortable place to connect with the religion and with Israeli affairs in general. However, the ethnic diversity reflects the greater Long Beach area with many of the employees and members having little to no interest in Jewish life.
My kids learned a lot from the warm and enthusiastic preschool teachers at the Early Childhood Education center. My wife and I took advantage of the babysitting so we could work out at the well-​equipped gym.
Mostly, I swim in the outdoor pool as my activity at the J now. I usually enjoy a lane to myself. All year round, when the weather agrees, I take my kids over to splash around for a while.
Parking is usually easy except during weekday morning preschool drop-​off. The friendly staff really try to accommodate.

Found them couple of years ago, but wish I knew about them sooner. They are awesome. Check them out, because there is always some area in your life that needs improvement and they are there to help you out.

Memberships are fairly priced. I believe dues are $ 32 monthly, and $ 69 monthly for a couple’s membership.
*Good-​sized weight room (both free weights and cable machines.
*Good amount of treadmills and elliptical’s. have never seen people having to wait for one.
*Two full-​court basketball gyms (although only one is open all day for open gym).
*Large pool (can’t confirm if Olympic size) with designated lanes. Jacuzzi as well.
*Large private, gated parking lot.
*Workout classes are on the slim (no pun intended) size. Mostly offered during midday.
*Halls available to rent for private parties. I’ve only seen them, never rented myself.
Located on Willow between Lakewood Blvd and Redondo Ave. Right next to The Grand.

Beautiful place to come to get your workout done. The grounds are immaculate, and the entrance to the JCC just had another makeover, adding even more ambiance.
The gym is absolutely awesome, and well maintained. The machines are basically brand new as of a few months ago, replete with TV’s, plug ins for iPods, etc.
It is not a great big huge gym, but what is there is clean, pleasant, and positive. Staff is accomodating and willing to answer any questions.
And hey, on your way in, 80% of the attendants at the front desk entrance are genuinely happy to see you!

This place is great!
I’m reviewing the fitness center but they also have a school and many community programs to check out. I am the resident pool shark so I’m all about the aquatics… and the pool is the ONLY one in the area that has lap lanes open at almost all times of the day. The summer is a little hectic but easy to work your schedule around. The upstairs fitness center has all new equipment. Great staff. I love this place for more reasons than will fit on a Unilocal review… but to sum it up If you live in the area this place is a must.
