Adrift Hotel and Spa

Adrift is cool for many reasons. Great location. Very dog-​friendly. The restaurant upstairs has some pretty decent bites to eat (go for the happy hour) and some good damn beer. We had a blast walking the dogs on the trail to and from the beach, which was never too crowded. We were also able to leave the dogs behind, grab a couple of beach cruisers from downstairs, and hit the Discovery trail. We don’t normally ride bikes, so this was perfect for us. We felt like kids again riding along the trail, stopping to watch some big-​ass kites and take in some of the scenery and wildlife. Adrift keeps the coffee and water flowing downstairs … and I’m talking about good gourmet coffee and fancy iced water with lemon/​cucumber/​pineapple.
You might wonder why 3-​stars were given here if everything was so perfect. That’s because it wasn’t, unfortunately. If you’re into lots of noise, this is the place for you! The walls are very thin and each floor has a common area that may or may not be regulated per the rules posted on the wall. Aside from the bands who may or may not have played up until the posted cut-​off time, the noise was prevalent and constant at all hours. It often sounded like someone was moving furniture right above our heads. Mind you, we were two stories below the restaurant. As for the customer service … a very friendly and helpful staff except for one Snippy McSnipperson who couldn’t be bothered with our issues. Although the management did listen to our concerns and gave us a small discount — much appreciated. Lastly, the fees (pet fees and package fees) that are posted online do not match the fees charged on the invoice. Seems like they had a price hike and forgot to update their website. Be sure to clarify the fees up front.

This place is a great escape! I stayed here once 5 years ago, and now again and its even better than I remembered. The sunset view from Pickled Fish is incredible. That alone is worth a trip!

The décor was fun— artisic, industrial, recycled, creative. Comfortable room, wonderful bed, friendly folks, superb restaurant with fantastic live music. Favorite part: the free bikes to ride along the beach to breakfast. We’ll be back.

The Location is great!
It is Shabby Sheik style. Our queen bed was (super) comfy with nice homey comfy sheets and coverings, that was the best part.
The room itself is suitable, not luxurious but plenty fine for active folks like us that weren’t there much anyway.

I needed a bit more space for my clothes as there was no closest and we were there for a wedding.
Being on the bottom floor was nice to go in and out allot (as we did) but we also had lots of noise above us at night after the band at the resteraunt (Pickled Fish) got done, (this was annoying).
They are a pet friendly establishment and there were lots of pets there.
That is awesome, as in my picture our little dog on the bed.
There are no rugs on the floors so our dog didn’t want to walk on it at all, and bring slippers or flip flops to keep the sand off the floor (that you drag in) from getting on your feet.
There’s no free breakfast, just very strong coffee, so plan for that.
Didn’t try the (pickled fish) so maybe breakfast there, We ate at the various Café’s in town (and it was good).
Over all this is a nice, standard place, good price especially given the locality of the beach, but do plan accordingly to what Iv told you :)

Purchased off of living social, this was a really seamless and lovely experience. The drive from Seattle is gorgeous, and the hotel is really great for small groups!

I really want to give this place 5 stars but they just don’t hit it with their service. It’s a cool hotel, especially for the beach. Think Ace Hotel with a beach vibe, this place has great style. We loved the décor and the furnishings were comfortable. However, it wasn’t really clean and the housekeepers came every day but left garbage and dirty dishes in the room for 3 days. When they made the bed they just pulled the covers up and never cleaned the bathroom. We aren’t high maintenance, we don’t expect new towels every day but taking the garbage out should be a minimum. We ate at the restaurant twice and enjoyed both times. The pizza wasn’t great but everything also was superb. The bar tenders were spectacular. Skip the add on packages, we ordered the celebration one and the cupcakes were dry and stale. This place has so much potential, they just need to put some energy behind service.

I’ve stayed at this hotel twice now (once in September, once in April — I like the off season) and it’s been great both times. I’ve gotten a top floor King suite both times. It’s pretty simple but I love the décor (not sure what to call it… actually makes me think of «minimalist steampunk»).
There’s a great hotel restaurant — see my separate review for «Pickled Fish» — and apparently some indoor game rooms though I still haven’t checked that out. No coffee makers in the rooms but there’s always free hot coffee, hot tea and infused water in the lobby. There’s also a library of movies you can check out (though I have yet to really look at that, either).
The lobby also has bikes you can check out for free. They are simple pedal bikes (no gears) but plenty good enough for exploring up and down the paved path that runs along the beach. Rooms have free wi-​fi. It was a weak signal in September but they seem to have shored it up and I got a strong signal this latest time (exact same room — I actually requested the same room I had before since it worked out so well the first time. Apparently there was no problem with that request!)
If you want a chill location at a chill beach for a chill vacation, I recommend this place.

We LOOOOVE the Adrift Hotel!!! The rooms are clean and cool, has that simple modern vibe. The beds are very comfy, sleep like a rock every time we have stayed. The location is great, super close to the beach and the town where all the shopping and restaurants are. The staff is friendly and love that they have organic coffee there for you to enjoy. The Pickled Fish has a beautiful ocean view and has great food with gluten free options and the music is fun and rockin!

Had a wonderful time staying at this hotel! Front desk was extremely helpful and accommodating. Very cool that they have delicious fresh brewed coffee, refreshing infused h2O, bikes to borrow, library, games, and game area! This place is very cool, and hip. Their line of toiletries smell, and are amazing too. (Natural Essential Oils based) love that this place is affordable, clean and pet friendly! Can’t wait for our next trip to the Washington coast!

Stayed at this wonderful little hotel for a weekend getaway to celebrate my birthday. My boyfriend and I absolutely loved it. Very romantic place. They greeted us with two free beers, great service. Free bikes for guests to ride along the coast. The rooms are very simple, but cute! Located right on the beach. We also enjoyed the restaurant above, the best clam chowder I have ever had. On our last night we purchased the bonfire kit, probably my favorite part. Although we couldn’t get our fire started, the people next to us were kind enough to give us theirs. Will definitely be coming back!

We came to Adrift because I purchased a Living Social deal for a two-​night. And the hotel staff are super nice, clean, and friendly. The entire hotel has this hip, vintage feel with great decorations, bikes for you to use, or board games and movies.
Oh, and I love the soaps and shampoos they give you. I bought a couple of bottles when we left because of the wonderful lavender smell!
The pickled fish is right up above, which is a great place to eat and convenient having it in the hotel.
The thing I mark the down for is the noise of other guests. Which was the only real issue. Especially if you are trying to sleep in, or in the middle of the night the floor above you decided to start running around. Which I should have noise was and issue the fact they have earplugs in the bedroom. That’s the only negative I found, which is annoying when your trying to relax. Don’t really wanna hear all the other guests in the hotel.

Stayed here from a Groupon so I paid less than regular price and it’s a good thing I did. Staff was friendly and liked that they have free bike rentals. Room was clean when we arrived but the décor that is supposed to be contemporary was just cheap and minimal. Beds were comfortable and clean. Like that it was really close to the beach and trails.
However the curtains did not cover the whole window allowing light and people to see in since we were on the first floor and window looked out on the parking lot. Mini fridge did not have a small freezer section so I couldn’t refreeze my ice packs for our cooler. Walls were incredibly thin and heard everything from rooms upstairs. You know it’s a problem when they provide earplugs in all the rooms.
Stayed 2 nights and the cleaning staff didn’t sweep the floors after the first night. There was so much sand on the floors we had to lay all our towels out after using them just to walk around in clean feet or socks. We never wore our shoes in the room except just inside the door so not sure how sand got all over the room in the first place. Cleaning staff didn’t even give us new glasses for water or another ice bag for the bucket. Pretty sure all they did was make the beds.

My husband’s employer put us up here for a work-​related event, and it was a great experience. Because we were attending work functions, we didn’t eat at the restaurant, and I feel like I missed out on some amenities mentioned by other reviewers. However … I can say that our room was fantastic.
I was completely impressed by our dog-​friendly room and the overall accommodating atmosphere. Since I’d never brought my chihuahua on an overnight trip, I asked a few questions about protocol — The staff advised that we were expected to take the dog with us when we left the room, but they further explained that it was acceptable to leave our pet for a SHORT period of time (i.e., long enough to dine in the hotel restaurant). If the animal was left alone, we were asked to notify the staff so that they could text my cell phone if he barked and caused complaints.
The second best part was the MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS. Wow. These were by far the best two nights I’ve ever spent in a hotel, and a BIG part of that was due to the super-​comfy mattress.
Our room was spotlessly clean and neat. The furnishings were modern and some were repurposed (like an old school desk for a writing table). Mason jars were provided in place of plastic cups, and the ice bucket was an actual, metal bucket. I really appreciated the hooks on the wall for hanging dog leashes, my purse, etc.
Parking was an issue, but I’m guessing that the hotel was pretty full because everyone attending my husband’s work event was staying there. We arrived on a Friday night and had trouble finding a spot, but it was not a major issue. I would definitely stay here again!

It was wonderful. We used a Groupon and I just loved the modern clean feel that that gave. We rented bikes, had dinner that the restaurant (which was also playing live music). Our highlight was the fireside kit. It was so romantic and fun. A great weekend getaway.

Love this hotel! The hotel has a very modern/​urban feel. It’s very clean and they have great customer service. First night, we stayed in a two full-​size bed room. The second night, we stayed in a suite with 2 bathrooms and a king-​sized bed. This suite had a view of the beach on the second floor. It was everything I hoped for. The suite had a large bedroom and a large living space. We didn’t even use the living space because the bedroom was big enough. We just watched TV in the bedroom, even though they provided a larger TV in the living space. The bedroom was very clean and had a panoramic view of the beach. The bedroom also had a thick curtain in case you wanted to sleep in!
One negative thing I would say about my stay was that it was a little noisy. It is a pet-​friendly hotel, so there were tons of dogs barking. I’m sure the loudness depends on the weather and time. It seemed like people left their pets unattended in their hotel rooms at night time and on days it rained. Also, the upstairs guests were a little noisy… but I can see why since the hotel has hardwood floors. Just beware that it isn’t the quietest hotel since pets are present.
Overall, the weekend I spent at Adrift Hotel was amazing! I highly recommend you to visit. It’s close to the beach, the hotel is clean and spacious, the upstairs hotel restaurant is delicious (Pickled Fish), and they have free movies/​game boards/​bikes to borrow during your stay. Take advantage of the bikes and go for a ride on the boardwalk.

The stay was very nice, the front desk people friendly, and the location is close to the ocean front very and very convenient for a weekend getaway. They had a great selection of snack and beer to purchase, free coffee and tea, and many bikes to borrow. Why only 3 stars then? Once you get past the lobby, the place feels more like a cheaper hostel rather then a modern spa hotel, in fact I really have no idea where the spa comes into play.
The room was very spacious and we found the king bed comfortable however I was a bit disappointed by the advertised «incredible ocean views». More realistic were the incredible parking lot views, or the incredible sand dune, grass, and tree views. From our 2^nd floor room we did see the ocean but it was more like ¹⁄₈ of the view rather then the dominate view. However for Long Beach this is about as close as you will get to the Ocean.
The other issue I had with the room was the unfinished and cheap feeling passed off as modern. Screws poked out from the bathroom floor, electrical was unfinished/​trimmed out, the bathroom fan was noisy and pretty much unusable, the plastic bathroom sink cracked, there was a cheap vinyl tub insert, all of the shelving/​bed stands are wood crates, flooring was used as wall art, the lighting was exposed bulbs with wired cages and all of the signage is spray pained stencil. Another bad sign is they supplied our room with 2 sets of free earplugs. It felt like there was zero insulation in the walls and the live music went on until 11pm on Saturday night at the restaurant 3 floors above, so if you don’t enjoy hearing lots of noise, I would recommend not staying anywhere near or under the restaurant (i.e. all the rooms with the god views). We also heard the water draining down pipes by anyone flushing the toilet or showering in the rooms above, not very welcomed at 6 am.
Also the site does say dog friendly but based on the amount of dogs roaming about it felt like more like dogs required. There were no issues for us but if you are not an animal lover or allergic you might have issues. The one saving grace is we came on MLK weekend and received a winter weekend special of $ 95/​night, I think if I spent more I would have been a little upset.
All in all for Long Beach and reduced winter room rates Adrift was a fine choice, but if you are expecting warm, inviting, well constructed or quiet, you may want to look elsewhere.

Our experience with the front desk was awesome. The employees are super friendly and enjoy conversation, and check in was simple enough. They even have free bikes to ride and free movies to check out in the lobby.
The entire hotel has this hip, vintage feel? I’m not sure how else to explain it? Other reviewers I’m sure do a better job than I do at explaining the ambience, I was kind of feeling it… Kind of not… but you know, my standards aren’t the highest and I think gastropubs are pretty cool, so *shrugs*.
The rooms are clean, and I kind of fell in love with the lavender and orange toilette products they had, not to mention their towels are super squishy. So high five adrift for your squishy towels, i feel i need to increase my expectations with hotel towels because of you. We were told we would get ocean view for our room which really turned out to be a view of another hotel + ocean view in the far off distance view. So when checking out a room, just keep in mind of that. Not to mention our keys failed at doing their one job which was unlocking the door.
Aside from all of that, some uppers? They have an awesome walk in see through shower and rainfall showerhead, there’s a bluetooth player in the room, beds are comfy, rooms are spacious and there’s a spa somewhere on the premises that I’m sure I would have taken full advantage of had we stayed longer.
PS. If you’re on the 4^th floor, you’ll be on the same floor as the restaurant which is kind of all sorts of awesome.
PSS. If you’re on the 4^th floor, you’ll have to walk down a floor to get to the ice machine. Not sure if this matters to you considering you’re in the PNW, but if ice is a priority then you gotta make some sacrifices to the convenience of good food down the hall. Your pick.

I frankly had a hard time deciding between a two and three star rating. It has a great location. It is safe and the property has what you need. The room was clean and comfortable. The toiletries (shampoo, bath gel, lotion) were very nice. I think their intent was to have the interior buildout be rustic. But there is a difference between rustic and poor quality craftsmanship. It was so poorly done that it kind of became fun to look around in a comical way. There was zero consideration as to the acoustics of the building and how to use finishes to mitigate noise. Consequently it was a very noisy building.
In the end, it was just fine. It is all about adjusting your expectations. If you think of a new Holiday Inn Express or Best Western as a typical 3 star property and a run down/​beat up Motel 6 or old strip motel as a 2 star property, then this is a two star property. The location, excellent restaurant and the «funk» get it an extra star.

Great hotel, very pet friendly. Would have gotten 5 stars but the front desk totally ruined our dinner plans. We specifically asked if we needed to make reservations for pickled fish, they told us they don’t take reservations and to walk in and there isn’t usually a wait. We walked in… 2 hour wait because they were overbooked on reservations!
We asked Britney at the front desk to help, who basically told us we were SOL.

This place has so much potential! 2 stars due to the following. Staff across the board were lovely but slow to react to our needs. Extra linens and cot request took multiple requests.
We booked a East Suite and the photos didn’t really match the reality. Couch sleeper is more of a two tiered day bed and not suitable for two teenagers. Request a cot and got a camping folding cot — seriously… There were small rips in a number of our sheets. Bed was more foam than memory. We did not sleep well.
This place is LOUD. You hear everything. Stairwell banging, delivery trucks, diesel pickups, dogs. You can’t hear the ocean.
The wifi is so slow it’s dial up…
We were very disappointed.
