Service was whatever. the water is nasty. the restaurant smells old and like piss. the salad had 1 little slice tomato, cucumber, and onion which was kind of awkward. Taquitos were absolute garbage theyre from frozen served with brown quac and a sprinkle of cheese. chicken soft tacos had no flavor also served with brown guacamole. Veryyyy disappointed would never eat here again. disgusting.

Soooo gross and so disappointed! Water tasted like old ass, taquitos were from the microwave, side salad had whole pieces of tomatoes and onions so you couldn’t enjoy that without cutting them up yourself. Soft chicken tacos were flavorless and there were hard parts in the chicken! I would never recommend going here horrible!

I only gave this place a 2 star because our reservation was for 630, they ran out of baked potato and garlic mashers… the steak was good, the service painfully slow. It was busy and they were not prepared… most likely will not be back…

I was so disappointed in my food. First time out, I got burnt ribs. Burnt?! I expected well done. They were nice enough to replace the ribs with some that were still overdone, but better. I had better luck with them in the past when I ordered a steak medium rare and actually got what I asked for. If you are a foodie of any kind, don’t bother with the vegetables. Those were overcooked & soft. The baked potato was borderline overcooked. I just didn’t have the heart at the time to complain about everything, so put on a good face and rolled with it. It makes me feel bad. It makes me feel bad to write about it on Unilocal, too. The service was good, and the waitress was pretty nice. But there were some obvious cracks in the veneer because we could hear her exasperation when she complained to the chef that she was the only person. Still, chef ought to known how to cook ribs. SLOW cook on LOW heat so they are tender and cooked all the way to the bone. It’s the only meat that I think is OK well done — but it has to be done right. I guess I’m gonna have to try to do ribs at the next BBQ I attend so I can get satisfaction. Meanwhile, the man was totally happy with his burger and fries. Clearly, I’m doing it all wrong.

Where are the negative stars. This place is dirty. I had stuff floating in my cup my silverware was dirty. The sat us at a table where 2 were put together and just nasty in between them. The tiles on the ceiling had stuff falling from them. We decided it wasn’t worth the risk of getting sick so I paid for my daughters sprite and we went to Eddies down the road. Eddies is where u want to go in this town.

I often crave breakfast for dinner. The best thing about this place is their breakfast, so if they would get rid of half of their not-so-great dinner items and offer breakfast all day, this place may be able to survive. People don’t go to Denny’s or IHOP at night to order ribs or a steak. They go to satisfy their pancake jones. The only 2 places in Lompoc that offer breakfast all day are The Lompoc Restaurant and Budget Café… ewww! I’d come here more often if they did the same.

The gentleman who helped us(Gabe, I think) was, by far, the best I’ve had for customer service in Lompoc. I have lived here for eleven years and have never experienced a better waiter. I’ve been reluctant to dine at Texas Cattle Co. Since they changed locations. I had heard it had gone down hill in service and food quality. I am happy to say that the service was superb and the food was delicious! I will be dining here again. I was very pleasantly surprised. There are some updates that wouldn’t hurt, but overall I am very happy with my experience today.

Food took a long time to come out and all we ordered was chicken tacos and salads and a steak. Then the steak was well done when she ordered it medium rare.

The pork chops were too dry, salsa needs salt chicken needs seasoning, service was ok, will probably not come back

Service was good and the place decorated with lots of interesting western stuff. However, one gets concerned when an appetizer basket of popcorn is offered. Now, it was good popcorn with a nice seasoned salt, but it was the main entrees that needed help. My Tri Tip sandwich tasted of microwaved beef. Cheese fries were ok, but different, and the steak was of Denny’s quality. I would not visit this place again. 1 star for food, but 2 for the nice service.

This place is a disaster. It is not even worthy of 1 star. Husband and I went in to check it out and totally regretted it, in fact– we went to the Carneceria behind it and purchased a thick Rib Eye steak to take home for ¼ of the price of the cooked one we ordered here. This place is so bad I wouldn’t even recommend it my enemies. Don’t think of eating here unless you enjoy throwing your money away.

Last time I was here I had the ribeye dinner and it was pretty good with garlic mash potatoes and gravy along with vegetables. Why is the front door area so dark? Pie display was dark with moisture on glass.

Worst steak house I have ever been in. Ordered a rib eye and got a steak half raw and the half over cooked. Server was pleasant but that was it. Over charged for soup and sald after the meal was taken off. Filthy restroom and manager could care less about our experience there. They should just sell the place and give up restaurant life because they have no clue at all on meal preparation nor good customer service. never go here again and will warn off anyone asking where to get a steak. You would think that a place calling itself a steak house would serve fresh steaks not frozen ones. Sad

Food was actually pretty good as was my server — just tough to enjoy while the 2 managers were bickering with their employees. I may go back to eat there again but would NEVER work there.

Not that great. I am here working in town with a crew of guys. We were drawn in by the all you can eat beef ribs. It’s $ 20 bucks. On the menu the rib dinner was $ 17 for four ribs side and salad served with garlic toast. The all you can eat starts you out with 4 ribs… The sauce was okay at best and the ribs were unfortunately smoked and not well seasoned at all. You would think the chili would be awesome here right? One of my crew members had nothing but regrets. Another crew menber ordered the cowboy burger which looked like it was an «everything on it» kind of burger. He also was disappointed. Myself and the other guys got the all you can eat ribs. We ate the first 4 and and waited another 25 minutes before they brought out another 2. The server we had was cute and fun but definitely new and kind of slow and had more fun with the other staff in the back rather than being attentive to her customers. The bathrooms are nasty and I felt dirtier after washing my hands than before. This was definitely a one time deal and will not be returning. If there were a claim jumper near this town this place would last maybe a week.

We used to enjoy going to Texas Cattle Co. at their old location mostly because it was a fun experience with the whole Texas theme and running train. Now the newer location feels just like it used to when it housed Maria Calendars with very little of the old atmosphere and no train. The last few times we tried their food in the new location the portions were smaller and the ribs just weren’t what they used to be. That may have improved by now but we haven’t gone back. The biggest reason I stopped even trying them is that they seem to have little pride in their community as they are right on HWY1 yet allow their grounds to look so shabby. If they put in a bit more curb appeal pride and bring back the atmosphere I’d be back in a heartbeat to support this local business or at least give them a few more tries.

I happened to be shopping in Lompoc this weekend. Went to a cool store a friend mentioned to me called Sweet Repeats. Great place to find some interesting items. Anyhow, we were really hungry. Didn’t want to do fast food, and happened to see this place as we drove by. Made a U turn(that I seriously regret) and decided to give the place a try. Let me start of by saying, this place Sucks. It sucks, and it sucks bad. I usually use Unilocal to find places or see what others are saying, and this is really my first review. I was so disgusted with this place that I felt compelled to write about it. I felt so stupid because we were so hungry that I didnt even bother to check Unilocal before eating here. Not that it would have helped, because to all of you who have given this place 5 stars, you must either have gone on the day when the best cook was there and the prices weren’t so over the top. That or you drank something in their water, Maybe your friends with the owners, I dont know. What I do know, is 3 of us sat down, ordered Wings as an Appetizer, an 8oz Sirloin, a 12 oz Ribeye and an Alamo salad. It was all bad. The wings, just the wings alone didnt even look like wings. They looked like rodent parts doused in a weird orange sauce that just smelled like vinegar. I mean Dominos has better wings. Dominos of all places. Then came our salad. It was just sad. About the only good thing was the loaded baked potato I got, and I had to share it. The waitress was very nice, and we felt horrible each time she asked us how everything was. We just had to LIE, because if I really told her how everything was, well it just wouldnt be fair to her. That being said, our steaks didnt taste like anything, and I guess thank god for A-1. The worse part was having to pay 80 dollars. Thats right. 80 bucks for 3 people for lunch. Sounds crazy, and that’s because ITIS. I mean 80 bucks for Hitching Post, AJ Spurs, a super nice Sushi place, probably not out of the question. 80 bucks for a place worse than the worst Denny’s not so much. Dont Eat here, unless you want shitty food at high prices. Last, change your name to something more appropriate, you are seriously misrepresenting yourselves, you should be ashamed. — This is the same restaurant that moved, which is why I mention the 5 stars.

We were looking for a local, casual place for a burger other than a chain. This place was new for us. Its an older place, but the host was friendly. The atmosphere was a little outdated, but themed with a mid-western flair. The bathroom didn’t smell great; could stand to be cleaned a little better. The carpet makes the place smell a little, really needs to go. Country music played(not my preference, but fit the theme), and the beers on tap were quality. Angry Orchard was also on tap, and it tastes amazingly great that way. The free appetizer was popcorn; different, but okay for free. I ordered an avocado burger with grilled onions, and sweet potato fries on the side,(perhaps not everyone’s favorite, but I like that stuff). The only complaints I have about the food are that the burger needs the grease drained off before placing it on the bun. It made the bun horribly soggy. Please stop that, because burger itself was a good quality. It was huge; had to take half home as usual. Also, the sweet potato fries were good, but they dumped too much cinnamon on mine. Just ask them to take it easy on the seasoning. Overall, a great experience. We’ll go again I’m sure. It could be one of my favorites in this small town with a few minor improvements, which could keep me from driving to Santa Maria for someplace else.

This place looks like a 1980s diner and has some of the worst prepared food of any restaurant still in business. Actually, I’m not sure how they are still in business. The tri-tip sandwish was dry and boring. Seemed like it had been prepared days ago and was microwaved to luke-warm before being served. They actually serve popcorn as your appetizer, and even that tasted old and burnt. The waitress and staff was very friendly, however, that is the only upside to this place. Don’t waste your money on an awful meal here. Try anywhere else…

UGH. This place was at least mediocre. We were seated quickly due to the fact that there was virtually no one in the restaurant. The décor is awful and the place didn’t look very clean, especially the bathrooms. First we ordered the Texas toast. It was sure not the Texas toast that I have had previously. It was overloaded with cheddar cheese and the crust was chewy(maybe heated in the microwave). Both my husband and I scraped off the cheese in an attempt to eat it but we failed miserably. My salad was bland and had some of your basic lettuce and a couple of leaves of baby greens also cheddar cheese. I ordered the barbecued tri tip sandwich. The barbecue sauce(on the side) was awful it left a bizarre taste in my mouth. Tri tip was not very flavorful. My hubby had the taquitos, They came with quacamole, a little bit of lettuce, and wait, guess what was on top of them CHEDDARCHEESE! This place really likes its cheddar cheese. Too much for me. I doubt we will be going back.

The most consistent thing about Texas Cattle in Lompoc is the service. Every time I’ve been there over the years the staff has always been very friendly & accommodating. The prices are reasonable & the food is very tasty. My favorite are the burgers & chicken sandwiches. The meat in those sandwiches is always fresh, juicy, & prepared exactly as I ask. They also offer stuffed baked potatoes that are fantastic but you’d be wise to get there early to order those as they are so popular that sometimes the restaurant runs out. One of the few drawbacks is that occasionally they begin cleaning up & shutting down before the posted closing time. Otherwise, it’s one of the places that I really enjoy dining at in Lompoc!
