History

Established in 2000.

— Winemaker/​owner Norm Yost has over thirty years in the wine industry, with experience ranging from Russian River Valley to Willamette Valley, and more recently California Central Coast. in 1998, Yost relocated to Santa Barbara County to work for Foley Estates Winery & Vineyard. At Foley, Yost established business relationships with owners and managers of some of the finest Central Coast vineyards.

Yost was inspired to launch the first vintage of his own handcrafted Flying Goat Cellars Pinot Noirs in 2000. In 2005, he launched his first vintage of Goat Bubbles sparkling wine. Now Yost offers a family of vineyard designated Pinot Noirs and sparkling wines.

Business Owner

Norm Yost has been Owner and Winemaker at Flying Goat Cellars since 2000. He is also on the Board of Directors for the World of Pinot Noir and the Sta. Rita Hills Winegrowers Alliance and an instructor of winemaking at Allan Hancock College. In 2010, Yost completed the University of California, Davis, Wine Executive Program. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Davis.
