Specialties
We provide consultation, design, and installation, as well as maintenance of California native landscapes. This includes residential, commercial, and agricultural/viticultural. We specialize in creating insectary corridors, attracting native pollinators as well as predatory insects. We rip out wasteful lawns and replace the habit with a habitat. Then the hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees do the rest. Picture having a native botanical garden for a yard, almost maintenance free and ¼ of the water as your tropical lawn landscape. Picture the happy feeling of contributing to the southern California ecosystem by putting natives in your yard. Picture the amazement of your neighbors when they realize that southern california native plants aren’t brown sticks with spines, but gorgeous, amazing, powerful, unforgettable plants. Next you can show them your water bill… You only have to water once a month once established and not at all in the winter!
Turn your Habit into a Habitat!
History
Established in 2008.
I have always been a plant fanatic. I lived in Humboldt county, studied the redwood ecosystem along with art. I travelled a lot, and moved to Santa Barbara, where I really started learning about California native plants. I worked for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy for a year, which gave me the opportunity to learn about the plants in their habitats, and eradicate the invasive weeds that are substituting our native ecosystem.
I realized there really weren’t any landscaping businesses focused on Calif. native plants. My dream came true. Apiana was born.
