History

Established in 2014.

State Route 246 connects the cities of Santa Ynez, Solvang, Buellton and Lompoc. This 30 mile stretch of highway cuts through the heart of Santa Barbara’s «Wine Country.» 246 Wine & Brew Tours was formed to showcase the vineyards and wineries found in the Sta. Rita Hills, Santa Ynez Valley along with local breweries and a spirits distillery. The beautiful mountains, charming communities and great wines should be experienced.

Dennis is a father of three adult children and has two wonderful grandchildren who call him «Sarge.» Dennis has lived in Santa Barbara County for 30 years and retired from the Sheriff’s department. He has witnessed and experienced the expansion and growth of Santa Barbara’s wine industry. Recognizing that his golf game wasn’t going to get any better, (no matter how many times a week he played) he decided to combine his other passions, travel and wine into a business venture. 246 Wine & Brew Tours was formed to share his passions. «Good Friends, Good Wines and Good Times.» 246 Wine & Brew Tours goal is to provide a unique, unforgettable wine tasting experience for every guest. Dennis is such a wonderful friend and tour guide! We live in Lompoc, but love to see the area on our days off. Today, we saw so many wineries/​breweries and met some traveling friends. Can’t wait to come again!

246 wine tours is one of the best tours we have been on. Dennis really catered to us and took the time to customize our experience. We went to some fantastic wineries, and even stopped at a distillery, and a brewery. The catered lunch was also delicious. I would highly recommend booking with 246, we are happy we did, and we will be back next year!

Such a great day! There were 7 of us gals and Dennis let us play our own music in the shuttle, picked us up in Santa Barbara and was a very informative and gracious host. He picked a great place for lunch which was included in the price and we just had such a wonderful day. They even accommodated our pregnant friend at no charge for the day! I would highly recommend his services to everyone, big or small group!

What a great way to see the wine country! Dennis was so much fun to talk to and he took amazing care of us. He even snagged us an appointment at Pence Ranch which was a huge highlight! The lunch was delicious and loved hiding out from the sudden afternoon rain storm while having lunch and wine on a covered terrace at Lindcourt. He was so flexible with the schedule but yet kept us on pace. And he even put up (aka joined in) with some crazy girls signing to some tunes. :) Definitely a must if you are visiting the area!

Had such an awesome time on this tour! Dennis was so friendly and made the experience so much fun. Dennis picked us up from the hotel and lunch was provided which was yummy. He lets us customize where to go and even stopped by the Michael Jackson ranch gate which was an added bonus. We would definitely do this your again and recommend anyone else to do it if they’re up here.

Highly recommend 246 wine tours. Dennis was our guide for a day of tastings for a bachelorette party. He was very professional, courteous, prompt and went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed. Absolutely would use him again. Can’t recommend highly enough! I don’t love wine tasting and this was the best experience I have ever had wine tasting, or with a tour company in general.

Charming, informative, funny, ACCOMMODATING, flexible and all around good guy. That is the description of Dennis. We had booked a set tour, but mentioned the Lavender stop and the olive oil stop. Bought products at both places that I had already decided to visit before leaving the area, so great that I didn’t have to make another trip. Dennis was so helpful in getting in and out of the van, took great care that we were fed, cleaned up and ready for the next stop. Great service that we would do again!

Awesome Tour… Dennis is the Man! … Very knowledgable and informative, as well as flexible and friendly. Took us off the beaten path for a great experience and was attentive every step of the way. I recommend this service for a great wine/​brew tour. Dennis was always quick to respond whether by phone or by email. He was very flexible in accommodating our group and our requests. He picked up our sandwiches ahead of time (which was a custom order) and had snacks available to us. We went to the Foxen Canyon area and visited several wineries. It was a great time and Dennis was informative about the wineries. Highly recommended!

Dennis was fantastic — easy going, sweet, funny, flexible and very accommodating! I was there for my bachelorette and he had no qualms about a little bubbly in the van, stopping for random needs, setting up our lunch and making us feel like it was all about what we wanted to do! We got to 5 wineries, including ones we wanted to visit, and others he recommended. Definitely try Sunstone! I would highly recommend the tour!

By far the best wine tour I’ve even been on. Being a local its nice once in awhile to be a tourist. If you choose the tour with sandwiches, they come from the best deli in town. Dennis, the owner and driver was willing to takes us to any winery or even stop at a brewery. If you go, ask to stop at Hilliard Bruce winery. You won’t regret it. Thanks Dennis.

I’ve been on several wine tours up and down the coast, and these guys have been the best by far! It was really fun and relaxed. As other reviewers said, they had perfect timing. By the time we took our first sip, Dennis faded to the background and we were left to enjoy and explore the winery ourselves. Then, as we were almost done with the last glass, he came by to make sure we got our discounts and we were off to the next stop! The day flew by and I would absolutely recommend it if you are in SB wine country. My only gripe is that I wish I could book and select my trip on the website.

Dennis was amazing — he did most of the planning just by asking a few easy questions and took us to some really awesome, not-​your-​everyday type of tasting experiences. We started with a private tour of the ‘by appointment only’ Hillard Bruce winery and got to see the color changing lights in the barrel room for ourselves; then grabbed some grub at the tasty Industrial Eats… continued our exploration of spirits with a distillery tour at Ascendent Sprits and on and on!
It was really nice to be in the ‘passenger’ seat as they say, and let someone else do all the thinking, planning, and driving around — all we had to do was jump in the van and have the perfect day. Thank you Dennis!
Oh, and Dennis has gluten free chips and water on the comfy van which kept this gal satiated in between stops. :)
