Caique Jiu Jitsu Academy

This academy is a great environment to learn and grow. It is a comfortable and safe place with a family vibe. The instructors teach very useful and technical self defense. Very positive place to go that seems to attract committed students who want to learn.

The Best Academy around period!!! I’ve trained under Master Caique for many years and there is no one that compares to him! The academy is very clean and all the classes start/​end on time. Prof. Pedro is awesome with the kids! His classes are done in a fun and safe environment. If you are looking for authentic Helio Gracie JJ or to win some tournaments this is the place for you. I highly recommend Caique JJ! Come in and try a class you won’t regret it!

My son has been at the Academy for over a year now. Not only does he enjoy the training and the camaraderie, his social skills have improved! The teachers stress the importance of respect, both to one’s self and to others. They also teach the importance of self-​care, including diet, exercise, and hygiene. I highly recommend that you stop by and talk to Caique or Pedro about a class. Good for adults too!

I feel very lucky to have started training here over 8 Years ago. Classes available for all levels. Instructors are great and all ways help answer questions I have related to techniques. If you want to train jujitsu I definitely recommend Caique jiu-​jitsu.

All around great Jiu Jitsu academy! We tried a few other places before we found Caique. Clean, friendly, professional and the instructors here are all great. They’re knowledgeable, enthusiastic, dedicated,
and have a genuine desire for their students to learn proper techniques! My son can attest to that, as he eagerly committed to his second year. His awareness, ability to think and react to a dangerous situation has made a positive change in his life. My son has not only learned self defense, but self respect! My son started right before his 5^th birthday and from day one I was impressed with the instructors’ focus on discipline and self control while remaining gentle and considerate towards their young students. My son loves it and we have been very happy here.

I’ve trained at many BJJ schools in the area and have to say Caique’s is the best. I used to train at the big name school nearby but was turned off by their prices and how overcrowded it was. Caique’s feels like a private school where you get better attention from instructors and better supervision when sparring. And they actually teach a more authentic style of BJJ than others because Caique is a direct student of Helio Gracie.

I don’t write many reviews but felt the need to do so for this academy. I finally decided to sign up after my brother was able to convince me after years. This academy is second to none. Thomas is my current instructor and I must say that the knowledge I’ve gained in a few weeks has far exceeded my expectations. He’s patient and truly pays attention to detail and to each and every student that is there to learn. They take their job serious and truly wanna teach the art and science of jiu jitsu. No doubt that I will continue to come here even though I live in Alhambra where there’s closer academies to me. If you’re thinking about joining, just do it. You won’t regret it. This academy is perfect youths and adults. There are the perfect amount of members to give variety of challenge and instructors with 30+ years plus of Gracie experience. The gym is clean and open. The mats are in great condition and the front desk (Julie) is super friendly and helpful!

What a find! My 6 year old has been training here for 2 months. The training is very age appropriate and the trainers are so good with kids. Great staff and the kids are learning a lot.

Amazing kids class! My son has been to two other places in the South Bay, but the instructors here are amazing with the kids. My son has also been in a few tournaments and was able to use the skills he learned from Prof. Pedro that he was able to win 1^st place!
Master Caique also did a women’s course which was so great that I learned so much in that short period of time. All the instructors are fantastic!

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear… I am very grateful to Master Caique and all the instructors at the academy for teaching my kids and myself BJJ.
My kids and myself have been training at Caique’s BJJ academy since 2009.
I originally signed my son up because he was scrawny and I was afraid he would get picked on as he got older. Four years into it, my son has had to use what he learned twice to protect himself. The best part about it is he has learned not only to protect himself but done in a manner of control without hurting the aggressor which has helped him garner respect and self confidence.
Master Caique and his staff keep a clean and well run academy emphasizing self defense and practical techniques that you can utilize in various situations (self defense or just rolling with other BJJ practitioners).
If you’re curious or want to see why this is such a great BJJ academy, come by during their scheduled classes and observe the curriculum and how it is taught (for both adults and kids)!
BTW, if you think you’re too old to learn BJJ, think again. There are students from all walks of life ages 5 up to 60+ at the academy and it is a great environment conducive to learning.

Good place. Took one class here, may be back for more. They mopped the mats in between two back-​to-​back classes, which is pretty rare, and if you’ve done JJ before you’ll appreciated that. The facility is pretty large, you have a lot of space. People were nice. The instruction was laid out in a very intelligent manner. The only thing i’ll note is it says you get a free 30 day trial on their website but that is with the purchase of a $ 110 gi, which they don’t say on the website (or at least I didn’t see it). Also, their monthly fee’s are on the lower side for a jiu-​jitsu gym. Solid gym.

Instructors are friendly, educated and they work well with kids. My 9 yr old girl really enjoys the classes and I like she’s learning new skills.

My son has been training at Caique for almost a year and it has been nothing short of fantastic. The confidence my nine year old has gained is all due to the professional and caring staff at Caique. If you have a child that’s interested in a martial art, head over to Caique. You won’t be disappointed.

I think anyone who trains regularly at a BJJ dojo is going to be a bit generous with their reviews; after all, we’re talking about people who spend several hours a week training, bonding, and fraternizing with people who have a common interest. Chances are if someone was in the least bit unhappy with their dojo, they would take their business elsewhere.
I don’t have any hard and fast statistics, but I would say that BJJ is the fastest growing martial art. It has went from a relatively unknown martial art – to the première self-​defense. The reason I bring this up is because a few years ago, someone may have had to stay at a BJJ dojo because there just weren’t that many of them around. But today I’m noticing new studios popping up like wildflowers. So, people have options these days with their training studios. People who want to stay and train at Caique is a testament to the professionalism of the dojo.
Okay, now on to the nuts and bolts
The Good:
–Particularly friendly atmosphere. If there are people with egos running around, I can’t find them here.
–Several black-​belt instructors with assistants who will assist anyone.
–well designed training program to teach new students the essentials
–several training class options: kids classes, classes dedicated to new students, sparring classes, advanced classes, morning, afternoon and late night classes, gi and no gi classes… and I hear that there may be a new Yoga class in the works.
–reasonably priced, especially in comparison to other dojos
–Free and available parking
–Showers and towels on site
–on site water cooler
–Both in-​house and off-​site location for tournaments
The Bad:
–I’m really racking my brain and its tough for me to come up with any. Perhaps an earlier class for advanced students (in their defense, Professor Caique tells me that he is planning on adding even more class times).
–As a way of encouraging students to come regularly and keep their training sharp, the staff asks all students to sign in on their computer based attendance system. (By the way, this system allows the dojo to send you regular reminders when you aren’t attending classes). Sometimes I forget to sign in and don’t get credit for attending the class… like I said, its hard to come up with anything bad.
Best thing you can do is just come to the studio for one of their free classes to get an idea for yourself.

Here we are a few months later.. .. The granddaughter has been attending classes every Monday and Wednesday at Caique. She loves the classes and has made new friends.
The head teacher, Pedro is so wonderful that I cannot not find the words to describe my admiration for his teaching skills. He can manage a class of 12 – 15 kids. That means:
Giving instruction to the class
Giving warning to kids who are acting out
Keeping track of those warnings and putting kids in time out when needed
Making sure the kids coming for the next class are respectful of the current class
Greeting all the kids by name
Greeting the parents by name
Always being positive and encouraging
How’s the granddaughter doing? Very well. She is more aware of her body and what she is capable of doing.

I’ve trained at a couple different school around the SGV area and there’s reasons why I make my 40 mile trip to this academy. It’s a A+ school!
Why?
— The instruction is top notch and there’s always assistant instructors to make sure you get your technique right.
— All the students there are extremely friendly and so are the instructors.
— The academy is always clean. Showers are also available.
— Two mat areas so that there’s always room to roll.
— Great time schedules.
— The price is extremely cheap as you get training under some of the greatest instructors.
