MicroTrain

I took 3 courses at this MicroTrain, two courses on SharePoint and a PMP preparation class.
The SharePoint classes were a total waste of time and money. They only covered the very basics and never got into what you really needed to know to effectively use SharePoint. Also, the instructor I had did not seem to even care about the students or even teaching. I ended up using another provider, which was far superior in every way.
The PMP class is meant to help you pass the PMP certification test. I will say the instructor was very good and definitely seemed to care about the students learning. However, this five day class will not help you pass the exam. It does provide you a decent foundation to build upon, but that is about it. I failed the test the first time I took it after taking this course. It was not until a fellow student told me about an apparent former student that provides free on-​line training. I started taking that class and it really got into how to pass the exam, which I am happy to say, I just did. In summary, the MicroTrain PMP course is good, but don’t expect to pass the exam after taking it. You need to go into more advanced topics as I found out the hard way. Thank you to the on-​line class and this instructor. I will not mention the person as I do not have his permission, but it was excellent!
