Grew up in a a family that owned a towing and repair business so the job has been a part of me since I was a little kid. I’ve been a part of just about every towing situation imaginable, from pulling semi’s and other large trucks out from under bridges to uprighting tractor trailers to extricating vehicles stuck together in a wreck. I’ve also made every repair possible, along the side of the road, for trucks of every manufacturer. This experience means I’m able to assess what needs to be done quickly and get to work so that you and your vehicle are safe and sound.

I got Johnny’s towing after I called heartbreak towing, surely wished I was told they were sending Johnny’s I would have called someone else since I had already read reviews on Unilocal.I did ask over the phone the price 65 Dow the tow 7 per mile, at worst the shop is 3 miles away. So said driver shows up and tows the car with two women leading the way to the shop Then mister tow guy stated 125. Cash. WTF I was told 65 plus 7 per mile. He told me it was after hours I told him he was a rip off artist and then quoted the price I was given. I also let him KNOW that that would not be the last he’d hear from me. Then suddenly he changed the price to 85, and gave mea receipt that clearly states the tow company is to give you an estimate BEFORE they tow and I pointed that out to him, he didn’t acknowledge my statement perhaps he thought I wouldn’t read it. Darn you Johnny’s towing stop treaty customers like poo, then maybe you’ll get better reviews. I wonder if he wanted a cash payment to pad his pocket.

Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! From accident site to the place I asked them to tow to, 3.6 miles. Googled them and their AD said $ 69 for towing. It’s already stressful enough in this situation, the last thing I need is dishonest and unethical towing service. Whooping $ 200+ for this 3.6 miles tow, 3.6 miles!!! I guess that’s how this one guy afford true religion jeans and his bronze/​baroque Nike air max 90.

Thank You Unilocal viewers. I read most of the postings and see that there is too much of a pattern here. And it seems that this tow service needs to be reported. I’m glad I looked them up before using them cause I would have been another sucker. Although if they ripped me off I would picket their business.

This company is the absolute worst. I needed to get my car jump started in downtown Naperville; called them, said it would take 30 mins. Received another call from their driver a few minutes later confirming my location, I gave him a detailed explanation of where I was. He said he’ll be there in 12 minutes. 30 minutes passed by, nobody shows or calls. I call the main office to ask what’s going on. the lady who answered said they are unable to make it because I was in a garage. Umm, why did I not receive a call notifying me about this instead if making me anxiously wait in my car for an hour? Horrible, horrible communication. They tried to make it look like it was my fault, when I clearly told the driver that I was in a parking garage. I recommend not ever using this company.

I got a flat and called my insurance company for roadside assistance. Although they were super fast in contacting whatever tow company they called, I was told it would be 1 hour, 50 minutes. And so i waited. and then it was 2 hours, and then 2:30 and then almost 3. There was a lot of back and forth calling for updates until I searched for an alternative and came upon Jonny’s. I called to ask for a timeframe and they said 20 minutes. I cancelled my insurance’s service request and Chet, from Jonny’s showed up immediately. He was fast, professional, and really helped me ease my frustration.
Chet said he was in some sort of management capacity; despite the reviews on here, they really helped me when i needed it. I had already missed a half a day of work, and they came through.
Oh, so the tow isn’t $ 65, it was $ 175 for a half mile from Maple and Cermak to Costco on Harlem and 26th st. But I was so frustrated with my DELAYED «roadside assistance» that i did not care anymore at that point.

Horrible horrible horrible. Con artists. I cant say enough bad things. They advertise $ 65 tow service on google. VERY false advertising. 4 mile tow and they get to the destination and say $ 220!!! I told them to bring the car back to where they picked it up because thats not what they advertise. Their quotes for lead time for driver to get there are dishonest too. It took 2 hours fot the guy to show up.
I used another service for the exact same distance and exact same car 2 months ago and they charged $ 96. I went with Johnnys because that other service also took a long time to show up.
Johnnys towing — dishonest, slow, con artists.
Never again. I hope this place goes out of business.

225 bucks to tow me 2 blocks! You people disgust me! Dont get me wrong the driver was courteous enough, but that was very little comfort in light of everything else. They advertise on line starting at 65 dollars for a tow and they will be there within 15 minutes. After an hour they finally show up, hook up the car and drag it across what amounted to a very large parking lot. Drops the car and proceeds to tell me that its $ 225.00! His manager explained that these were industry standard towing charges starting with $ 150.00 just to hook the car up. Then its 5 dollars a mile. Well they must have a very liberal standard on mileage because it was certainly less than ¼ mile.

These guys were totally dishonest about the timeframe it would take to service me. It is clear that their business model involves giving an unrealistic timeframe for service to secure a job, and continuously lying to customers about the status of the service. They take advantage of the fact that most people who are in need of their services are desperate are not armed with many viable towing alternatives.
When I agreed to use them, I was told by the office that they would be there «within the hour», and that the driver would be contacting me shortly for instructions on how to locate my car. After an hour with no call, I called them, and got the same response (they’ll arrive within the hour, driver would contact me shortly). They didn’t call, I called back in an hour, they gave me the same response. I called them AGAIN in an hour, and this time they told me that my driver was about 5 miles away and that he will arrive in about 30 minutes. About 30 minutes later the driver did call me, and he told me that he was actually about 20 miles away (go figure, they lied to me), and he was headed to my location in downtown Chicago in rush hour traffic. About an hour and a half later he finally arrived and towed my vehicle.
If they would have been up-​front about the time frame of the job, it would have been perfectly fine with me, and I wouldn’t have lost an entire weekend day waiting for them in the underground parking garage of doom. Other notes: the truck was really nice, the driver was nice, cost was $ 195 for a tow of 2 miles (seems ridiculously expensive but is probably a fair price in this filthy business). Overall I do not recommend using this company.

THiS COMPANY WILL SCAM YOU. Fox News did a report on these criminals:
— Do not use this company unless you enjoy waiting for hours on end (always under the impression that they’re 20 minutes away) and shelling out hundreds of dollars for no apparent reason (even though they advertise towing at $ 65.) I tried to get reimbursed to some extent but he said the same thing to me as he did to the rest of these reviewers: «submit to insurance for reimbursement.» It’s the same story over and over again. Don’t be a number like I am. My mechanic at Gateway Auto on Division and Hoyne recommended a guy named Joe who owns Falcon Towing and his number is 773.583.2203. I have used him a couple times over the years and he’s great. No hidden fees or scams AND you won’t be insulted or ignored like you will if you go with Jonny’s. I have never felt so powerless or taken advantage of in my life.

I reached out to this company this afternoon for a last minute tow. I stressed that I needed this done by a certain time (1 hour) and that I received a much cheaper quote but since they could meet my time frame, I will use their service. Trusting that this will be handled within an hour, I got distracted and two hours went by only to find out that nobody has showed up. When I contacted the office, they said the driver was stopping for fuel and they could not reach him so I was told that they would call me back. I did not receive a call back.
Reasons for two stars:
Lack of professionalism and communication– When I called they should have had some sort of update or known that the driver had not arrived yet considering it was «port to port» job– They did not answer my calls after they were suppose to «call me back», it just rang and went to a mobile phone.
Since the above occurred, I called West & Sons Towing in Addison and they were able to call someone in from home to do the job. They were less expensive and arrived within the time frame given and communicated when they arrived. If you are looking for a non expensive tow and receive great service, call West & Sons Towing in Addison at 630−627−4466.

I wish that I would have seen these reviews before my son called this company. They did quote him $ 65 and $ 4 per mile. They did not, unfortunately, tell him that it was $ 4 per mile from where they started. They said it was from their shop — when I called to question the price. They also stated that the receipt does reflect Illinois law about this… however, that doesn’t do any good, if they have already towed your vehicle. They also told my son that it was CASH only and he had to go get that. (I will say that they did show and they did tow. That they did. But really seem to be taking advantage of people who don’t know how the towing business works and are not upfront with their charges.) I would suggest another company.

I don’t know where to start. First of all, I didn’t pick them. They were picked by roadside assistant (State Farm). When they called me originally, they told me that they will be there to tow my car in hour and half. After waiting for 2 hours, I call them and the guy at the front desk goes, sir it will take another half hour at least. And guess what i waited at least another hour and half, still no body shows up. By this time I have waited for total 4 hrs and no one was there to tow my car. In the end other tow company showed up before this useless company. PATHETIC service. I will make sure to talk with State Farm agent regarding this bad service from jonnys towing company.

What a rip off. Same thing as the other reviews. The add said $ 65 tow. We called and asked is it $ 65. They said yes. and is there any extra charges? The said no. $ 175 later to bring my car 5 miles. Then they tried to pull the «cash only», when their website said they take credit. When we called to complain, he said they would tow it to their shop and charge us more to get it towed from there. The guy was a jerk. Do not use them!

WORST TOWING COMPANY EVER! THEY ARE NOT NEAR YOU!!!
This company pays to throw it’s name into search results. I sat with a completely dead car, no blinkers even, in rush hour traffic on a major roadway in Elgin. «Jonny’ told me that they were 20 minutes out. 30 Minutes later, his guy was «On McLean». At 45 minutes I found out his driver was still on route 20. Thankfully a cop helped push me off to the side of the road and avoid a major collision while I waited for an ACTUAL 20 minutes from Arties Towing.
DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. LOOK AT THESE REVIEWS!!! Don’t get burned, spend the extra 10 buck for a company that’s gonna show up.
Oh I should add that both the driver and the guy on the phone were insulting and rude when I complained.

Where do I begin with explaining how horrible this entire organization is?
Advertise $ 65 tow, even quote that over the phone. They said they owned a shop that could fix my blown head gasket so I believed them.
Well I get the truck back 3 weeks later and they charged me over $ 200 for the tow and and $ 3000 for the repair. They also didnt tell me till afterwards that they were charging me a fee of $ 7 for every $ 100 for using a credit card!
On my way home, it overheats. Why you ask? Because they didn’t put a clamp on the hose to the waterpump, which in turn almost blew another head gasket. When I brought it back to complain about the missing parts and what not, I was threatened by the no good two-​bit hack of a mechanic!
I pulled over at at Pep Boys where they found that the PCV Valve and hose were not there! So these people WAY OVERCHARGED for shotty work while scamming people on a regular basis for tows. You can check Fox 32 News for the Special report done on this company!
Oh and I brought the itemized bill to 3 other mechanics who all quoted me between $ 1600 — $ 1800. That is HALF of what these scam artists charged me!
Shame on you! Screwing over a hard working single father! SHAME ON YOU!
You will hear from my attorney and I cant wait to see you in court!

These guys are jerks and liars. Don’t believe the $ 65. I called at 7:20 pm was told the fee was $ 85 & someone would be there in 30 min and I would get a call back in 20 minutes from the driver. 45 minutes later.nothing. I call again… and was told I would get a call in 10 minutes from the guy…15 minutes later no call. I call again 1 hour later and I get another lie that someone will call me back. Fine, hang up again. NOW one and a half hour later they need my credit card # before they will come. I say I have cash, they say no. I give # and wait again while 15 more minutes pass and they call back and say the card is declined. BS!!! I am loaded and it was a debit card. What a complete waste of two hours our of my life. I cancelled the card when I got home. Don’t deal with these moe foe’s. GO somewhere else.
