Gregory Castello, DO

Dr. Castello is a knowledgeable and caring physician. While he is more than able to diagnose and treat his patients — he also takes the time to get to know them, and spends time educating on how to become healthier and prevent disease. He takes an holistic approach, and does not just «pill push» like many other doctors that I have had. I consider myself very fortunate to have Dr. Castello as my physician.

I have been going to Dr. Castello for many many years (around 20), way before I had kids and now my whole family sees him. He is a wonderful, caring and old fashioned kind of dr. He is thorough and explains to a Tee about medications and side effects, any health issues, I. e (endometriosis, interstitial cystitis) and knows more than other specialists I have seen. After all my diseases, surgeries and issues, I am grateful to have a knowledgable, caring dr who «works» with my symptoms and has a genuine heart. Thank you Dr. Castello!

Our family has been seeing Castello Wellness for more than ten years and through multiple offices. He is one of the best doctors we have come across. He excels as a family practitioner not only because he’s a jack of all trades, but because he takes the time to explain medical terms in easy-​to-​understand terms. He is great with kids. I love when he draws pictures to help with his explanations. His bedside manner is second-​to-​none.

This office is great! A neighborhood find. I was a little concerned about it being a DO and nurse practitioner (old school thinking that MD is the only way to go) but they are very competent and thorough. I go to Erin who is wonderful and has great availability for me while I’m working. Easily takes lunchtime appointments. The first nurse who sees you is fabulous! So funny and engaging. Overall a great neighborhood family practitioner to find for a new resident to the area like me :)

Dr. Castello is a wonderful physician, he has been my Dr. for over 10 years. Dr. Castello always takes the time to explain things so you understand what’s going on. I would and have recommended him to my family and friends.

I can’t believe the other reviews here. They are older so maybe that has something to do with it. It appears that this Amy, office manager extraordinaire, that everyone seems to be raving about is no longer there. First of all, I want to say that his nurse, Barb, is the most friendly and down-​to-​earth person ever. Unfortunately, she is the exception, not the rule here.
Make sure you take a prescription by paper; don’t trust them to fax it! I waited over an hour at a pharmacy just for them to fax it. They didn’t fax it until about 15 minutes before they closed, and then I waited another hour for the pharmacist to reach Dr. Castello because the script was not filled out completely (it was missing the dosage). Maybe this would have been a simple forgivable mistake, but the pharmacist told me that the office staff she spoke with was going to get the doctor for her to speak to until she overheard someone else instructing the staff member not to get the doctor and to just say he’s unavailable. (Clearly he was still in the office and either he or one of his staff was just running interference, and I don’t get why. :/​) Then the poor pharmacist had to keep trying to call the after hours service and the after hours service had to keep trying to page him. Eventually, she did get through to him, but it was a whole ordeal. It was very frustrating and kind of embarrassing. I felt so guilty that that busy pharmacist’s already very demanding job was being complicated by a few prescriptions for me, and I was appalled by what she said she had overheard. I mean, if a pharmacist has a question about a prescription, it should neither be avoided nor take over an hour to get an answer. Anyway, a little over two and a half hours after leaving the good doc’s office, I had my prescriptions. Uggh.
Still, I wanted to write this off as a mishap and give him the benefit of the doubt, but I have not been treated any better than that poor pharmacist. I had a question that I left with the receptionist: no call back. I had a test done and was told I would be telephoned, within a week, my results; over two weeks later: no phone call. If you have any questions (about a side effect of an Rx, for example) after leaving the office, you are basically screwed. He will not call you back; you will instead play telephone with one or more of the receptionists, who seem to only communicate half of what you say (or he’s ignoring half of the message?).
Bottom line: I don’t know whether it is his staff or him that has been the problem here, but don’t waste your time. I would not recommend to a friend.
