I would like to thank all of the reviewers on Yelp for taking the time to review our salon, I know that your time is valuable. To all the positive reviewers, I would like to thank you once again for your continued support and honesty. Many of our clients have been coming to us for years and I would like to thank you again, without you we would not be where we are today. Many of you are like family to me since I’ve known you for as long as thirteen years. To all of the newer clients to the salon, thank you for giving us the chance to do your hair. Hopefully we will continue to make you happy and keep you as a long time client. If for any reason you are dissatisfied with anything, please let us know. We will do anything in our power to make it right as many of you know.

History

Established in 2005.

Exposed salon has been open for over five years and has been growing steadily as a salon. The meaning of the name Exposed? There are a couple of meanings and reasons why I chose the name. For one, I believe that a person’s hairstyle is a huge form of self-​expression. It identifies you and shows the world who you really are. The other reason for the name is if you have visited the salon you’d see that we are completely visible (exposed) to Main st in Lombard. We have floor to ceiling windows that wrap around the front of the salon

I have been a stylist for over 13 years now and have been trained nationally as a hair designer and colorist. Every stylist that works at Exposed has been trained by me or have been through extensive training classes and has many years experience. For a number of years I was a color educator and trained other stylists with hair color and product knowledge. Because of the high demand of my time at Exposed, it forced me to decline my positon. I truly love the art of designing hair as you would tell the instant you walked into Exposed. There is no other feeling like when a client loves their hair and you have made a huge impact on their life.

I can’t say enough about the place. I called at 9:06am and was taken within the hour. Loren, the receptionist, worked hard to get me in. Luckily for me, Megan was my stylist. I let her do whatever was necessary to fix the horrible cut i had from another salon. She listened to my few guidelines and she was off. It is an awesome cut on my curly hair. As for the place itself, yes, it is small and tight, but between the customers and stylist it felt homey. I will be back.

You NEED to go see Alex at Exposed! This girl knows how to make you feel fabulous!!! I was nervous to try going blonde again after a bad experience at a different salon that left me orange, but Alex restored my faith by flawlessly transitioning me into the blonde I’ve always wanted to be! She is my go to gal for everything from cut and color, to casual and formal hairstyles, and even make up. I love this salon and stylist, and you will to!

I get my hair cut, colored and highlighted by Sara at Exposed Salon and she is so patient and amazing I would highly recommend her!!! She is so patient, shows me color samples and explains what she is going to do every time and I know most stylists do that but she also welcomes your input and really performs miracles!!! I love love love my hair!!!

Made an appointment for a deep conditioning treatment after having bleached my hair myself. Afterwards, they asked if I wanted to blow dry my hair for an extra $ 25. I guess they let their clients sometimes leave with sopping wet hair? I had my stylist blow dry it and had asked her to blow dry my hair inwards. She took a straightener to my already damaged hair and straightened it to the point of burnt, frazzled dryness. Leaving my hair in a worse state than I came in with. Never again.

They can always get me in, even without an appointment. I have never had a bad experience! The salon girls are very sweet and I especially like going there for brows. Their parking lot is small but I have never had a problem getting a space. Give it a try!

If you want a dedicated hair stylist who will work with you to get the hair cut of you dreams go to Exposed Salon. I have been getting my hair cut by Anna for close to a year and I love this hair style. Book an appointment — you are in and out within a short time just looking great with a hair style that will last. Highly recommend!

My stylist is Megan and I think she does a great job. I tried many people when I moved here but wasn’t impressed. I found Exposed Salon on Unilocal.Not conveniently located but worth the drive. Megan gives consistently great haircuts and color. I couldn’t be happier.

I highly recommend this salon for haircuts. I’ve been consistently getting my hair cut by Jenee for about two years now.
I have changed my hairstyle a lot over the years, and Jenee has always been the laid-​back stylist I’ve turned to when wanting to take a bit of a risk.
I walked in with medium length ombré hair and plenty of dead ends that reached just past my shoulders and asked Jenee to chop it off to an extra curly chin-​length bob. A few months later, I had her cut it into a shorter, edgier pixie cut. When I decided to grow my hair out, I went back in for a trim to avoid the dreaded awkward mullet phase that comes when you’re growing out a short cut.
The only reservation might apply to women of color: I have hair that is thin and wavy which most American stylists are trained to cut, but like many brown girls know, it’s pretty difficult to lift color on our extremely dark brown hair — something that the stylists didn’t seem too aware of.
I have gotten pretty used to dying my hair on my own, and have determined that I need some pretty hefty dye or some pre-​bleaching, but I decided I’d at least get burgundy peek a boos in my non-​virgin hair professionally done. I appreciated skipping pre-​bleaching to avoid extra damage to my hair, but my 40 bucks ended up yielding pretty invisible results. I eventually dyed my hair again myself to bring out the color.

Exposed salon, and excellent place for a terrible haircut… they charged me $ 30 for doing the opposite of what I asked for and had me facing a brick wall the entire time so I couldn’t see what was going on. I walked in a little bit on the shaggy side and walked out looking like I was going into basic training. I don’t recommend it unless you want total crap.

I had a cut and highlights with Sara. She is so sweet and personable. However, when I got highlights they came out uneven and very bright! (like platinum blonde!) I was so disappointed with the job that I came back another day to get more toner on my hair to make it blend more… it helped a little bit but it was still not even AT ALL. I still had chunks of random planning blonde highlights. I was embarrassed to put my hair into a ponytail! :(After this visit I decided to try a different salon.

i highly, HIGHLY recommend this salon. I went in today on a whim for a blowdry and style before an important event, Megan did a fantastic job and was so incredibly gentle with my thick, knotty hair. Also, their holiday coffee– phenom.
5⁄5! Will be back for the straightening treatment.

Love the haircut and the price. Much better deal than the twice as expensive Halo for Men that I use to go to downtown. Katelyn gives a really good, quick haircut and she does a fantastic job of remembering how I like it cut.
the only thing I would like is if she would offer to trim my bushy eyebrows instead of making me ask. I’m shy like that.

I got a nice haircut from Katelynn. I like the interior and overall busybody atmosphere here, and the lady at the front desk was crazy sweet and chipper. All in all, I had a good experience.
While I left mostly satisfied, I did have it relayered and texturized about a week after my cut here.
Katelynn was super nice and I liked her a lot, perhaps she felt the need to stay on the «safe side» and not go as layered as I requested. She did a good job, but I most likely will not return to this salon.
Oh, also, they only accept cash tips, no tips on your credit card will be charged! Good to know!

Kaitlyn has been doing my hair since she was in cosmo school. I am extremely picking and tend to go from black to blonde then back to black quite often. I have gone to a variety of salons in the Lombard/​Villa Park Area… and there are a lot to choose from, but I will continue to come to Exposed to see Kaitlyn. She is never afraid to try new things or tell me what she wants to do when I am indecisive. She is super friendly, and fun to chat with. She is good with Short hair cuts which is a hige plus for me, since my hair nevers goes past my shoulders.
You should all try her out!

I was looking for a salon to do my hair and makeup for myself and my wedding party on my wedding day for June 2012. Based on the Unilocal reviews and their professional website I called Exposed Salon. I was excited to know they have packages specifically for bridal parties because I wanted a great experience for myself and bridal party overall.
I had my makeup and hair trial one week prior to the wedding. I can’t remember my hair stylist’s name but she was amazing and so sweet. She was also engaged at the time so she was extremely excited to be helping a fellow bride. I also don’t remember the lady who did my makeup but she did an equally fantastic job. I am very picky about how my makeup is done. Since I have super fair skin, it is hard to get a foundation that is my skin tone and doesn’t make me look orange. She did exactly what I wanted and I felt like a bride!
On the big day, I arrived with my bridal party and there was a slight wait. The salon had a bridal party right before us and was just finishing them all up. I loved how everyone’s hair and makeup turned out, especially my own!
The only thing I wasn’t thrilled about this salon is that it is quite tight on the inside. There are a lot of bodies for a small space and it can almost be claustrophobic. As I was sipping a water while getting my hair done I realized that it was covered in hair spray because the ventilation wasn’t that good either. I noticed my bridesmaids had the same problem. If you select a package in which they offer champagne for your party while getting your hair done, this could be a major downer.
Overall the staff were all super sweet and helpful. Everyone ended up looking gorgeous on the wedding day because of the staff here! I would highly recommend this salon for a bride looking to get hair and makeup for their bridal party.

I’ve been a long time reader but first time reviewing. I went here a year ago because of all the great reviews and was disappointed. I went in to get my hair done for prom so it was a big deal for me to pay $ 60 something for hair. I walk in and was seated and told my stylist (Jenee) would be with me in a few minutes. That’s fine, I don’t minds waiting 5 minutes. Well, I waited and waited. I went up to ask what was taking so long, only to be told it would be a few more minutes, she’s «finishing up with a client.»
I waited half an hour! When I was finally called up or my appointment, I didn’t even receive an apology. I feel like the least they could do was have my hair started by another available stylist or you know, informed that I was going to have to wait half an hour past my scheduled appointment instead of lying and saying she’ll be with me in «just a minute.»
During my appointment my stylist didn’t really converse with me, which is fine. But when I told her that I was now in a rush, she kinda just chastised me and said I should have scheduled better because my hair because I have long and thick hair which requires more time. Um, true, or maybe next time you should be on time for your client?
I didn’t even have time to examine my hair because her tardiness caused me to be in a rush for the rest of my prom prep. Although my hair did last through the whole night, so that’s good.

I had recently moved to the area and have been having a heck of a time finding someone who can cut, not butcher, my coarse, thick, curly locks. Unilocal sent me to Exposed. Thank you!
I went in for highlights, color touch-​up, and a cut with Jasmine. Going in, my hair was a nice auburn with bright red highlights in the crown that had just blended in. I was disappointed in the blending and wanted the same bright, vibrant highlights all over but going «POP! POP!» Jasmine suggested lightning the intended highlighted areas. I am down for whatever so we went that route. When she rinsed out the lightener, we discovered awesome lightened highlights. They served as a very nice contrast to the auburn and the random bright red highlight that was still in there. A little toner and my hair now looks like the color of beautiful autumn leaves. It was unintentional but completely amazing!
Jasmine took some of the weight out and changed the angle of my layering in order to avoid the fun pyramid head look my curls can give. I had gotten a good cut before but when curled I couldn’t shake pyramid head so I am excited about this switch. All in all, a fabulous experience.
Pro-​tip: if you go after 3pm, you can park in the lot right next door otherwise you will be ticketed.

I have curly hair so I know that I am a challenge for most stylists. I have honestly never found someone that actually understood how to work with my hair. I usually leave a salon totally underwhelmed by the results and pull my hair back into a pony tail as soon as I can.
This time was totally different. Unfortunately I was about 15 minutes late for my first appointment with Anna (stupid rush hour), and even though I called ahead to let them know, I was definitely expecting some attitude once I got there. This was definitely not the case. I was greeted with a smile and taken right away to Anna’s chair. We talked about what I wanted to do with my hair and I immediately knew that she was going to be different. We discussed in detail how she was going to cut my curls (rather than chop them off in layers so I look like a christmas tree!) She also recommended a great product, and not in the pushy salesy way.
I can honestly say that this was the first hair cut that I have had in an extremely long time that I absolutely loved! I definitely have found my new stylist and salon!

Now, I have gotten my hair cut and styled at a lot of places. A few family members began going to Exposed because it was so close to where we live. There really are a million places to get your hair cut in the suburbs, but this place had just opened and the decorating of the salon was very cool so I also eventually stopped in. The cuts were always great, but soon I went away to college and just never made it back in.
A few weeks ago I needed a really good hair cut and didn’t feel like driving all the way down to the city to the place I have been going for a few months. So, I knew what to do, call up Exposed and try and get an appointment with Anna. She was booked as I expected, but they took my name and promised to call if they had a cancellation. They did, and the experience was as wonderful as I remembered. Love the cut and can sleep easy knowing that I can always count on Anna at Exposed to give a great precision hair cut!
