I HIGHLY recommend Alex. I try to get a massage 5 times a year and he is honestly the best!!! I fall asleep every time. This is the best asha location and the steam shower is just an added bonus! Book with Alex!

Was hopeful for a good experience here. It’s a decent location with ample parking. The salon has an appealing contemporary vibe. I booked online which is a convenient option.
HOWEVER, I will not be returning. My cut was rushed and the stylist did not even ask if it was to my liking. As it turns out, it is not. One side is visibly longer. The color is not much better. The highlights are like tiger stripes. Bummer. I’ll have to go elsewhere to have it fixed.

I went to Asha a couple of months back but wanted to think about my review before I posted it.
I really wish I could give Asha Five stars! I really do — but I can’t.
Let me give you the reasons why this place is worthy of five stars:
Great phone customer service — when I called to obtain information on the services they provided, the prices and to book my appointment, the receptionist was information, spoke clearly, was courteous and extremely professional.
When I arrived, I was immediately addressed, checked in, offered a beverage and sent the the waiting area which was clean, comfortable and relaxing. It wasn’t long before my masseuse greeted me.
John (I believe his name was John) was very nice as he ushered me to a changing room and showed me how to use the storage locker for my personal items. The changing room was dimly lit, comfortable and clean. There was no dust and the locker was roomy and easy to operate. I changed into a robe and slippers. The robe was high quality — thick, long and lush and the slippers were comfortable.
John came to retrieve me and off we went to the massage room. The room was perfect, it was clean, spacious, the color scheme was extremely relaxing and the room temperature was perfect. The massage table was set up to look like a bed and it was extremely comfortable.
The massage started with him cleaning my feet and letting me select the fragrance he used for my massage. There were three natural essential oil selections to choose from. While he cleaned/​massaged my feet we discussed what kind of massage I wanted and where my high stress areas were on my body.
The massage was good. He massaged my entire body and worked out two knots — one in my shoulder and the other just below that spot on my upper back. I felt that he listed to me and focused on my high tension area as I requested.
I was offered another glass of cucumber water upon my departure.
The next day I received a follow up phone call from an employee just to check on me and ensure I had a great experience. I was not expecting this and I really appreciated this high level of customer service.
Why I can’t give this place 5 stars:
1. Tipping. They should tell you on the phone that you can not tip on your credit card. I went to leave a tip and that was when I was told they don’t accept credit card tips. The hostess/​cashier then directed me to an ATM machine that was about 10 feet behind me — but I have an issue with being charged from the ATM and then from my bank for using other provider ATMs. I had to drive to my nearest bank location, make a withdraw and then come back to provide the tip — what a terrible experience for someone who just received a massage!
2. Massage Experience. Though my masseuse was so very very nice, attentive, professional and good at his job, he was not excellent. This is not a diss to him, he just needs more training, confidence in his craft and more massage experience. I felt that several times he was nervous about touching me (I am used to being massaged I just want you to relieve the pain that my high stress job has caused to my body so I may begin again on Monday) or hesitated trying to determine what to do next, which cause me to focus on him rather than just relaxing and letting my mind drift. I suspect in a year or two he will be worthy of five stars if Asha continues to send him to continuing education classes and he does more massages.

After leaving the previous review, I was never contacted by anyone at the salon, but have visited a few times since for other services. Went in for a bikini wax and given the price, realized what a bargain the spa membership was, so I signed up. Have also gone in for a haircut with Charmi, which was great. But I cannot for the life of me figure out how this salon is training its nail techs. I was not happy the first time I went in for a no-​chip. Figured I’d give it a second shot, but the second time around was even worse. Once again, there was no manicure to my no-​chip manicure, the nail polish turned out dull and faded and looked horribly grown out after just a couple of days. Additionally, my pedicure chipped the next day. Inconveniently for me, I left for vacation the day after I was in. I’ll continue to come in for waxing, haircuts and facials, but will stick to my local nail salon for manis/​pedis from now on.

My spouse is working in Chicago right now. Boo ldr :(Well, I came to visit him last week and treated him and myself to massages here. I was enticed by the coconut massage offering because my sweetheart loves coconut everything.
The online scheduling is so convenient. I’m one of those shy types who doesn’t like talking on the phone.
When we arrived, the receptionists were not very welcoming. I mean, they weren’t rude by any means, just kind of… reserved? No matter, it’s just nice to feel a warm welcome when you arrive to a new place.
We arrived early, because that’s always polite for salon or spa services, and our massage therapists returned the politeness by getting us in promptly. We sipped on cucumber water for a few minutes wearing plush, comfy robes. Then we were whisked away to our respective rooms.
The rooms are great. Very clean, well-​organized, nice lighting, just professional all around. No one wants to start off a massage by walking into a sketchy looking room, right? You won’t have that problem here.
My MT was Alex and he was so nice and welcoming. I can get really anxious about interacting with new people or being in a new environment, but I felt totally at ease. The entire massage was wonderful, very relaxing, just what I needed. I was able to escape my stressful life for a full hour (this is the first time that a massage has lasted the full time as promised).
One thing I would change if I could is that I would have liked the coconut massage to be coconut scented… I guess I got the wrong impression. If I had known that, I would’ve just opted for the regular massage.
My love said that his MT was just as wonderful. I actually briefly met her in passing, and she was very friendly just as my MT was. I think her name was Kari (sp?)
The post-​massage shower is phenomenal. A perfect way to wrap up the massage experience. And I was offered Aveda color shampoo, the very same kind I use at home to protect my vibrant red hair.
I will definitely return to Asha the next time I’m in town.

Recently got a haircut from Charmi who is outstanding!!! This location is much bigger and nicer than the Schaumburg Location. I was greeted with a hot tea and warm rice neck pillow. As always Asha’s hair stylist are wonderful and Charmi met those expectations.
My wife forced me into getting a more professional cut…
I’m the kind of guy that prefers a quick chop shop haircut and I’m not one for being pampered but hey why not… I will definitely be returning!

I went to this salon for a pedicure with my mom and friend. Although they were accommodating by taking all of us at once, I wish they would have allowed us to choose the pedicure we wanted. Instead, they just gave us the basic, without telling us and it was rather boring and unrelaxing. The staff were nice but my problem was that they were unrehearsed (if you will) and young in terms of business, quality and customer service. It was as if they were just doing their job and not exceeding expectations to give the best pedicure ever. I could have gotten a better pedi, better service and a massage chair for $ 30 and add ons would have been offered. I am starting to find this typical of aveda salons unfortunately. They charge alot for mediocre care and service. The chairs are a bench that is shared with other people getting pedicures and my tailbone was sore afterwards. It just wasn’t comfy. The massage was blah, I asked for more firmness, but she just didn’t produce. She was a lovely girl but there wasn’t much spunk behind her service. Then they wouldn’t allow for us to leave a tip on our credit card. They failed to clarify this when making the appointment. My friend left a review and it was taken down because apparently they called her and offered a discount for another visit which is enough for Unilocal to take the review down to maintain the salons business intake. I understand that people need to make a living but if they wanted to make it right they could have done more than that. Bottom line they need to improve their appointments/​scheduling, be up front with services to be offered and improve on the quality of the pedicures.

So I tried them again… and was much happier this time around! From my last review, the manager had contacted me to talk about my review and my experience at Asha. She apologized and offered me a discount to return and try another therapist and/​or another service. This time, I chose to do the Stress Relief massage because it said it was more of a deep-​tissue massage than the Road Warrior massage. I also had a different therapist, Alice.
When I arrived, I again got the sheet that outlined my likes and dislikes as well as any allergies. When I was escorted to the spa area, it was very clean (a turnaround from the last time I was there!) and there weren’t any random cups :) Alice came to get me from the reception area, and really made me feel calm and relaxed. We talked through my massage, and I told her I was looking for a firmer/​deeper massage. She did mention that a deep-​tissue was $ 15 more. She did, however, say that we could see how I liked the pressure that she provide, and if I really wanted the deep-​tissue, she could apply it mid-​massage.
Overall, the massage was great! Alice gave me a combination of deep tissue and pressure points. I also really appreciated that Alice checked on my allergies that I had written on the info sheet. I wrote that I had a peanut allergy, and she double checked with me that I wasn’t allergic to almonds, because the majority of their essential oils’ base was almond oil. I’ve gone to Asha for years, and this is the first I’ve heard of this! I wasn’t allergic, but you’d think that this is something each therapist would mention.
This was a much better experience than my last at Asha. I feel much more confident recommending them after this experience!

I just moved to the west Chicago suburbs from the West coast and found Asha. I like the «Aveda lifestyle» salon feel but I have one major problem with this salon. They charge extra for a blow dry after your hair service! If I went to Hair Masters I would expect that but not at a high end salon where my color cost $ 130, plus $ 30 for Aveda shampoo. How can I even know if the color is right if I leave with wet hair? I only gave 3 stars due to the extra cost for blow drying. Otherwise I would give 5 stars because the highlights were done well.

The esthaticians are amazing. I usually see Ashlee, but she was out for medical reasons for a bit. I’ve seen some others in the interim and couldn’t be happier!

My boss has a massage subscription here and was unable to use it, so she bestowed it upon my very battered and bruised body. I’m in the midst of training for another marathon during the worst winter ever, so my legs basically have the flexibility of a 2×4. Running in all that slush is doing a number on my calves and hamstrings, which I told my massage therapist at the beginning of our session. She worked her magic and I felt great at the end. It was a soothing experience, to say the least.
Also, love the up-​market features of this place, include the essential oil treatment, personalized changing rooms, fluffy bathrobes and keypad locks.
Now to figure out how to get my boss to gift me another session …

A few friends and I came here for manis, massages and haircut.
My massage was great, great ambience, on time etc
My manicure was ehh at best. Def overpriced for the effort and quality.
My friend got her haircut here and they charged her extra bc she had long hair! I’ve never heard of that!!! Def do not recommend coming here for anything other than a massage.

After reading a few reviews, I was a little hesitant about what I would get here but I was going to go anyways since I had a giftcard! I scheduled last minute for a stress-​fix pedicure with a paraffin add on.
Upon arrival, the woman at the front desk was very friendly. I was surprised that she took my coat and that she asked if I wanted water or tea-​and I had the choice of cucumber water which to my surprise wasn’t stale like most places that offer it.
I got there fairly early, so I had a little but of a wait but it wasn’t long after my scheduled time that I was taken to the back for my pedicure. During my wait, I was able to admire all of the beautiful décor inside. From tapestry to wall decals to colorful stone walls, it was very nice.
Also to my surprise, the woman doing my pedicure, (myelle?) I know it started with a m and ended with elle. Anyways, she asked if I wanted a heated neck pad and that was amazing to me. So relaxing!
I picked out a color and quickly put my feet in the water. Right away she was very friendly and not too talkative. Very charismatic and made my stay very enjoyable. We laughed and talked about a wide range of topics. She told me she had never performed the stress-​fix pedicure but I think she did a great job. The massage was great and there was never a time in my treatment that I felt uncomfortable or stressed.
I was surprised that the paraffin treatment wasn’t included in the stress-​fix pedicure but I added it on regardless. I was also surprised when the paraffin was in a bag but maybe that’s the right way and they did it to me the wrong way before! Either way it was so nice, especially when she put the warm slippers around the paraffin bags.
After the painting of my toes, I sadly had to run out of there with the slippers still on! I had to walk and pick up my take out order with those things on– whatever, it was still awesome and nothing was killing my mood.
I’ll have to save up for the next time I decide to come here because I won have a giftcard and it is slightly expensive but it’s worth it. You get what you pay for.
Side note– I was also sad to find out they don’t do yoga classes anymore! The first time I went there that’s what I did and it was lovely.
Seems like Asha is just a lovely place to be!

I had a pedicure here, and it was fine. The thing that really irk’d me was that they don’t allow gratuity added and paid for with credit cards; tips can only be paid for with cash or a separate check made payable to «cash.» Tacky people… really tacky.

The manicure and pedicure here were awesome by Andrea. However, my hair do for my sisters wedding was a disaster. Seriously, youd think that if someone has some training they can sort of give you what you are looking for!!! My stylist was Martie, although very nice. She started off by taking me almost half hour late because she wanted to help out another customer who missed her appointment before me because «she got lost in the parking lot». So she delays me half hour to help our another customer! What kind of logic is that???
Next I asked some volume at the crown of my head. There was none! As I view the pictures and sent to my other sister in Cali, the first comment was «your hair is so flat». Seriously with all the hair spary I had to inhale you’d think she would be able to give me some volume. My hair was so flat for the event. Infact I had to comb it since it looked like I just got out of bed. Sorry Martie, very nice person, but seriously did not give me what I wanted for my hair. I wanted a blow out and she claimed it wont hold till the event, however, what she did, did not hold at all. My hair looked horrible at the event, and it wasnt fun since I was the brides sister.

I’ve been going here since the grand opening and was so crushed to hear my favorite stylist (Diana) has left. It was a complete oversight on my part that I haven’t left a review before. Diana did an amazing job each and every time. Although I am not sure if I will return to Asha in the future, a sincere thank you to Diana is long overdue.

I have been looking for a long time for a hair stylist like I had when I lived in the city where I could just go in, say «Do what you want.» and come out looking fantastic and being ABSOLUTELY thrilled with my hair and I have found her! Jaclyn is a magician that took my jacked up, previously mistakenly mulleted by another hair butcher and turned it into pretty. I have been going to her for just under a year now and have gotten back that so excited that I look fab feeling that I love to have when I am leaving a salon.
I have also had my hair colored by Brittany, who did a great job, as well. I have gotten a manicure from Ana which was meh (and the reason for the lack of a fifth star). She was a total chatterbox about her personal life and custody battle (I am sorry about that, but this is not turning out to be the relaxing experience I am paying for) and forgot that I had requested a hydrating mani for my super dry hands and did a regular one, instead. I will request someone else if I ever get a mani form there again.
Also would like to mention that although I have not used it, they have childcare during your appointment if you request in advance :)

I came to Asha for a hydrating manicure and pedicure. For the price, I cannot say that I was all that impressed with the services I received. My experience wasn’t horrible, just not something I’d be too quick to return to.
For both the pedicure and manicure, there was very little massage involved, so the experience was not as relaxing as I would have hoped. My manicure chipped in 4 days, even though I put topcoat over the polish on day 2. Also, the side of my left big toe has been pretty sore. All I could figure is that it was over buffed.
I love the look of the inside of this place. It’s so clean and sleek. I was hoping for a much better experience since this spa is within walking distance of my house, and I’ve been searching for a location to get my nails done at regularly. My search continues!

I don’t know how to compare Asha with any other salon because I scheduled my 60 minute massage this morning and got in at noon,
and had the most relaxing experience!
I had a 85 dollar gift card which is exactly how much the massage cost. I got a lemon flavored water in greeting and after less than a minute was directed into the «spa area.» It was beautiful. Peaceful, dark, and a nature type of ambiance. I got changed into a robe with slippers and locked my belongings up and proceeded to the waiting room. Less than a minute later I was introduced to Autumn, she was quiet and sweet. The massage was great! I was sooo relaxed and felt comfortable the whole time! I felt like a whole new person at the end.

I’ve been coming on and off for a variety of services (hair color, hair conditioning, scalp treatment, blowout, facial) since they opened.
The service quality varies between visits on all fronts: from the phone, front desk, and esthetician/​stylist. The esthetician services on the spa side seem a little more consistent than on the hair/​nails side.
Meanwhile hair services have varied from impassive to impatient, and am struggling to find hair service here that will keep me as a returning customer. Three of the times I’ve come for hair appointments (2 scalp treatments and 1 blowout) there was a scramble to find a stylist to help me several minutes after my appointment time went by. Last night I arrived 10 minutes early and had to wait 20 minutes after my appointment before a stylist came over – profusely apologetic of course.
The product line and services menu are spectacular, and if you sign up for their email newsletters you will undoubtedly enjoy amazing deals and heads up on special events.
I mostly come here now to purchase refills on my Aveda standby products, but will make a habit of coming back for the esthetician I found who I like very much.
They cannot add gratuity to the credit card/​debit card payments, so bring extra cash.
This place is clean, sleek, well appointed, comfortable. Just wish the service level was consistent from one visit to the next.
