Never have been disappointed with A&W KFC, and today will be the first time. They ran out of utensils, they ran out of potato wedges, and the food was okay. They usually have ketchup dispensers for people who eat at the location, but only had ketchup packets this time. Overall a bad experience.

I was here about a week ago and this location no longer has the A & W Menu. It was a KFC/A&W. They only have a KFC menu. No, no more cheese curds, papa burgers or root beer floats. waaahhhh :-(

I mean, it is KFC& A&W so the expectations are that of fast food. Nothing more. However, the service is extraordinary at this location. They are beyond friendly and very quick. If I have to stop for fast food in that area, I go out of my way to go here because of the service.

In Chicagoland there are a few restaurant chains that are abundant in other regions in the country and scarce in the city of wind. A&W All American Grill is one of those chains, and has very limited representation in the area. This particular A&W is attached to a KFC to create a combined eatery with a wide variety of options. Since A&Ws aren’t around much of the Chicago area, I personally wasn’t too familiar with the menu and their offerings. They serve burgers, hot dogs, fries, and various ice cream dishes. In visiting this A&W I decided to try the hot dog. After placing my order I was asked what I wanted on my hot dog. They only had a limited variety of toppings, so I went with a fairly basic hot dog with tomato, pickles, onions, and mustard. Not exactly a Chicago style hot dog, but fairly basic. The bun was soft and not dry. The tomato slice was actually fairly nicely sliced and not too wet or sloppy. The pickles used were rather sour hamburger pickles and the mustard was applied decently. The actual sausage itself used here wasn’t of the usual standard found in a hot dog in Chicagoland but was far from inedible. It was a skinless frank with a very salty taste, this was about on par with your average grocery store brand hot dog(Oscar Meyer or Ball park). The quality of the sausage itself was really what brought this hot dog down. While I can’t say this is a good hot dog, and I’m only giving it one star I will say this. Of the major chain fast food joint hot dogs I’ve reviewed which are Dairy Queen, Sonic, Steak N Shake, and Five Guys this is the best. That may not be much consolation if you happen to buy and eat one, but at only $ 1.60 the price wasn’t bad and because of the simple nature of the hot dog it wasn’t screwed up nearly as badly as most other chains do. While the sausage itself was lousy, I’ve definitely had worse. This is a bad hot dog, but better than most other big(big as in national or multi-regional) chains.
