Loma Linda Academy Children’s Center

Our son is there for one year now —
The good thing:
wonderful helpful staff and teacher — great play space — classrooms setup great
Bad:
disappointed with the administration’s lack of organization, leadership, and lack of communication
The food for the kids are not great — they stop serving lunch in the summer for 4 weeks.

I only see a negative review. At first I was nervous to send my children to daycare, but with my children at the Loma Linda Children’s center for the past 3 years it has been wonderful. The teachers are very caring. They have a wonderful helpful staff and Julie is a wonderful director. My daughter has learned so much and she attends twice a week. My son transitioned to Kindergarten wonderfully and has been many times ahead of his classmates.

My son attends the Loma Linda Children’s Center. Since the only other review was left, there has been a change in Directors. Julie is the current Director and is wonderful. My son was never in daycare before attending the Children’s Center, so I was a bit worried at first. He has done excellent since day 1. He loves all of the teachers and they love him too. I have never had an issue with communication. He bumped his head one time on a table and an accident report was filled out and given to me stating exactly what happened and what was done after… I believe they put a note that they «applied ice and gave him lots of TLC». They have a form that the parent can put the child’s name on each morning and the teacher fills it out with how the child did that day as well as any other important information and returns it to the parent in the child’s lunch bag or cubby each day. For children who are potty training, they help the children with it, which is great! All of the teachers know my son by name, even the ones that are not working with him directly each day. My son learns so much being here and is excited to go every day. It makes it so much easier to go to work knowing that he is happy and well taken care of. I would highly recommend this place to anyone with kids.

I put my son at the LLCC because I was first impressed with the safety precautions they had set in place to pick up and drop your child off. I was also initially impressed with the way their classrooms were set up (though very small in size). I also placed him there because it would give my son priority placement a the Loma Linda Academy once he started Kindergarten. However, I was extremely disappointed with the administration’s lack of organization, leadership, and lack of communication. They were always late with their billing, or sending receipts for payment. You received very little, if any, feedback on your child’s progress.
They failed to communicate serious issues regarding my son’s progress (which is too lengthy of a story to tell, all of which include the Director lying to me and hanging up on me three times during a phone conversation), which led my son to be held back one entire year because the Loma Linda Academy felt he was «not ready» to stay in his kindergarten class. So I had to pull him out and find a Pre-​K class that would get him ready.) All the events we attended were extremely disorganized. The Director (Stella Leonard) demonstrated a pattern of unethical, unprofessional and RETALIATIVE behavior, that should not be characteristic of a Christian educator who is in charge of our children and who is representing an establishment in such a prestigious community such as Loma Linda. Though the teachers were nice, they too failed to communicate my son’s lack of progress due to poor leadership. Very disappointing and very costly experience!
UPDATE: I placed my son at Tournament Hills Elementary (for Kinder and now First grade) in the Beaumont School District, where he received amazing evaluations by a panel of speech pathologist, occupational therapist and child psychologist who provided him with excellent speech, occupational, and physical therapy focusing on gross and fine motor refinement. He is now up to par with the other kids, and all the minor delays he had shown before have been almost resolved. He is further ahead now than most of the kids in his class (per his teacher) and is doing well. No thanks to the lack of concern or care he received at the Loma Linda institutions.
