First Settlement Physical Therapy (FSPT) is a family owned private practice that strives to treat its employees and patients as part of that family. We have been in business 15 years and have grown into 15 clinics throughout the Mid-​Ohio Valley.

FSPT’s first clinic was founded in Marietta, OH in 1999. The company name originates from Marietta being the Northwest Territory’s first settlement so we thought First Settlement Physical Therapy would be quite fitting!

FSPT is owned by Hema Hargus. Her son, Simon Hargus; her husband, Phil Hargus; and her daughter in-​law, Lisa Hargus, along with an extremely well-​trained staff, help run FSPT and make it the Mid-​Ohio Valley’s most trusted physical therapy provider.

Hema Hargus is the only certified hand therapist in the area. She can also treat people with Parkinson’s Disease, CVA (Stroke Patients), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), hip and knee replacements, low back pain, foot and ankle pain, and shoulder pain.

She also specializes in Brace Fitting, Aquatic Therapy, Fall Prevention, Occupational Health, Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE), Hardening/​Work Reconditioning, Vestibular Therapy, and Sports Rehab.
