Jenny’s Jerky was founded in the Bay Area of Northern California in 2011 by Jenny Ma and Tyrone Tan. Over many long road trips down Hwy 101 from San Francisco to Los Angeles, Jenny and her family tasted every jerky on the market only to realize, bite after bite, that none satisfied their taste buds. Jenny set a challenge for herself to create a jerky that was better than anything available in the marketplace. It took about three years of combining different seasoning ingredients before she found a recipe that was just right. As a result, Jenny’s Jerky was established. It’s become a family favorite and its popularity is spreading throughout the continental United States.
In July 2014, Daniel Villanueva and Keith Lindgren seized the opportunity to acquire Jenny’s Jerky. Daniel and Keith, longtime coworkers and friends, travel throughout California working together in the environmental field, and like Jenny and her family, often sample and search for gourmet jerkies.
