I started out as an avid booster for this place, but finally – after multiple tries – that changed. They have always had a problem with actually having a reasonable selection, but if you got there really, really early(say 5 – 6AM) that wasn’t an issue. I had always thought that the donuts were good and flavorful. However, I purchased some apple fritters this morning, and they were totally devoid of apples or even a hint of apple flavor – they were just a large, flat sugary waste of calories. They keep shortening their hours. It used to be that they were open until 3PM; now it’s 1PM(not that it’s posted anywhere – wouldn’t want to commit to anything). I arrived at 10AM and there was a really sparse selection(it’s always like that). I asked if there would be more later, but no, they were done for the day. I wouldn’t want to be the hapless customer who made a special trip there at 11AM. Good donuts(except for the fritters that I got), but they operate totally at their own convenience – not the customers’. It seems to be just a hobby for them. Unpredictable selection and hours makes this place not worth a special(usually wasted) trip. I’ve given up on them. They’re nice people, and they can make good donuts – they just don’t seem to want to.

Donuts are fantastic. Reminds me of a donut place from my hometown as a kid. Everything tastes fresh and the owners are very friendly.

I initially gave 4 stars and rode it out to see how things would go. I’m happy to up it to 5 stars. I usually base doughnuts on the classic old fashioned style and here it’s excellent– nice crisp(not burnt) exterior and soft(not soggy) interior that isn’t too dense or lacking substance. Not too sweet, just perfect. I’m really into cake style doughnuts in general and this place does not disappoint. Of course I like the classic plain cakes but the sour cream, cherry, blueberry are favorites too. Now the other types of doughnuts are great too and while I’m not typically into filled doughnuts I’ve been known to go for them on occasion. I must admit I’m not a fan of Boston crème but the ones here are excellent. And the fritters: phenomenal. But plan on sharing as they’re enormous. Now there have been some new flavors Fridays and weekends. I’ve fallen hard for the key lime. The caramel apple is outstanding(caramel topping is perfectly done). And pumpkin cake? My family knows not to get between me and that pumpkin or they risk losing fingers. There’s a pumpkin filled as well I’ve yet to try but it looks like a slice of pumpkin pie and a doughnut had a baby. I hear there are going to be some more new flavors as well so check it out. Breakfast sandwiches are good and coffee good too. Prices lower than most places and we all know the fast food places in town on their best day can’t come close to the small businesses(yet those chains are always packed, can’t understand it).

The donuts are fantastic. Highly recommend swinging by to grab one or a dozen. Only downside was the coffee; was hoping for a better cup but it’s a donut shop not a coffee house ;)

I started working in this area and this place is making me fat. The staff there is so friendly. Their donuts? DELICIOUS. Fresh. You have to get their early because I got there at 8:00 on a weekday and if you see my photo, a lot were gone… But still a good variety. I usually go there to get an egg sandwich that they offer in either a bagel, croissant, or english muffin. It’d be too easy to drive over to McDonald’s or Dunkin’ Donuts to get my fix but this place does it so much better. The smell of donuts while waiting on your sandwich is VERY tempting. They offer cake donuts, different types of jelly filled, topped, and plain donuts. They’re fried and not baked. I always judge a doughnut place by how their plain glazed is and theirs are delicious. … I’m glad this place isn’t walking distance from me…

Went at 6AM on donut day, guys are polite and donuts are fresh and affordable. So much better than Dunkin, good solid cake donuts but not heavy. I had long john, glazed and frosted. All good not too heavy with the icing but slightly more than just glaze. Overall just plain good local donuts.

Arrived at 11:45am to find literally 7 donuts in the case and no more being made. The hours on Unilocal say they’re open til 5pm but the window hours have been changed to 3pm. Total let down.

Sadly, my quest for the perfect south suburban donut continues. Got here around 9:30am on a Saturday morning, and I was sad to see that most of the popular items, like the maple frosted, were already gone. Ordered a ½ dozen, including red velvet, chocolate frosted, old fashioned, and a twist. The red velvet and old fashioned had the overwhelming flavor of grease. The other donuts were unimpressive as well. The assumed owner working behind the counter didn’t speak english and had her daughter do most of the talking. Her daughter was nice, though. I’m really surprised about this place based on the Unilocal reviews. I don’t plan on going here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Apple fritters are best in Chicago. Hands down, the best. This is a must try visit if you are in the South suburbs.

Awesome donuts and they are super friendly! Stopped in finally after passing it on the way to drop my grandson off at babysitter. Totally loved that they had my favorite strawberry frosted. Delicious and cheaper than Dunkin.

Great homemade donuts! I’ve never had a bad one yet. The apple cinnamon are the family favorite, but please don’t order them so they don’t run out if I am on my way! :) red velvet, chocolate and maple bacon are so good too!

Lane Bryant. That’s where I’ll be shopping if I keep coming in here! Roll –N– donuts is fabulous people. I really wish this donut shop would’ve had a drive thru because lazy people tend to pass this place up and go to Dunkin donuts when Roll –N– smashes them. I never can understand why on earth you’d want a made in a warehouse donut from Dunkin when you can get a freshly made on site donut here?! The one thing I wish Roll –N– donut would do is go a step further and come up with different flavors. The donuts they have are good, but they are pretty much the standard flavors you’d see at pretty much any donut shop. I do really like the blueberry & apricot filled!(Yum.)I’d like to see them do something like key lime or something out of the ordinary. They do have a red velvet that is fabulous though. I took a bite while I was sitting in my car, and I could’ve put my car in drive and ran it right through that donut shop it was so good! #Diabetes!!! :-)

Every thing is fresh baked same day they also have yesterday donuts for half. I got myself a everything bagel with plane cc. Costumer service was at his and hers greatest The place is a bit hidden due to the street curving in so if your not paying attention you’ll probably pass right by I did few times. I hope this place last. We need more variety off restaurants and bakery here in lockport.

Hands down the best thing to ever happen to Lockport. Let’s keep them in business forever! The staff is always so nice and welcoming and their donuts never disappoint; always fresh and delicious! And if you’re ever looking for an iced coffee that’s actually mixed and flavored to perfection, unlike DD, Roll N Donuts is the place to go! :D

I read all these great reviews of a new donut place in Lockport «What? Why doesn’t the Boyfriend live in Lockport anymore?» Then I realized he still works down there… «Stupid Elizabeth, you don’t want a donut that has been sitting in the car all day long and you don’t eat donuts for dinner!» Then on a very happy Thursday, he told me he was going to be playing golf on Sunday morning with his BFF at Lockport Golf Place [name withheld for privacy reasons or because i forgot] And so I asked for some donuts. Boyfriend went early, before the golfing. He said they were all out of the cake with chocolate frosting but if he had time to wait, he could have got some. That alone is impressive to me. Some donut shops are not always making new stuff. They were and he was there fairly early on a Sunday. He brought me home 6 donuts and brought 2 apple fritters to his mom. He said the apple fritters were good. Good in his mind means better than 7 – 11 but not as good as Dunk Donuts in Melrose Park. I take into consideration that the donuts sat in the hot car for about 6 hours before he brought the bag to me. The red velvet was awesome! I really enjoyed it. It hadn’t gotten dried out or anything. The chocolate cake with chocolate frosting had dried a little in some of the thinner spots but it was still delicious. I would definitely go back. I would be more likely to go back on a day where we are headed to visit my folks or his and want to nosh on some donuts while we ride in the car. :)

Okay, so this building has been a great many places. Bozo hotdogs, Billy’s char house, old 66, and now«Roll N Donut. The grand opening of the place seemed very promising. A lot of people. So much in fact, they ran out of all the good donuts pretty quickly lol. I went now for the last three days since the opening and I have not been disappointed. I do not drink coffee so I can not comment on the coffee. I have had the bacon bagel(minus cheese and egg), ham bagel(minus cheese and egg) and some donuts. The bacon they use is the typical pre cooked bacon most places such as Dunkin uses. I found the bagel absolutely fresh and soft unlike Dunkin. The ham they use is a polish ham and I found it quite tasty. The donuts are soft and fresh. I love how they make the donuts there at the shop. I had a strawberry filled frosted donut and it was so delicious and plenty of filling. I had the vanilla sprinkle donuts as well as the cherry cake donut. The donuts are fantastic. They also have delicious cinnamon rolls. They serve fresh hot popcorn if you’d like too. The owners are very friendly and I really hope this place lasts as the service and food are both far above Dunkin. Besides, lockport needs a place besides speedway or Dunkin to pick up a donut. I hear a lot of people say they grab them from speedway. Stop all that and get those fresh donuts here. They are fantastic.
