I hate cars. Loathe them. They are greasy, smelly beasts that break down at the worst of times. I am a mechanic’s dream because I know nothing about cars so they can tell me ANYTHING. I’ll just sob and haul out my checkbook.
When I first moved to the Austin area, I panicked the first time my 99 vehicle pulled a «no go» on me. I was stuck. Immediately I called a friend who told me to calm down. They came out to get me and told me I needed to have my car towed to G&E. So I did.
I’ve had to take my car in (or have it towed in) more than once. Every time, Guy has treated me with respect and the right amount of Texas-​flavored chivalry. He and his employees are amazing.
When Guy tells me the bottom line, I know that is the bottom line. Period. It won’t be a penny over what he quotes. He doesn’t «find» extra things to fix. In fact, he’s told me that fixing one thing would be expensive and could be ignored (back door not opening).
I will go to G&E as long as they are there. Top-​notch mechanics are so hard to find. I trust G&E to get me back on the road without making me contemplate robbing a bank.
So, if your car needs a helping hand, considering trekking out to Lockhart. It’s worth every extra mile.
