Dr Tinto Window Tinting and Auto Accessories

I wouldn’t recommend Dr. Tinto. They were unprofessional and tried to up sell me for things I didn’t really need. But the main reason for the low rating is the window tint job was terrible. There are bubbles everywhere and even worse, they must not even have cleaned the glass first. There are hairs and other tiny items trapped behind the tint film. I have had all my cars tinted for years by an independent guy who just retired, so I brought my car here. What a mistake. I would definitely check out other places first and I would never bring a car back to Dr. Tinto.

A cpl of weeks ago I took my daughters car there. I was told $ 99.00 would take care of it inside and out. Not a new car by a long shot, they had corvettes and challengers. Fancy cars. I didn’t expect to get brand new looking carpet and seats. But I did expect a decent job. When they called a cpl hrs later said the car was done come pick it up. Wife and I got there looked over the car. Carpet and seats still wet. Dash needed to get wiped down, cup holders never touched. Went inside found the kid that did it he came out and wife showed him what he missed, that’s when he told us that he was new and never did this before. After sitting in the waiting room for a ½ hr and the kid going out twice to clean. «What no one goes out and checks the work»??? So a few apologies late I go to pay, they tell me it’s going to around $ 120.00. I am like ummm other guy said $ 99.00. He tells me tax. I understand then he tells me shop fee rag disposal hazard waist crap air I breath in the waiting room fee!!! I tell him that’s bullshit and will give him $ 105.00. Tell him that they should say something in the beginning. It’s like the $ 17.00 oil Change that. Cost you &40.00.
So on the way home I see over spray on bottom of the windshield from spray. Cleaners and the rear view mirrors. Where covered also. So no quality control. Bottom line don’t let Dr RECTAL detail your car. PS Did I mention I wasn’t happy?

I have had 1 full car and 2 front trucks done here and would recommend them highly!!! The counter guy mite be a little talkative, but the work is done professional. They have a good selection, and knowledgeable about they’re products.

Great prices and fast to finish the work. I dropped my car off on a Friday to be worked on Saturday morning and it was fixed that Friday before they even closed. Al was very helpful on the phone when I called to get prices. Al helped me pick what starter was best for my car and for the money. Thanks Dr. Tinto and Al for a job well done.

So I got a little Groupon for a remote starter, and ended up paying just a little less than it costs to get the full-​price product. I called to make the appointment and the person I talked to did not tell me that it would take 2 – 2.5 hours nor did he tell me that my car required the $ 70 add-​on. Other than that, the experience was great. The guy that got me going was super friendly and upset with whomever I talked to on the phone. He really was sorry for the guy’s lack of information. Thanks! Then the owner was also very nice, he was chatting with me during the hour I hung out waiting (I took off for an hour too), and then gave me some tips on how to get some cheap sports tickets! Thanks! I also mentioned that one of my washer fluid tubes was clogged and the guy actually fixed it!!! Too awesome. So far I haven’t been able to use the remote starter b/​c it hasn’t been that cold. I also have a little trouble getting the stupid thing to turn on. I practiced a couple times, and still can’t seem to get it right. :(Hopefully I’ll get a little better at the sweet spot of the remote prior to it getting cold. Overall happy w/​the service, not 100% yet on the product, but will go back in if I have any issues. That’s what warranties are for!

The service was surprisingly top notch in my opinion, all of the employees are very educated in this field and know exactly what to do on each car. You can tell they all have a passion for this industry. They are one of the best available if not the best, no wonder why they always are super busy but they are very coordinated with there time and that’s what I appreciate the most. They walk the walk so listen to them talk the talk. Super satisfied, recommended to anyone.

I was a bit nervous setting up appointment with Dr. Tinto due to some not-​so-​nice reviews I’ve read on Unilocal!and Google review. When I called to set up an appt., someone really professional (Al? I think) answered my call, setting up time/​date that worked for me.
He also asked me what kind of vehicle I have, informing me of $ 30 extra charge for 2 small triangle windows (as the coupon I had covered 5 total windows). I found this very helpful & professional gesture, to know this in advance, rather than finding it out when you get to his shop. I personally think a surprise at the shop is never really good. It’s always good to have alignment of expectations between the shop and customer.
Arriving at the shop, I was politely welcomed by Nick (one of shop owner) and his son. Nice :-) At this moment my nervousness was finally gone. Nick was very thorough explaining the process of how Dr. Tinto does window tint. Rather than cutting film right at a vehicle, Dr. Tinto has this computerized plotter to cut equipment that pre-​cuts the window film vehicle specific. The pre-​cut films are then applied to temporary glass wall to pre-​shrunk and adjusted by professional applicator tech. I was frankly surprised and impressed by this. In a past I had a installer cut film on the vehicle’s body panel, damaging painted surface. (actually rusted later that season.)
I’m looking at my car done by Jake and the job looks Fantastic! There are few water bubbles but they should dry out in few days. Dr. Tinto tells me that they try to do a right thing if the film don’t turn out right. I’m glad I’ve decided to give Dr. Tinto a try. I actually had great experience at the shop, guys were really friendly and great. And didn’t have any problems mentioned in other reviews.
Nick showed me you can actually «paint» your car with removable plastic liquid coating. Hmmm, maybe I’ll give this a try?!

Sent my car there to have my windows and windshield tinted. I was called saying my car was ready, to arrive to my windshield never being touched. The man at the counter assured me that they’d jump right on it to fix the issue and it would take 30 – 45 mins. I get it we all make mistakes so I waited.
Two hours later the counter man left and this other guy was there so I asked him what’s the deal with my car it was still sitting out there. He told me that I had other people ahead of me… My car was the first one there that morning and I was already there for two hours He also used an excuse of there was a ton of dust on my inside windshield. I had my car for a week. After they decided to remember I was there my car was finished to see the tint hanging down on the top of the windshield. I had enough and left and brought it back a week later which a man there very politely fixed it.
A month or two later the windshield began to pinhole so I took it back to see if there was a factory warranty or anything to fix it. I arrived to be ignored by the counter man (the same one who told me before I had people in front of me.) Turns out that making phone calls is more important than helping the people in front of you. He eventually looked at it to claim «dust» got under my tint and caused it and then told me I’d have to pay to have it done again claiming he would «Hook me up.» At this point I had enough and told him I’ll think about it.
I sent my previous car to them when they first opened and they did a fantastic job. I don’t know what happened since then, but the quality has dropped. They have a few great guys there who I’ve talked to before, but that kid behind the counter was rude and extremely unhelpful. All he cared about was making a sale. I will take my car elsewhere to have my windshield fixed, and if I have to pay to have it redone, I’d rather pay a place that won’t mess up.
I will not return to this place and I will not suggest anyone to them.

I was given a Groupon certificate ($ 74 regular $ 149) for a complete interior and exterior car detailing.
I dropped my car off at 11 AM and, when asked how long it would take, I was told there is one car ahead of me and it would be ready before 6 PM. It was ready by 5 PM. When I got there I was told I would have to pay a $ 25 additional fee for either pet hair or «extra filth»…and for me to choose which. This pet hair fee sounded somewhat reasonable so I agreed.
When I picked up the car I was not very impressed with the «detailing» job. The car was certainly cleaner and looked good overall for a car cleaning job, per se, but the details that were certainly overlooked. On the exterior, all of the rims were still dirty in places, there were tar spots on the car that I cleaned off when I got home. There was carbonaceous deposits near the exhaust that hadn’t been cleaned and the windows were still dirty near the top. The interior had spots of cleaning solution on the vinyl dashboard and console and the area near the rear window was still full of dog hair. Needless to say, I had to spend an hour finishing the job when I got home.
This is the first time I have ever had someone «detail» my car, so I don’t have anything to compare to other than when I do it myself. Next time I will try someone else or do it myself.

I got a great deal on Groupon for a full tint so I didn’t mind paying the extra $ 30. for my small side rear windows. I had a 9am appointment and they took my car right back when I got there. They were done in about a hour. The staff was cool and informative about other services. HOWEVER, I did have two small bubbles in my rear windows. I took the car back the following week and my experience was not as pleasant. My two rear windows ended up needing to be retinted and the wait was two hours. No Bueno!

I used the groupon deal for both window tinting and remote start here. At first, I thought what a great deal, but when I got there I found out I had to pay $ 135 extra for random fees. I paid anyways and when I got my car back I was rather pleased
A few weeks later, I rolled down my front passenger window, and the tint peeled off. Keep in mind they told me not to roll down my windows for three days, I waited 2 weeks and this still happened. Also, the remote start doesn’t work half the time or I have to click it way more than what is said. I am currently here now waiting for my window to be fixed; they said it would only take an hour, and it has been an hour and a half and they haven’t even pulled my car into the garage. This place is horrible. Horrible service, horrible staff. I would’ve rather paid several hundred more at a different place if I would’ve known how bad this place is.
All in all, it seems good at first, but it is done poorly and service is bad. Don’t go here.

Got my windows tinted here after purchasing the Groupon. There was an extra charge for the type of tint I wanted which wasn’t explained until I got there but the service was otherwise pretty quick and well done. I’m happy with the end result.

I noticed a Groupon for Dr. Tinto for car window tinting. After researching the business on Google and Unilocal,I decided their reputation was good enough that I could trust them with my car. I called more than a week in advance to make an appointment for Saturday, July 17^th.
I dropped my car off at 11am and asked for a time estimate. The guy said three hours. I called around 2:15 and he said two of their tinters called off and he needed an hour and a half more. I tried to put myself in their shoes and said that would be fine.
I began to get worried when five hours came and went and I hadn’t received a phone call from Dr. Tinto. I called at 4:30 and the guy said he hadn’t even started my tint. He said everything had been cut, but not applied yet. Are you kidding me? I told him not to bother and I’d be picking my car up.
I went to get my car and gave a different employee an earful. He was the tinter, not the person who makes appointments. He said they were busting ass to get everything done and even tried to get me to reschedule my appointment. Yea right. They wasted five hours of my time when either of those guys SHOULD have just called me to tell me they couldn’t complete the job.
How irresponsible of a business to not CALL someone when they’re overbooked and just move the appointment. Instead, I wasted a beautiful afternoon farting around my house to stay local when I could have been out and about.
The gentleman who made the appointment over the phone, checked me in on Saturday and fielded my first follow-​up call apparently left the business and told the tinter on duty to just ‘get everything done’. I have a sneaking suspicion that he knew when I dropped my car off that they didn’t have the manpower to get the job done, but he didn’t have the balls to tell me.
What could have been a minor inconvenience (changing my appointment in advance) turned into a major problem and will now ensure I’ll never give this company my money. I received a refund from Groupon and want to warn everyone else of the lack of professionalism at this business.

I came here to have a set of HIDs installed. I called the morning off the appointment to make sure they had the HID kit in stock before I made the drive out there. I made the hour drive and when I got here I was told they didn’t have the product in stock. I arrived there first thing in the morning and they said they’re not sure when the product would be here.
The staff are unprofessional. From my experience I highly suggest passing on this establishment.

Had my tint done here when I was visiting a friend in Detroit. Firstly great deal when you use the groupon as it cost me $ 130 which would have been easily $ 200 In Chicago. Make sure you call ahead and set up appointment and you won’t have any issue at all. The guys at this store are very informative, fast at getting the job done. If you have any concerns these guys are willing to take some time and explain everything, I saboteurs of what percentage to go with so they showed me how the tint looked on their personal cars. I had 35% done all the way around and would recommend this location for the job to anyone.

Received a Groupon for a complete auto detail as a present that I let expire called to see what the difference I was going to have to pay was and was told one price once I got there I was told two more prices. Well after sitting there for five hours they said my truck was done well no it wasn’t the back seat had not been touched there was still mud on the wheels and tires the pedals were filthy still the bed cover was still dirty. Took it back and showed them everything that they missed and guess what still not done right and now I see why half of the people that came in there while I was waiting were there to have work redone because they screwed that up to

I took advantage of the local deal on Amazon for Dr. Tinto’s window tinting. After checking some reviews, I figured I’d go for it. My month old Impreza was in need of some professionally tinted windows.
Long story short, they did a really good job. The cut is near perfect, and there’s only a few moisture streaks that will go away in a couple weeks.
If you watch how tinting is done on YouTube, it looks like a pretty messy job. But, when I got my car back, there were almost no signs of it!
The waiting area isn’t all that great, but it was warm, and there were seats and restrooms, so it’s good enough.
Lastly, the wait time was a little longer than I was originally told, but in the end, it was worth it.

I’m a very happy guy today, now that my car has a remote starter and alarm system! Works like a charm and I’m so happy I decided to get it done at Dr. Tinto. Nick, the owner, is a great guy, a professional, and a pleasure to do business with. I also met his tech that did the install, who was friendly as well as knowledgeable.
I did my shopping around… checked with Best Buy, Mickey Shorr, Car Tunes, and a few others. It requires a little bit of leg work to get the real price with those guys though. These guys advertise their $ 99 remote starters, but then they charge you extra for a bypass that every car since the 90s needs. Best Buy wanted just over $ 350 for the system they advertised for $ 179! Nick was very honest and gave me a fully inclusive price right up front. With no haggling, he beat the cheapest competitor by about $ 30. He offered to upgrade to a remote start with an alarm system, and I made an offer that he accepted — so I got a security system thrown in and still paid less than what Car Tunes would charge for a remote starter alone. Rather than nickel and dime you for every single option, Nick just gives you a fair flat rate.
The service was outstanding, by the way! When I stopped in to check the place out yesterday, I mentioned to Nick that I was having a coworker pick me up and drop me off. My work closes at the same time as Dr. Tinto, so I asked if they could stay a little over so I could pick up my car. He said they would, but then offered to drive me himself and drop off my car when it was done. True to his word, my car arrived at my work a good 3 hours before the end of my workday. He took the time to test it out with me, and even got his tech out of the car to talk with me as well.
Overall, I’m sure you can tell that I had an awesome experience with Dr. Tinto. Trust me, I’ll come back and update this review if anything changes — so as long as all this is still here, you can assume that I’m still very, very happy with my new remote starter and alarm system! Highly recommend!
