Adult and Children Classes in Wing Chun Do Kung Fu, a scientific and effective martial art, reality based self-​defense, based on biomechanics and natural strength, as defined by Sijo James DeMile, a Bruce Lee student during the Seattle years. An award winning school, Ambrose Academy has set itself apart from other martial arts schools through it unique fighting and defense style Wing Chun Do, the welcoming and community based atmosphere of the school, the highly detailed teaching methodology by certified black sash instructors, and excellent customer service.

Ambrose Academy is known for its excellent children’s programs customizing our program for each child’s specific needs in personal growth, confidence, and disclipline. The school methodology is based on positive reinforcement by instructors and peers in a nurturing, welcoming, and fun filled environment.

The offerings specific to our children’s safety programs is the acclaimed Stranger Smart© Program and Keep Kids Safe Afterschool Program.

History

Established in 1988.

Ambrose Academy of Wing Chun Do is an award winning school winner of Nickelodeon’s Parents’ Picks Award for 2009 & 2010 as Best Family Friendly Business and WDIV4THEBest with a five star rating. The school’s first location was in Garden City, MI. In 1992, the business moved to a larger location in Dearborn Heights, MI. In 2001, the school moved to its present location, with over 2300 sq feet of training space in Livonia, MI.

An Ambrose Academy satellite school was established from 2002 – 2007 in the Ernest Loften Center, the UAW/​Ford Motor fitness center. On site afterschool programs were conducted at Dearborn Montessori, Vandenberg, St, Thomas, and St. Mels. The school has been featured in Livonia Observer, Metro Parent, and Dearborn Press & Guide and Heritage Newspapers.

Ambrose Academy’s Wing Chun Do lineage began in Seattle, Washington in 1959, when James DeMile began his training under the legendary Bruce Lee. DeMile was part of Bruce Lee’s first group in Lee’s fighting period.

Business Owner

Rocco Ambrose is a Master Instructor and Inheritor of Wing Chun Do Kung Fu. He has over forty years of martial arts experience and is the only instructor allowed to certifiy future Wing Chun Do instructors. As a Charter Member of Tao of Wing Chun Do International Association, a non-​profit 501c3 teaching organization, he established a presence in Michigan, developing the acclaimed Stranger Smart© Program and the Keep Kids Safe Afterschool Program.

Featured locally in Livonia Observer, Dearborn Press & Guide, and Inside Kung Fu Magazine and the local cabel show Connections, Rocco Ambrose also appears in James DeMile’s video, Bruce Lee’s One & Three Inch Power Punch, DeMile’s book Tao of WCD Volume 1 Part 1. He has given seminars in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
