Livingston Animal Hospital

My first impression of this facility is they are only motivated by money. I understand things arnt cheap and never complain about someone who is great at what they do, it’s true you get what you pay for but $ 1000 to crop ears?! It costs less to get your pet spayed with pre anesthetic blood work and an iv catheter included, and ear cropping is a less time consuming, less extensive procedure.

We used to come here years ago with one of our dogs, Koko, who was a Chow Chow, back in the day (I’m talking probably 20+ years ago) and then we stopped when he passed away. Also, we stopped because I had gotten a Rabbit and a Bird, and at the time, they did not see «exotic» pets, so I started going to Animal Clinic of Morris Plains (which I also highly recommend, if you can’t make it to Livingston)
We just recently started going back last year, with our dog Nemo, a Yellow Lab. He was having problems as he was getting older. Unfortunately, he ended being diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer. With Koko, we used to see Dr. Weiner. I don’t remember much about those times, because I was so young. But, we’ve been seeing Dr. Schubert (née Ruthberg), and she was the one who diagnosed Nemo and took care of him. We love her. She was awesome with him and Nemo really loved her.
When it was found that the first chemo treatment did not work, and his cancer came back even more aggressively in his lungs (not even two weeks after his first treatment and barely 3 weeks after he was diagnosed. That’s how aggressive the cancer was), we made the option to put him down. She had referred us to AERA in Fairfield (again, I highly recommend them for the specialists and the ER) to see the Cancer specialist for his treatments, and they gave us the information for the Euthanasia Vet. After Nemo was put down (honestly, it was the hardest decision our family has ever made and one of the hardest things we’ve all as a family, and individually, have had to go through), she sent us a card in the mail with a personal handwritten message. It was the thought and the time she took to send us the card that made us very happy.
We now bring all of our animals there to see her. When we had brought one of our cats in, after Nemo, she asked us how we were doing and told us that how much Nemo was a cutie and a happy dog, and that we did the right thing.
A few months later, we got a new puppy, Loki, a Golden Retriever, and when we brought him to see her, he loved her and she loved him. She also told us that she was happy that we got another puppy, and was happy that we were happy again.
Nothing can ever replace a lost pet, but we wanted to be able to spread the love that we had for Nemo (as well as our other pets) on to a new one.
We do not go anywhere else now. We’ve also seen Dr. DeBiasio, and I highly recommend her as well.

My dogs went here for a few yeas and the vet barely ever spent more than 5 minutes (if that) examining them. He was often dismissive and condescending. If he had actually spent a good time with my one dog’s paw problem he might have seen that there was actually an obstruction in it that had been there for God knows how long. After we’d switched to another vet he had to do surgery to remove a mass out of my dog’s paw and said that it could have easily been prevented. This problem got so bad on both of his feet that it required more surgery, but his advanced age made more surgery impossible and he had to be put down, because of preventable masses due to infections in his feet. Maybe if Weiner did more than glance at my dog’s feet on his frequent pricy visits he would have lived longer.

My experience was wonderful. Dr. Weiner took the time to explain everything before and after my dog’s surgery. The staff was very pleasant, the facilities were clean and soothing, and the costs were not outlandish considering the procedure. I traveled almost 2 hours to see them and would do it again without a moments hesitation.

Excellent Practice that really cares about your pets! My Dogs go to Dr Debiasio she is a very caring compassionate doctor that makes you feel at ease no matter what the circumstance. I have a Dachsund that has many health issues and she has given me amaziing advice, the corrrect meds and she is always available. She will call you on your cell phone just to see how your pet is. All the Staff at this practice are very friendly and accomadating. I never had a Vet Practice that I have trusted as much as I do Livingston Animal Hospital. I highly reccomend this practice and everyone in it.

I definitely love this practice. They are patient and great with both of my dogs. I was also pleased when we needed a pet rodent euthanized. They were willing to do the procedure and showed compassion, it was upsetting for me and they were very kind.

I had an emergency with my puppy and my regular vet was closed. I live in the neighborhood so when I called over the Livingston animal hospital to see if they can take me, they were more than accommodating. Dr Kara was amazing. She had incredible bedside manor and I felt as though she treated my dog as she would her own. My pup had a broken toe and needed to be handled with care and I feel that the whole staff did a very good job of that. I think the facilities could use a little updating to make it a bit more modern but other than that, this was a top notch experience.

Dr. DeBiasio is the best bulldog vet I’ve ever met! You can tell she’s passionate about her work. Since she has three bulldogs herself, she knows the issues these dogs have and will not steer you in the wrong direction. Though we’ve only been to her twice, she always gives a thorough evaluation of my dog. He went to her for a soft tissue injury and neutering. Her recommendations are very useful and she’s never misdiagnosed. I’ve been to other vets where they’ve misdiagnosed more than once which has costed me a lot of money.
My only issue is that I wished they were closer to Jersey City but otherwise everything about this office is great!
