Not a good experience at all. My hard drive crashed and I didn’t hear from them for months. Then they said they could recover 40% of my data so I agreed to the additional $ 400. price. I am a professional photographer. I had lost literally thousands of photographs, so 40% recovery sounded pretty good to me. I received a portable hard drive with 9 images and 3 folders of images — nowhere near a 40% recovery — and when I called to complain and to tell them this small amount of data is not worth $ 400. they refused to give me a refund or any compensation. I would not recommend them as their customer service is sorely lacking.

This place was a lot further than I expected. I dropped off my hard drive and received an email with confirming what I had dropped off (pictures of the hard drive along with the hard drive rubber bracket). I received an evaluation the following day as promised. Unfortunately, they said my hard drive was unrecoverable. Since they couldn’t fix my hard drive, there was no charge. The whole process of dropping off the hard drive, the status updates, and final evaluation email was very good. I just wished they were a lot closer.

Prosoft Engineering Inc. makes an excellent software, Data Rescue for Mac and having previously used it in the past, I can contest to how well it works. What I don’t agree with, is how they have become completely greedy and turned a great software into «ransomeware.» What do I mean by that? You used to pay $ 99 and you could recover as much data as you want with no limit on the number of drives (great for people like me that have multi-​drive NAS systems with massive TBs of storage). Now what they’ve done, is created a system where you pay $ 99 and they limit you to 5 drives or you pay $ 299 and then you get what you had before where it didn’t matter how much data you had. They created a new Drive Rescue One which is a great «all-​in-​one» concept, but yet again, you’re limited to recovering the size of the hard drive (500GB or 1TB) unless you pay an annual subscription fee of $ 409 which is outrageous for a 1TB hard drive and software. I’d prefer to just pay a subscription fee of like $ 69.99 and have unlimited access to the software with no limits on drives.

The Data Rescue Center recovered tens of thousands of files that were over 10 years old from an external hard drive that had head damage. They were very responsive via phone and email and provided regular updates throughout the process. I would highly recommend their service!

These guys are awesome! Especially Matt who provided us exceptional service. I’ve provided the hard disk and information that needed to be retrieved. It was done, simple as that. They’ve went out their way to keep me informed with all the processes. I never felt I was in a grey area or having the impression that i was being ignored for any of my questions or inquiries.

I highly recommend the Data Rescue Center. My hard drive failed after I dropped my desktop tower while carrying it. This caused the platter head to break, which in turn damaged the disk when I tried to start my computer. To my amazement, the Data Rescue Center was still able to recover data!!. Additionally, I had the pleasure of working with «Samantha» who was incredibly professional and helpful. Again, I highly recommend this business.

I know, backup, backup. backup! I am diligent about the work computers, but somehow ‘forgot’ to backup the home computer with 16 years of family pictures and videos. When the crash came, and it did, I thought all was lost. I took it to our regular guy who sent it to the Data Rescue Center, and they got all the data back. What was icing on the cake was the customer service. Prompt answers, friendly people, and a willingness to work with you.
I hope you never need this service, but if you do, I would highly recommend Data Rescue Center.

I highly recommend! The Data Rescue Center succeeded in recovering data from an EHD where other services had failed.
I live in Chicago and brought my failed drive to a local computer consultant. He works with the Data Rescue Center and sent the drive to them. The drive had a host of problems — physical damage, encryption from the drive manufacturer, corrupted data and a Time Machine back-​up that apparently confuses the data recovery software. (Too late I learned that it’s not recommended to put a Time Machine back-​up on a non-​Apple device. I won’t make that mistake again.) The Data Rescue Center kept solving every problem that my EHD presented. I totally appreciate their persistence.
Even though my drive required a more complex recovery than the Data Rescue Center might have anticipated, their initial quote didn’t change. The Rescue Center’s price remained the same even though they probably spent much more time on the drive than planned. Plus, I paid only when the data was recovered and not before.
I am very happy with their service, knowledge and professionalism. They stayed in good communication with my local consultant throughout the process. I know that this EHD was a challenge — through the failure of some local recovery services — and the Data Rescue Center came through!

I am SO glad I found these guys! My hard drive died, and I was completely panicked. After searching the web, calling a few other places and getting the runaround, I didn’t feel confident trusting my hard drive with just anyone. Erin was very helpful and explained the entire recovery process. I shipped my drive to them (in the packaging they provided) and within the week they were able to recover everything (!) and shipped it back to me. Whew. This is the number to call.

These guys are world class. I thought that I had completely lost the data on my hard drive after my laptop was smashed. After panicking and cursing myself, I reached out to the Data Rescue Center for help. They were absolute pros in that they walked me through the process, made all of the costs crystal clear, and then delivered as promised within a few weeks. They are also less expensive than many of their competitors.

My boyfriend spent over a year consolidating his extensive CD collection onto an external hardrive. When that and the backup failed, I sent the drive to The Data Rescue Center. Despite a headcrash and some thrashing trying to read files off the drive myself (oops) they recovered 99% of his music.
They are less expensive than their competitors and offer personal customer service. While I hope to never need their services again I know they will be the first folks I’ll call.

Great! Great! Great company. We lost of our son’s baby pictures and my files for school. While it took us a while to decide it we wanted to move forward with the data recovery, Erin would always check in with me to see if I was still interested. She responded promptly to emails and while it did take a little bit longer then anticipated from the time we authorized the go ahead to the time the order was complete, we were completely happy with the end results. The company even offered a military discount without hesitation and because the drive I sent in had some issues with the USB connect, they informed me immediately and offered to hold onto my data for 30 days vs the normal 10 days in case of any issues. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs to recover important data.

So my laptop crashed or whatever happens when you lose everything. All the kids pictures, my candid wedding photos and the gory videos from my last labor and delivery. I called a few different places near me but they were rude and I could barely understand their IT language. A friend of a friends cousins uncles moms niece works here so I called them up and at last, people that actually speak «computers for dummies». I took my laptop in and holy smokes cheaper than everywhere else and fast! I would definitely recommend them and although I hope I never have to see them in the future I would for sure go back. Customer service reps were friendly and helpful. Got those gory videos back and the pics of good ol’ aunt Linda having a little too much fun from my wedding. Ha!

I have nothing but positive reviews for the folks at The Data Rescue Center. They recovered over 1TB of information for me in less than 48 hours. Erin Dunn, the Customer Service Representative I worked with was professional and detail oriented. I even received a good deal of information from the owner about the process of how they would retrieve my iMac’s data and put it onto an external hard drive.
I am the Chief Procurement Officer at a large Napa based winery and used The Data Rescue Center as an alternative to our current service provider. The service was exemplary and the workmanship was great. Needless to say, I will be taking all of our company’s data recovery needs to The Data Rescue Center in the future.

2 weeks ago my computer completely crashed my hard drive stopped spinning. Thankfully I live close to Pleasanton and found Data Rescue Center. I called and spoke with Erin who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
I took my hard drive down to the Pleasanton office and within 48 hours I knew what was wrong and how much it was going to cost to recover all of my data from my hard drive. The Data Recovery Center kept me in the loop with everything that was going on.
Finally everything was complete — I picked up my external hard drive with all that was recovered which was 100% recovered. YAY
THANK YOU so much to everyone at The Data Rescue Center. You did an awesome job at recovering all of my data and at a fair price.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Data Rescue Center. I had a self-​powered small peripheral hard drive that failed, like a mechanical failure kind of thing, not confused software issues. (OK I confess, I dropped it on the ground!) Data Rescue Center was very patient with me, and gave me great communication and follow-​up throughout the whole ordeal, and saved ALL of the data on my drive. They work closely with OWC, which is also a company I recommend. They gave me a quote which they stuck to, which in my experience is not necessarily the case with data rescuing places. I always knew what was going on throughout the process, because I got emails with pix attached, plus me being in a panic I called also just to see how things were. I’m afraid I’m going to be sending another drive into them shortly if I can’t get it to spin.

Adding to my review because now I’ve sent a second failed hard drive to them, and they rescued everything. Also, this second time was a different price because it was an easier rescue apparently, and I’m thankful they didn’t charge the same price as the first time, knowing I’d pay it. The first time they had to reconstruct the drive before getting the data off. Honest, and great service.

My Macbook died — nice, huh? One of my neighbors is an IT specialist at the lab (LLNL), so I took it to him and he just couldn’t do anything for me. He told me about the Data Rescue Center down the street from him and told me that’s where he took his own MBP. I figured I could either go there or to the Apple Store. Either way, I expected to pay an arm and a leg but I had about 125 Gigs of data that was worth it.
The Data Rescue Center is, literally, a stone’s throw way from the lab. That and the fact that this facility looks like it just came out of a spy thriller about Silicon Valley made me feel like my machine was in good hands. This is not a computer repair shop located in some strip mall, this is a seriously amazing facility! I’m very happy with everyone I dealt with!
