St Vincent De Paul Society Thrift Store

My husband and I came here for dressers after we moved back to Livermore from across the country last summer.
Bought a solid wood dresser for our daughters nursery for $ 70 and a solid wood dresser set for our room for $ 140, then painted them both. The employees were above and beyond kind and helpful!

My daughter went in with a friend looking for a leather jacket for a costume. She came home with a fake leather one that she unfortunately paid $ 25 for. Totally over-​priced. I went back with it only to find out it is one of the only thrift stores I’ve come across around here that doesn’t take returns. The young guy who served her did not even give her a receipt, although the manager I spoke with was able to go find the transaction and print one so I could do an exchange within the next few days. Unfortunately there was absolutely nothing worth purchasing so we’ll donate the over-​priced jacket elsewhere. Won’t be returning. There are much better thrift shops in town than this one.

Like many of the other reviews mention, this place is very overpriced… I walked in today and was checking out one of those stand up, wooden jewelry boxes. Of course, it didn’t have a price tag, as many of their items don’t either. A lady who worked there came up and told me she could sell it to me for $ 99… It was wobbly, scratched, and all the drawers were loose and off the tracks… You can buy a brand new one, in perfect shape for $ 50… So I moved on…
I found a really cute black Betsey Johnson purse, and again, NO PRICE. They have a sign up front stating that if an item doesn’t have a price, you can’t buy it… Well, alrighty then…
Things that did have a price tag were ridiculously priced… I saw a dirty, plastic storage bin they were selling for $ 9… Umm… You can buy a brand new one at Target for $ 5… One used plastic cup with a straw, $ 4.95… Those are not thrift store prices! Won’t be back!

Too many other stores in the town of Livermore to bother with their rudeness, dirty stuff that is so disorganized, and WAYYYY overpriced. Tried TriValley Haven Thrift Store, Goodwill, Shepherds Gate, and Valley Hospice — all were friendly, easy going and did not think their items were gold. I mean OMG its a THRIFT STORE where people with low income go to shop for presents this holiday season. Guess they think their stuff is gold at their prices, The other stores mentioned have much better prices, are CLEAN, and great staff. This place went to the dogs at Gold prices. Go elssewhere…

I don’t know why people complain about the prices here. I’ve shopped here before and I recently had another trip for new work clothes (which are pretty casual, but most of my shirts have writing on them so I needed new options).
I got 2 pairs of jeans, 3 work appropriate shirts, and a nice sweater for winter all for under $ 30. A lot of what I got was VERY lightly used or like new condition. My main complaint is the lack of a fitting room (I swear there was one before…) considering I can’t return any clothes that might not fit. Also, the clothes were very askew. I’d find a size 4 next to a size 10 and so on.
Checking out was fairly easy but a lot of the people there seem to just roll with the punches. Not very friendly but not rude either. I got what I needed and got out.
Would shop here again, especially as a college student with a budget!

Jamie is always very helpful. I stopped going there years ago got so dirty in there and high priced and garbage. However, they’ve cleaned it up there always busy in there working keeping it picked up. The stuff I need for my crafts they have and several pieces to choose from. I will continue shopping there great job Jamie you deserve a raise you’re a hard worker I never see you rest
I try to always give a review whether it’s good or bad but especially when they’re good there’s not enough of those out there see you in a week or two Jamie hope you read this. Keep up the great work!

Rude. Doors are wide open and 5 minutes till opening. Yelled at me saying NOT OPEN YET. Seems like someone hates their job today.

This store is a great place to shop because you never know what you are going to find.
Some people complain about it be clean and organized, well this isn’t Macys its a thrift store where you look for bargains.
Jamie and her staff do a fabulous job in gathering donations, in helping people with their purchases and overall of working with what they got. I have been going to this location for over 17 years and its the best it has ever been as far as selection and display and customer service.
I have found many a deal that I could not pass, because if you don’t buy when you see it someone else will.
St Vincent’s helps people who are down and out and in a moment of need. I have seen those people in that corner office walk out with voucher for whatever. Helping those individuals or families comes with a price… nothing is free. So think about that when you read about those people who complain about price…

The manager in this store (at least, I think she is the manager) is amazing. I was in the shop a year ago, and she not only remembered me, but also what restaurant she sent me to for a meal! Bought a load of stuff at great prices, and then she took me aside and showed me a pile more that had just come in. Talk about good customer service. I will be back.

This store is a gem. I admit, I love thrift stores and this is one of my favorites!
My granddaughter and her little ones make this our first stop when she visits. I find it to be well organized and the staff is fantastic While it is a thrift store, not an antique store, I have found many hidden treasures here and hope to find more in the future. I also think they do a great job with pricing.

I must say I don’t like to give one-​star reviews, but this place isn’t very good as far as thrift stores go. I like a good deal on CD’s and books more than the next person, but a lot of their other merchandise seems over-​priced and very, very used.
Although I’m aware they mainly rely on donations, St. Vincent De Paul’s needs to reevaluate their pricing scheme. I can’t possibly imagine who would buy a faded tanktop from Target (2007, since I bought the exact same one from Target when it was new for the EXACT same price) for $ 7. The clothes are in horrendous condition and are very dated in appearance.
Not my go-​to for stores, but I will definitely consider coming back if I need a new read, or some new music.

I come here mostly for the books & CDs. I believe paperbacks are 75-​cents and hardcovers are $ 1. (Or maybe $ 1.25?) CDs are $ 1. They’re a good deal and they have a fantastic selection.
The jewelery is also an ok deal. I got a really cute seahorse necklace here for $ 5. I suggest checking to make sure the clasps are working and that none of the rhinestones or little pieces are missing before making your purchase.
A lot of the clothes and shoes are very overpriced. I suppose the designer things are only okay. It would probably be better to go to TJ Maxx if you want a cheap designer purse.
As for the dust, well, yeah. It is a consignment store and maybe not the cleanest, but I feel like it adds to the place’s charm. It’s like I’ve happened upon a secret attic full of treasures hidden amongst the junk.
Word to the wise: prices are written directly on the clothes and accessories in pen sometimes. I bought a bag there that was $ 11, though they lowered the price to $ 7. When I got home, I realized it had a HUGE stain on the back, and they’d written the price on the handle.

After our yard sale we piled everything back up into boxes and loaded in the the truck and hauled it all down here. Don’t look back just take it and donate it. You will literally feel your house get lighter.
They are so awesome down here. The guys help you unload everything. I saw a bin for electronics, for furniture and then big containers they could load with whatever else.
Unfortunately they don’t take toys or Baby bathtubs either. Something about sanitary issues. Which my mom and I are still not understanding. Shes told me that you have to hide any toys you might have inside other things so the guys wont find them.
Their furniture is all 50% on Saturday and from what my mom says most of her apartment was furnished by the sales they have here. The Saturday we came I was way to tired to take a look, but took a mental note.
I was just happy to unload things that I didnt need or want anymore.
This is was the only dontation station in the area for a long time. Being open Saturday and having very helpful staff make it one of the best.
