Mathnasium Learning Centers strive to teach elementary, middle, and high school students math the way that makes sense to them. The hallmark of our program has been the way that it engages kids and gets them to know math at a level that is far beyond adult expectations. Today, over 35 years after its inception, the Mathnasium Method™ is providing children all over the world with the confidence, critical thinking skills, and mathematical ability to last a lifetime. We specialize in math tutoring, customer learning plans, personalized instruction, homework help, and SAT, ACT, and ISEE preparation. Our goal is to significantly increase your child’s math skills, understanding of math concepts, and overall school performance, while building confidence and forging a positive attitude toward the subject. History

Established in 2013.

The first Mathnasium was founded in 2002, built around a curriculum developed by an amazing educator, Larry Martinek. Larry sought to address a troubling theme in mathematics instruction: a serious disconnect between the students’ basic skills training and the curriculum they were expected to master in the years to come. They weren’t being prepared properly for their future.

With painstaking effort and diligence Larry developed and assembled a blend of methods and materials. He built a program focused on helping children understand math by honing their math instincts and getting them to think like mathematicians. Since then, students of all ages have found the curriculum to be incredibly powerful and engaging. As evidence of how effective it is, Mathnasium centers have sprung up across North America, and the globe.

Opening our doors in October of 2013, Mathnasium of Livermore has been proud to continue the tradition of helping students discover this wonderful universe of math.

When I graduated from UCSC with an MS in mathematics I considered going the usual route into industry but did not find any pull in that direction.

Teaching, on the other hand, gives me great fulfillment. It’s cliched, but there is nothing like knowing you have had a lasting positive effect on people lives; an outcome they may enjoy for the rest of their days. I love the idea that twenty years from now our students may remember the guidance we gave them today and be grateful.

I specifically chose to open a Mathnasium because the program is amazing. The curriculum makes teaching easy, leaving us to focus on bringing joy to our kids.
