Dr Bergan is a very nice person who trys to help and cares, there always two sides to every tale. My advice is pay your vet bills and dont have horses if u can’t afford the dam vet!

If you’re looking for a vet with compassion, look elsewhere. My horse was colicking horribly in Brentwood. I could not get any of the 6 vets I called to come out, as all were busy or not answering. Dr. Bergan finally responded. At first I thought I’d found a reliable vet who explained things thoroughly and took her time to work through the problem. She didn’t have a solution and said «wait and see what he will do.» The horse was not appreciably better when she was done and the bill was $ 400. $ 175 to show up during the day. I paid $ 200 in cash immediately and asked to be billed the rest. The next day he was still in terrible pain with no improvement. I called and told her what was going on. She didn’t have IV fluids, so I called around trying to find someone who did. No one did. I couldn’t take him to Davis. I asked that she come back out when it was obvious he was getting weak from the pain and banamine wasn’t helping at all. She texted it was her policy not to come back out until the bill was paid in full. She hadn’t disclosed this before. I told her my regular vets have always billed me. I pulled together the funds and asked again, saying please he was in such hideous pain I couldn’t stand it; he needed help immediately! (None of the other vets answered and I let her know she was the only option.)
She texted, «Yes, but then I still need to be paid for today’s services. I have lenders I have to answer to.»
I said I didn’t make more money until that night and I didn’t know what else to do. He was in such pain and needed help. Then an hour later his intestines ruptured and he was in agony. He was groaning so loudly I heard him from inside my house where I’d been trying to locate other vets. I told her he was dying and hurting so badly, please help!
Her response via text was, «Sorry. If you have the money I’ll come out.»
He was kicking his stomach while laying on his side, convulsing, mouth gaping open and closed, every muscle taut and strained with pain and eyes rolling. My only recourse to help was to tell him I love him. I was helpless. My poor noble 30 year old horse died a hideously agonizing death because his vet cared more about dollars she was yet to make, than his care. Heartless.

Charged $ 257 for a vet check that lasted less than 15 minutes and she hardly touched the horse! Got SEVERAL second opinions and ALL were opposite hers. Look somewhere else for a thorough and reliable vet check.

Thank you! Thank you Dr. Bergan!!! Dr. Bergan is fantastic! I did not have a vet in the area when my mini horse got sick. I called her in the morning and she was out there in less than 30 mins. She did a great job and my little horse loves her. I highly recommend! So happy to have found her.

Dr. Bergan is great! She came out to do a pregnancy check on my mare. She arrived as scheduled and was excellent to deal with. I would highly recommend her if you are in the market for an equine practitioner.

On a Friday evening, our llama impaled her lower eyelid. We called local vets, all we got were answering services and machines telling us the vets would be available Monday morning. We called UC Davis and were trying to figure out how to get our llama up there when a friend messaged me about Equine Performance Veterinary Services.
When we called, Dr. Bergan answered the phone and told us she could be there that night, she had another call ahead of us and would be driving to East Contra Costa County from Milpitas.
Per her instructions, we pulled out the stick. There was no apparent damage to the eye itself, the llama did not seem to be in any pain (she was eating, behaving normally) so we cancelled Dr. Bergan until the following day so she could get home and relax and not get tangled up in Friday night traffic.
The next day, she came out as promised, doctored up our llama and went on her way.
Every time we called, she answered the phone herself or returned the call within a short time frame. Dr. Bergan is knowledgeable, professional and personable. Definitely a 5-​Star vet!
